Of course base trim is merely decent. That’s always been the case with this vehicle as they always play it conservative for the 80% they sell to mothers that don’t care about rims and aggressive bumpers and body colour wheel arches. Nothing wrong with that reality. Not sure people take such offense to this comment!!
Then what about the S-Class? Same boat; no amg pack makes it look like zzzzzzz... It's purposefully designed to cause option clickaitius; like most of MB's lineup...

Ok, I think it looked terrible in the first leaked pics, but it's starting to seriously grow on me now. Great sets of pics.

Thats the case of almost all the new gen Mercs. They are less photo-genic and in person the form & sculpture make these new Merc much better. Also the design is growing on us seeing it more & more. For instance I hated Maybach UL concept initially, later seeing more of the unofficial and official relaistic real life photos changed my view and started growing on me as much as I now feel UL concept should happen. Like wise the new CLS, A, negative grille etc.

However I do feel that MB should workout on tail light and its inner graphics. It look too plain and character less when compared to most of the rivals. Among too brands I think its only MB left with connected tail lights which has mass presence.

The new LED headlights of the GLS go up to 650 meters, 50m more than BMW's Laser lights.

Looks like the lower part of the doors on the GLS are hard plastic like the GLE. Amazing to have an "S" class with hard plastic on the door panels. What's also funny is the cost cutting on the ISOFIX latches. The second row have covers, but the third row doesn't. Crazy how they cut wherever possible.

Even some of the buttons and surrounds on the doors look cheap like spray painted plastic. This is just a visual observation.

When you look at the driver on this picture, you realise this car is huge !

Like it a lot I think it's a massive improvement over the previous one.Looks very good in AMG pack looks strong and powerful and it has the classy look and more softer look in the standard for those who prefer that I think the two different packages are done very well here and caters for those who want either very well..

Interior looks very good and the space looks amazing even the third row looks as spacious or even more then some cars or SUV second row seats also with the 3rd row up lots of space behind the third row for luggage.

Very well done and I think it's going to be a hit look forward to see how it drives and the comfort levels in the road..

Maybach version will be intriguing.

Agree, I find the rear to be rather generic looking. The graphics help give it some distinction, but remove the star emblem, and I get no sense of brand identity.

For the rearlight design they should have stuck to the diamond dust design. That looked great on the W213 and W222 FL. unfortunately MB is sorting it out: not on the CLS and not on the W213 FL.

Let’s move this conversation to the X7 vs GLS thread think it’s much more appropriate there.[/QUOTE]

What's next, headlights that can project to the moon?

Have they shown any specs for the performance figures and also weight of each engine version? I dont seem to see this in any of the magazine websites.
