Thanks - what the pictures don't show is the metallic sheen to the grey leather on dash and trim. And I haven't done pictures of interior finishes like the leather around the roof, sunroof and door handles.^ I was about to point out that your interior is the exact one I saw on the S 600 in Detroit in January. It is the best car interior I have see in my life. On a 65, it looks even better.
Please do so, JLamg? I'm so intriged by this leather roof....Thanks - what the pictures don't show is the metallic sheen to the grey leather on dash and trim. And I haven't done pictures of interior finishes like the leather around the roof, sunroof and door handles.
Can't give you hard numbers. First we live in Miami - and can't use the "ecostart" system - it is the first button I push after starting the car. Simply too hot here.@JLamg: Would you be so friendly to give us information about the consumption?
Thanks for sharing! What I had written soon after seeing this interior on the S 600 in January:
"I just saw the S 600 at the show. The interior is head and shoulders above the S550 and S63 - the latter two quite literally appear to be a whole model-line lower in the sense of occasion their respective interiors represent. The diamond-pattern, even where not exclusive to the S 600 (as in the dash area) is simply more three-dimensional, with real stitching and thick padding. The effect is, like I said, a $100k difference in value perception."
Thanks Mick! Attached are a couple that show the finishes. . not the best pictures. .Please do so, JLamg? I'm so intriged by this leather roof....
EDIT forgot to say that your car is absolutely magnificent![]()
Thanks again! We are currently driving the S65 with the 3D and a 2015 S550 (loaner while we are waiting for delivery of a 2015 911 Carrera 4 S Cab) with the standard Burmester. From a sound perspective - the 3D is clearly superior in multiple dimensions; and they are really cool in appearance. The downside is the loss of room in the trunk (we are golfers and need to get travel bags in from time to time) and can't with the 3D. I really like the Magic Body Control as well - can tell the difference - especially on speed bumps. We were very close to getting a new Bentley - had it spec'd out. At the end of the day a few things put us in the S65: 1) S65 has more attention paid to the driver while the Bentley was focused on rear passengers; there is no comparison in technology - the Bentley is one generation behind; both have a lot of torque - I find that the MB is just a notch more refined; finally style - the S65 is a very muscular car in person while the Bentley feels like an "older" persons car (not that I am that young!). Don't use the new touchpad, but love the HUD and 360 camera. The wheels are S65 standard in the US (796). Shortcomings - small trunk for a big car; don't really need or want the rear monitors; parktronic sensors seem slow to activate; the WLAN, MB apps and retrieval of texts/emails are primitive (hopefully the latter two will be corrected by a software upgrade). Hope that helps!Simply in awe, @JLamg.
Questions time:
How do you like the 3D Burmester sound? Is there really a difference? Please make a video.
Magic body control, a gimmick? And how does it drive in general compared to other cars you've owned (what were they BTW?)?
New touch pad COMAND controller, any thoughts?
How would you compare it to comparable Bentley's and Rolls Royce?
Any regrets or shortcomings you think this car has? Anything you don't like at all?
Those wheels are the $h!t, remind me of Brabus wheels. What made you get them instead of the standard five bolt wheels? You got the tools to unscrew them, right?
PS,
You'd think that MB would have sorted the Eco button turning on every time you start the car by now. I mean BMW has, why not MB?
Thanks.
If only car manufacturers allow people to use the car display as a bigger screen for their phone as in people connect their phone to the display and use that instead.I really don't understand why car makers can't just put an option to mirror everything from a smartphone, a tablet , or even an iPod touch.
Some of my family members prefer to use their smartphone's navigation than the car's.
Well, you wouldn't be able to use it if the car is in motion. Just like there's a safety feature on TV and DVD players in cars now.
