1 Series [Official] New BMW 1-series Sportstourer (F20)

The BMW 1 Series is a range of subcompact executive cars (C-segment) manufactured by BMW since 2004. Positioned as the entry-level model in BMW range of products, the first generation was produced in hatchback, coupé and convertible body styles.
The Giulietta is the prom queen of the hatchback world but I would much prefer the quality and reliability of either the Golf or 1er.

The reliability on the Giulietta has improved and you're hearing this from someone who has been through hell with Alfas. :)

Best looking hatch by far. If it can match the golf for interior quality it will be the new segment leader as it already drives better.

As good as it looks i reckon that one in the vid will set you back nearly £30k. Ridiculous.

The black 1...

Yeah, I have to say it looks good in that pic.

But in Vivaki's vid it's so-so at best.

Makes me wish black was the only available color though..

I can live with the rear, sideprofile and 3/4 view. But this is the view I dont like at all, looks awkward.

I am very intrigued by this car and I want to see it in real life very badly. I sense that it will be a love or hate relationship :D

Currently deciding between this, the GTD or the current E87 1 series. Before this car was unvelied I was ready to sign the BMW order sheet but now im going to wait for it to arrive at the dealers and then decide. I do like the new F20 but as mentioned before I do have some reservations. Now for the step back, current E87 xenons £650, F20 you cant have just the xenons, you have to get the 'visibility pack'. Price? £1,140!

EnI @ ALL

Without it being my intention to derail any thread it's back to business. I had my fun yesterday in the - New Golf MVII uncovered Thread and Giannes brought us back on topic (rightfully so;))

I just want to make it clear that front looks aside, the F20 has all the typical/stunning BMW-DNA and that - in my book forgives the mistakes made (IMO) by the BMW design team and those who signed-off on it.

The F20 BMW 1 Series stay's true to what is absolutely essential in making a BMW a BMW in heart and sole.
RWD, Dynamic Chassis and Suspension also Direct Steering, Excellent Engines that delivers on power and Efficient Dynamics and last but surely not least 50:50 weight distribution.

The essence of a great driving position and what appears to be a very nice cockpit and that BMW AG listened and delivered with better premium materials inside.

It's all there, fact is that say BMW decided to switch to FWD etc. we had really reason to complain and send the brand to hell. They did not and delivered a visually challeging car albeit a REAL and TRUE drivers car that will deliver on Sheer Driving Pleasure and THE best Dynamics in this market segment.

Well done BMW! The looks my never make sense nor appeal to me, but the ingredients is pure and building on what made BMW strong in the past. That is what really makes a great car an even a better BMW.;)

Regards,
Naas
:t-cheers:

Arguing about it's looks is all well and good but none of us will argue that as a car it's a huge improved compared to the car it's just replaced, well that's what Auto Express online seem to think and to quote them they say the 120d Urban compared to the old 120d drives better, goes as well as a Golf GTI, returns 60mpg and has a really upmarket interior compared to the old one and a bigger boot and yet they still only 3 stars??????????

Are it's looks swaying their decision some what? :t-crazy2:

BMW: they like the driving comfort and driving dynamics but think the car is expensive. Impressive fuel consumption. With 184 hp the car only used 4.5 liters/100km.

Expensive is an understatement. I was messing around with our local configurator, although each model is fairly reasonably priced for what you're getting, it's the dam options that are ridiculous. In SA you do not get climate control, hell you don't get anything. Standard features are central arm rest and I think that's it. everything else you pay for.A golf GTI is much better equipped and cheaper.

Expensive is an understatement. I was messing around with the SA configurator and I was shocked at what I saw. Options are stupidly expensive, and what's with all the packages. :t-banghea
