GLE [Official] Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupé (C292)

The Mercedes-Benz GLE, formerly Mercedes-Benz M-Class (designated with the "ML" nomenclature), is a mid-size luxury SUV produced by the German manufacturer Mercedes-Benz since 1997. In terms of size, it is slotted in between the smaller GLC and the larger GLS, the latter with which it shares platforms.
Looks like the U.S. starts with the GLE 450 AMG 4MATIC Coupe. :)

The GLE Coupe will be available in Europe with diesel and gasoline engines with an output range of between 258 hp and 367 hp. Initially, the U.S. market will get the GLE 450 AMG 4Matic Coupe with all-wheel drive. The engine is a bi-turbo V-6 3.0-liter with 362 hp and 384 pounds-feet of torque.

Mercedes says the GLE coupe “feels like a true sport coupe,” despite the raised seating and SUV-like view.

It is equipped with a variable dynamic control 9G-Tronic nine-speed automatic transmission with five modes -- individual, comfort, slippery, sport and sport+ -- that can be set via a rotary control on the center console.

MB Passion -- Mercedes-Benz GLE 450 AMG 4MATIC Coupe

Exterior is a draw more or less, but the interior... This is what happens when you base a new model on an existing one. The interior of the ML looked old even when it debuted.

I'm a huge fan of these vehicles they really appeal to me ,something different. I usually prefer the exterior of BMW's and interior of MB's of late ,but on this occasion ,I prefer the exterior and interior of the X6 ,I at least hope the GLE coupe will drive better than the ML its based on ,the 9 speed is a welcome addition hopefully it will match or even better the ZF 8 speed found in BMW's.

I'm sorry to say, that this car is as useless, unattractive and ugly as BMW's X6. But I'm sure there are buyers out there who want just a car like the GLE Coupé and drive it from home to office, right through a big, car-congested city. (Sigh)

Yes it would, and the standard bumper of the GLE with smily face doesn't look that good. But then again, the M pack of the X6 looks ridiculous as well...

Both the X6 and GLE coupe look far better in real AMG and M tune.
And that GLE 450 is halfway there already, with a nice bodykit.

Its the same as the BMW X4 and the first BMW X6 introduced halfway through the base models lifecycle. So everything is used to keep costs down but the profits will be high because development and production will be cost effective.
The next generation will be an improvement.
Like the BMW X4 I am willing to be that this model will have a short life cycle of around 4-5 years as the next X4 arrives in 2018 giving that car a life cycle of just over 4 years, the next GLE is due around that time also.

It looks really great from the front, nice big gaping Mercedes sports grill and the bulging wheel arches and short front overhang. Rear lights look strange at first as have a similar shape to the S coupe but with the higher rounded greenhouse gives it a totally different look. The side view is really nice, I like the way the wheels fill the wheel arches (unlike the X6 which has huge space between wheels and body work).

The red color GLE 450 looks fantastic, much better than the X6. The interior of this car is a slight letdown it's not bad at all but just lacking the modern look found in the C class and S class and is probably inferior to the X6 slightly.

There are almost limitless possibilities when it comes to customisation of the GLE Coupé – and the equipment packages again play an important role. For instance, customers can give their GLE Coupé an especially sporty look with the AMG Line Exterior, including the AMG front and rear apron and the 53.3 cm (21-inch) AMG light-alloy wheels. Those who like things even more exclusive can combine this feature with the Night package, in which the louvre in the radiator grille and the exterior mirror housings are in high-gloss black, for example. At the same time, the wide selection of solid and metallic paints and the almost limitless possibilities for interior design increase the potential for individual customisation. A total of 11 paint finishes are available, of which seven are metallic colours and two are special paint finishes with special-effect pigments in designo diamond white or designo hyacinth red metallic.

The interior radiates modern luxury and can be given a design ranging from ambitious and sporty to classic and elegant, depending on personal taste. The scope here ranges from single-tone black interior appointments to various combinations in which black is used with ginger beige, crystal grey, saddle brown or porcelain. The interior of the GLE Coupé is particularly impressive in two-tone designo exclusive nappa leather in porcelain/black. The AMG Line Interior transfers the sporty look to the interior with features such as AMG sports seats, AMG sports steering wheel, nappa leather appointments and aluminium sports pedals. The designo Exclusive package is packed full of luxury: heated comfort seats with diamond-pattern stitching, instrument panel and door panelling in designo leather and the black DINAMICA roof liner provide for even more exclusive travel.

Depending on personal preference, the trim elements shine in light longitudinal-grain aluminium, brown open-pore ash wood, brown eucalyptus wood, dark-graphite poplar wood or black AMG carbon fibre/piano lacquer. Source: YouCar

The AMG Sport model does seem a bit underpowered for the GLE Coupe. The C-Class AMG Sport with 367hp is fine, but the M Performance 2 Series (M235i) (M Performance = AMG Sport) has 326hp. Only 41hp more for a car which is over 500kg heavier?

I am really surprised they still offering the lower powered 386kw/525ps AMG version as in the E-class, S-class and SL they offering only the 410kw/557ps and 430kw/585ps versions

True, it seems that way. However remember a recent Auto Motor and Sport article where the author was quite impressed with its agility. That was google translated and is somewhat hard to read in English, though. :)

Yes. Maybe MB wishes to also retain the power level of the current ML 63 AMG, in addition to the new S-Model? It might get adjusted lateron, we'll see. With the current Performance Package the ML/GLE 63 AMG makes 410 kW / 550 hp / 557 PS. :)
