E-Class (W213) [Official] Mercedes-Benz E-Class W213

The W213 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is the fifth generation of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, sold from 2016 as a 2017 model. It succeeded the W212/S212 E-Class models. The coupe/convertible models share the same platform as the sedan/wagon, in contrast to the previous generation. The high-performance Mercedes-AMG E63 and E63S versions of the W213 have been available as well from 2016 (as a 2017 model), and these are the only versions with V8 engines.
jesmb posted a standard version, in white. :)

i think that this is a photoshop

For once the standard trim looks very nice.
Really no need to upgrade to the AMG kit to look desirable. Looks like MB is moving in the right direction. (This standard kit looks better than the current S or C imo)

I think standard S looks very nice. On the contrary, standard C looks cheap. The ugly standard rims, the bland standard rear bumper with no exhausts, and the fake air intakes of the standard front bumper look stupid.

The standard W213 looks very nice. But the way to go is the AMG one. I hope the 5 spoke sport wheels look nice as well.

Don't worry about it. You did well.
The car is covered a little, thing is we have not seen the standard trim this close up in naked pics.
Thanks,I was kidding with Betty, the way how it's barely disguised is worth a post I believe.

You actually scored twice on this one.
Looks like a sub-live photo. This new E has substantial presence about it. It almost sits up like a Bentley in that photo.

The standard C needs improvement, I agree.
The standard S is quite boring imo. The Sport package is the way to go because it looks as exciting as a whale without it.
This new E however is looking nice either way so far. (I would be happy with the standard trim) The W213 might be paving the way for a more sporty looking standard trim for future S and C models. Mercedes was badly lacking in this area.

I Very much like the new E. The design is very elegant, without compromising its sporting ability but there are a couple things i dislike.
I really don't like how much the new E resembles the S and the C. The designs of each of the sedans are very strong but i feel the E has ultimately lost its identity.
With BMW and Audi it isn't difficult to spot the design differences between an A4, A6 and A8 or a 3 5 and 7.
When i see this vehicle on the street I'll initially be confused as the what model im seeing. The only way I presume i could spot the difference is by checking the dropping line to confirm its an E, or the two LED strips in the headlight clusters...(Or checking the E model designation from the back ;))
I always praised the previous E's for being individual, by opting for a rectangular rear light design in the previous generation rather than following the conservative designs of the S and C really set the sedan apart from the other two in my eyes, but I guess that's just my opinion. Either way a fantastic car and i'm excited to see what the AMG division do to the vehicle :D

Similar views. The car looks good but the problem is the emotion. This time round, they look to be stuck with this design "formula", just changing minor bits here and there to make each model different, without thinking about the emotion, or the seniority of the whole range. They used to do this very well, noting also the current S is still great in that respect. If someone has a pic of the entire current MB line up, i'm sure we'll find it quite ridiculous. People used to laugh at all Audi's looking the same, but honestly, you will not get the A3, A4, A5, A6 wrong, they all have their distinct face/emotion.
This - the biggest difference is the headlight graphics; and the different shoulder line, which I have no idea why this E class doesn't get the S and C class style line. So turns out the shoulder line isn't any trademark afterall.

completely agree. Each class should a familiar tie, deserves its own interpretation of the Mercedes DNA. I can presume the C, E ad S coupes similarity will be stronger than ever.

Self-driving across the highways of Nevada: New Mercedes-Benz E-Class with test licence for autonomous driving

Stuttgart – Las Vegas, USA. The new Mercedes-Benz E-Class is the world's first standard-production vehicle to be awarded a test licence for autonomous driving in the US state of Nevada. In a world first and also in time for the leading trade fair for consumer technology Consumer Electronics Show "CES" in Las Vegas, three standard-production E-Class vehicles have been approved to drive themselves.

To allow autonomous driving functions to be tested, test vehicles previously had to be elaborately equipped with special hardware and software. This included additional sensors, modified steering and an adapted ESP. That is no longer the case with the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class. The standard-production vehicle is already extensively equipped with intelligent technology. This means that, for testing purposes, it is necessary merely to make some smaller software modifications to the DRIVE PILOT control unit.

Prof. Thomas Weber, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG, Group Research & Mercedes-Benz Cars Development, stresses: "The fact that Mercedes-Benz is the world's first vehicle manufacturer to be awarded such a licence shows that we are a step ahead when it comes to autonomous Driving. The new E-Class is therefore another big step to the fully automated vehicle. "

"Nevada is proud to serve as the location where Daimler, an international automotive leader, can explore and test the possibilities of its cutting-edge autonomous vehicle," said Governor Brian Sandoval. "By collaborating with revolutionary, sustainable and creative endeavors Nevada is working to be at the forefront of emerging innovative technologies."

Self-driving tests are permitted on all interstates and state highways in Nevada, human drivers being required only for turning, merging and departing. The autonomous test drives in everyday traffic will be carried out by specially trained test drivers. Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles (NDMV) rules also stipulate that there must be one passenger behind the wheel and a second passenger in the vehicle on test drives. The test vehicles are identified by a red licence plate reserved for autonomous driving.

Nevada passed regulations on autonomous driving back in June 2011 and is seen as a pioneer. The desert state's road network, landscape and traffic volume are highly representative of road conditions in the USA. Two self-driving Daimler trucks have been in operation on public roads since May 2015.
