EQS [Official] Mercedes-Benz EQS

The Mercedes-Benz EQS (V297) is a battery electric full-size luxury liftback car produced by Mercedes-Benz Group and part of the Mercedes-Benz EQ family. It was released in September 2021 in Germany and the fourth quarter of 2021 in the United States.
Yea, the 770 km range claim is fishy and worded very ambiguously .

WLTP test figures -
  • WLTP: combined electrical consumption: 20.4-15.7kWh/100 km;
    combined CO2 emissions: 0 g/km
Which even at the lowest consumption of 15.7kwh, translates to - 686 km.

So I am not sure where they are pulling the 770km from.

And that is for the slow as molasses 450+

For 580 -
  • WLTP combined electrical consumption: 21.8-17.4 kWh/100 km;
    combined CO2 emissions: 0 g/km
Which again at the the lowest consumption of 17.4 works out to - 620 km

Good, but not the best either.

So real range of about 500 km then....

2025

No, C-class size and below. The near term upcoming SUVs and EQE are on EVA2. None are as egg shaped as the EQS, although the EQE is closer than some in here think.

OK thank you

So EQE is more egg shape like the EQS and will look similar if I get you correctly..

The SuV E and S version will look more like the Normal SUV..

Yes, but I must say emphasize that they look more like an SUV but not like a GLE. They will still have the one bow styling which includes a fast windshield angle. Wagener says it looks more integrated and aerodynamic, I say it looks more FWD.

You know, I still feel people will find this car more striking in a positive way once it’s seen in person. It will always be polarizing. The width and styling details create presence and it does look expensive.

That being said, my geriatric neighbor pulled out their Cadillac this morning and I had to laugh. Cadillac made a much smaller, angular version of the EQS general shape and I had completely forgotten about it. This car somehow looks better than ugly in person despite being narrow, FWD, and saddled with Cadillac’s old design language...but I’m glad there was line that was not crossed with this one bow styling theme.

I think the S-class definitely has a bigger advantage over the EQS.

except for more space in the rear, i dont see any advantage

the EQS
- has a much more modern looking cockpit
- a much more futuristic style of the exterior
- a much more practical fastback trunk
- sportier driving
- quieter interior
- much cheaper ride
- no co2 release
- some new assistant and other functions

For me? GLE for sure. I love the butch look it has with this generation especially in AMG form. I can appreciate the futuristic look these EQ models are going for though.

I’ve preordered a Hummer and have a G-wagen though, so brash SUVs/trucks are my thing.

Youtuber Carmaniac managed with a EQS 580 4Matic at the speed of 150 km/h(93.21 mph) a consumption of about 22,4 kWh/100km with 21 " winter tires and a outside temperature of 4 °C(39,2 °F).

A Tesla Model 3 Long Range RWD managed at the same speed and a outside temperatue of 25°C(77°F) a consumption of 23 kWh/100km.(Youtuber nextmove, some East German)

So yes, the less range optimized and faster EQS version can achieve a range of 500 km in less optimal conditions and if you drive faster than the 130 km/h advisory speed limit of the German Autobahn.

That being said, Daimler never said that every EQS variant will achieve 770 km. They stated that the EQS can achieve a range up to 770 km equipment-related, according to the WLTP cycle, which btw tends to be realistic, unless you are a certain carmaker from California.

Why do you thing it is quiter than the S class? In the Carmaniac video they measured the noise of the EQS at 130 kmh and it was 66 dB. In 1994 the Lexus LS 400 had 65 dB at 130 kmh.

BS. In the carmaniac video the average speed was 116 kmh ( with moments of 150 kmh but obviously more with much lower speed) while in the nextmove 150 kmh was the constant speed for these numbers.

because a better aerodynamic (less wind noise)

because e-engine (no engine sound? ;) at all ? ;))

And because of this (less vibration sound)
