EQS [Official] Mercedes-Benz EQS

The Mercedes-Benz EQS (V297) is a battery electric full-size luxury liftback car produced by Mercedes-Benz Group and part of the Mercedes-Benz EQ family. It was released in September 2021 in Germany and the fourth quarter of 2021 in the United States.
Mercedes-Benz will offer a traditional grille on its EQS electric limousine as part of a wider overhaul designed to reverse a sales slump for the flagship EV.

Sales of the EQS fell back last year as customers in the sector either stuck to ICE models or bought newer EV models, including the BMW i7. In the UK, EQS sales fell 17% to 616. Across Europe, sales almost halved.

Even Porsche (round by definition) made a super successful transition towards the angular (blasphemy!!), showing balls and what must have cost them a lot of work, but the lack of commitment to the design and the sloppiness of Mercedes will make it reach that point seven years late, when this has also changed, BMW started it a few years ago when with vision they understood that an era of design had to end and move on to something else

What is it with you and angular designs?

I thought you would understand everything I wrote, everything that is written by experts and everything that the main manufacturers in the world are doing, Toyota, Hyundai, BMW, Porsche, timidly VW, and some others, the good ones, the successful ones. , you show a lack of vision by not seeing that the round is a thing of the past, that format inhabited the planet for the last 30 years, the design is cyclical and this stage is mutating, don't you see it?

Didn't you see the Macan in the photo just above?

Sonata pre FL y post FL, the organic part is gone.
Which of these Hyundais do you think looks more dated?

It's a combination of just sheer, blissful ignorance, and only being able to watch some cars on internet and not IRL.
Telling the 992 facelift is copying the M2 bumper (proving my second point, he never saw a 992 turbo in real life) or thinking the BMW is setting the designs trends.... while using giant grilles alà Audi or Lexus, split headlights like Jeep, Citröen or the the chiseled look that VAG and Peugeot has been using for many years :facepalm:

Sadly, still goes in absolute impunity ruining the forum with design and sales diatribes, delusions of being a financial advisor at Morgan Stanley; broken, unintelligible english rants, copy paste links from bmwblog, etc

At first I found him so annoying (still do), but then realizing how much time he spends and the shiploads of posts he makes in the forum, I think he must be passing through difficult times, and uses this space for self reassurance and BMW's sales as a delusional self projection of being well and successful

Trying to offend again? What cars do you see from your mansion up there in the mountains where you live? Who washes your cars? you? I' don't think so, like I told you, I know your type, I lived near you, possibly in your same neighborhood.

Thank God I can see almost all of them. I live in a country with a great standard of living for all the people, not only for some, and I drove many more than you will in three lifetimes.

Do we have to continue to read this bullshit in this thread? I have never read so much ignorant nonsense about design and sales. Will you guys please stop responding to this imbecile so he will go away.

@mods, Please read those quotes carefully for once. when are you going to do something against these serial offenders, insulting sons of dads?
I can't write my opinions in the forum? These members decide what can and cannot be written, are they the owners of the forum?

These guys have attacked me on regular bases for too long now and that speaks very badly of the community base that this place should have, they do not contribute to the forum with anything more than their absurd phrases born from their ego, nothing substantial ever and still. ...........

According to the insults spread yesterday 3/11/2024 by @Merc1 and this guy @Gianclaudio here without any retaliation, warning or complete ban or thread ban, allowing them to insult whenever they feel like it,
So I understand then that the rules on insults do not apply to them and then they do not apply to anyone, therefore I proceed to answer in the same way: are you going to do something against this Son of a bitch, Mother f#cker of @Gianclaudio and the other Son of a bitch, Mother f#cker of @Merc1? without counting the constant heavy trolling of @leylandi and @klugscheisser87 in all the threads?

Yesterday I reported this situation, but you did nothing, forced me to react due to your inaction.
This has been going on for a long time, do what is right with these people.

To be quite honest, both look ugly and both look dated.

You'll notice that most cars that are considered timelessly beautiful, don't really follow a set pattern of curvy or angular or whatever. The designers of those cars don't care about what is popular or what is in vogue or what is "of the time", they just design.

I don't think either the W214 or the G60 are timeless designs, but I'll be honest, in ten years from now, I think people will look back and think that the W214 has aged better.

The disadvantage of designing cars to look what you think is "modern" or "trendy" is that they end up looking distinctly of their time; or dated, in the future.

Not really, we are influenced by what we see, feel and perceive what we will see or how we will be original and/or unique from now on based on what is very common or popular today.
Retromodern cars are an example of the broadness of that spectrum. A Chrysler from the 90's is an extreme case of that, combining the year 1937 with the 90's in a trend that lasted throughout that decade.

We will know in a few years

It may be, which does not mean that it is relevant, neither now nor when the time comes.

I think that luckily it is born from the creativity of the designers, who are designers for a reason and know more than us, but the fact that they change in each new cycle means and requires changes so as not to bore with the same thing, regardless of whether it is pretty or ugly, If not, ask Jaguar or Alfa Romeo

Sorry for the off-topic, back to the ugly EQS

Agreed. I support MBs approach of setting their own agenda. The current design paradigm has given us 2 generations of the most attractive looking MB ICE vehicles in a long time.

Took this photo yesterday. Difficult to fathom the W222 design was presented around 11 years ago.

Where they have failed is with the EQ models. They have struggled to successfully apply their design direction to an EV given their aerodynamic and proportional limitations. A bit more body contouring and aggressive wheel arching would go a long way, but fundamentally their design paradigm is so reliant on overall proportion, that it just doesn't seem to be working well on their EV's so far.

I agree a lot only with the part about that first generation, the three lines C, E and S far surpassed their counterparts from their archrival, bought a W213 vs a G30 or a C205 vs the 3 series contemporary to it, it was a no-brainer , those Mercedes are epitomes of design.

That's why I perfectly understand your point of view regarding the similarity of the current ones, although they don't reach it IMO

The design of the rear lights in your photo is clear evidence of fluidity, which the current ones do not have; unbeatable, which is why IMO I think they should have changed now since I understand and see that this "paradigm" is aging

It's not that ugly and from the inside it's pretty good especially is you don't have the hyperscreen.
I liked it immediately in the photos, maybe in person it's half overhuelming as some say, I would like to sit on it to appreciate it well, but only one was sold in my country and I don't know the owner lol

I own an EQS 450+. Sold my C43, which I loved, but needed something bigger and got a great deal. It is an extremely smooth and quiet ride, and good pickup. I have the upgraded leather which I don't find to be as nice as my C43 designo leather, and you can tell some corners were cut, but overall a nice car with some cool tech. I generally get compliments on the look and it definitely turns heads.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder...

How much did you pay for it?
