A6/S6/RS6 Official: New Audi A6 (C7)

Although it didn't initially blow my mind to bits, the A6's sober appearance is growing on me. Given the stark performance the most new Audis, the A6 will turn out to be a competent wolf in sheep's clothing. Audi's engine line-up and gearbox options are currently the best out of all three German giants. There's an appetizing engine for everyone.

^ Don't make me laugh, only the 4 cylinder turbo engines are better, and that's about to change.
Gearbox is the same 8 speed.

You will never stop making me laugh at times.

Now while I won't be drawn into an argument as to who makes the best engines, I think all three make great engines but I do think Audi offer the better transmission at the moment in the shape of the 7sp DSG (not 8sp automatic). Having had an S4 with the 3.0SC attached to this gearbox I can give an opinion that it would be my preferred choice in A6 form and as such I would reckon it could well be the dark horse in much the same way as the S4 has been.

Laughing makes you grow old, so read more of my posts.

As for the DSG transmission, you're absolutely right. Should be available in the 5er too. Don't understand why it's not available on the F10 in BMW's DCT form. They offer it on the 1er and 3er I6 TT engines, why not at least on the 535i???

For me it's either manual or DCT/DSG/PDK/etc. Love them both, and automatic not so much.

I thought posting porn was against the rules, it seems the 5er's run at the top was short lived. oh well cant say that I'm sad though this could in fact be Audi sexiest face offerd in the current line up, and the 3.0 engine gives it personality to match.

Dead front is without a singly doubt the best angle to see this car in ^^^^

Looks rather nice I must add.

Like the F10 BMW 5 series, the new A6 has quite a rakish greenhouse. Very coupe-like in character. It will be interesting to see to which extent the A6 and A7 canabalize each other in terms of sales.

A6 and A7 head project designer Achim Badstübner recently alluded to his prediction that the more traditional, 3 boxish sedan configuration will make a comeback. It is also noteworthy that it was this gentleman, I seem to recall, that mentioned that traditional large 2 door coupes' were a thing of the past-cars' for old men.

Well, after seeing recent photographs of the F12/F13 BMW 6 series, Audi may be well advised to seriously contemplate a 2 door coupe/cabriolet version of the A7.

That sounds awesome to me. IMO nothing beats a strong, good, dynamic, stately, yet still sleek 3-Box Sedan design, nothing. M-B already alluded to that prediction themselves with the W212 E-Class. It's the sleekest E-Class yet, however, it conveys obvious design characteristics, and an overall character of a proud, classic, stately, powerful 3-Box Sedan look.

No argument. It's BMW;)

I welcome your opinion and can see why you would feel that way, but I see merits in all the designs made by the other two.

Mercedes make blindingly great engines, good enough to grace the likes of Zonda and McLaren, likewise VAG make arguably the greatest engine to date in the form of the w16 in the Veyron as well as the ones that power Lamborghini and then there's BMW which make the mighty M engines that McLaren's F1 used.

So you see there is an argument for all three brands to be viewed as the greatest of the three and why being drawn into a discussion would take any thread way, way off topic and amount to a good hundred pages of dribble.

So I'm still a little confused. That white A6 photographed above, is that how the standard A6 will look also? I mean, that white A6 looks so aggressive with the angry/inverted air-intakes that it almost looks like an S-line variant.

It'd be the equivalent of BMW releasing the 5er with the M-Sport front bumper design as standard.

Yeah, that is the standard A6, though it does appear to have the black optics pack which does help make it more aggressive.

Here's an S-Line for comparison.

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
