1 Series [Official] New BMW 1-series Sportstourer (F20)

The BMW 1 Series is a range of subcompact executive cars (C-segment) manufactured by BMW since 2004. Positioned as the entry-level model in BMW range of products, the first generation was produced in hatchback, coupé and convertible body styles.
Cannot believe climate control on the 118d sport costs an extra 650 pounds! One step forward two steps back for me in terms of buying one right now!

I am not familiar with the UK Specification. But do they (BMW UK) offer set packages for the 1er which includes Climate and other features for a set price?

I'd say that the point is that cars like the 1er should have Climate Control as standard. It's standard on many lesser cars. Why not in the 1er?

Im building myself a 118i right now. Climacontrol is included in the price in Sweden. Thank Godness!
Proffessional Radio also standard. Thank Godness!

I´ll be back when I finish building my car....

EDIT:
118i - Sport line, 18", metallic, shadowline, storage package, tinted windows, harmon/kardon, xenon lights, adaptive lights, servotronic,
soundsystem: harmon/kardon. 5-doors. Price: 332.675 SEK. It's a hefty price and this is without M-package.

Compare to:
Golf GTI Edition 35 - metallic, 18", storage package, Rns 510(with mp3 support), PDC, soundsystem: Dynaudio Excite, Clima, 5-doors. Price: 334.700 SEK.

Similar equipment but 235 horsepower and similar price as a 118i with 170 hp (without M-package). Is it really worth it? imo hard to justify the extra money just to get a slower BMW.

£24,760 and no climate control, perhaps you can send a nudge to BMW UK to sort this out? As for you question, You can only get climate control in a set package (interior comfort package) and that package is priced at £650. I would understand if the base spec ES and SE models didn't have climate control but the sport and urban models should have something like climate control as standard

So Scott, are we talking about a difference like e90 vs e92 ?
That will be pretty cool.
I like the 1er interior now, which was my only concern with the last generation.
When is the Coupe due to be released ?

Is it just me or does the F20 Urban Line look patently ridiculous?!?

It does. But some Euro customers like that. White details (wheels, side mirror caps, pillars, roof top etc). Quite some cars available with this kind of customizable options. Don't ask ...

3 swedish reviews so far. All three says it drives nice. One review said the design is good. One said the car looked like an angry pig. Third review didnt mention the design at all, I dont know if its a positive thing if you doesnt mention the design.

I'd prefer the Alfa Romeo Giulietta QV instead of the Golf. :)

I agree with martin. The Urban line looks like a huge disaster in my eyes. Same story than with the Elegance trim in the Benzes. I thought BMW learned the lesson and they would never offer elegant packs, and here they are.

A gimmicky as the Urban-line might be, it's a neccessary evil for BMW in keeping the 1er hatchback relevant for luxury consumers. The 1er coupe has cannibalized hatchback sales rather harshly and alu side mirror caps and accents might do the job of making the hatchback appealing to customers who can afford the higher end 1ers.

1-series remind me of what Mercedes are doing with C-class. ELEGANCE and AVANTGARDE.

But the execution BMW is a bit more crass as in I AM A LUXURY CAR BECAUSE I HAVE BIG SHINY DETAILS. However, the top spot on the hall of fame is occupied by Lexus and their deluxe trim of whatever it used to be called that offered badges and model designations in gold to emphesis luxuriousness.

LOOOOL how cheap and tasteless.
