E-Class (W213) [Official] Mercedes-Benz E-Class W213

The W213 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is the fifth generation of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, sold from 2016 as a 2017 model. It succeeded the W212/S212 E-Class models. The coupe/convertible models share the same platform as the sedan/wagon, in contrast to the previous generation. The high-performance Mercedes-AMG E63 and E63S versions of the W213 have been available as well from 2016 (as a 2017 model), and these are the only versions with V8 engines.
There is no such concept in Australia, we get milked harder than cows do, right @Mr. Mercedes ?

Yes it is true. But to be fair, MB Australia did start of new trend of increasing standard equipment to reasonable levels. BMW and AUDI were caught out badly and are now just responding.

What I am detesting about MB Australia at the moment is how they are dictating vehicles can be individualised. On the lower end models there is little scope for customisation that is available in overseas markets, and there are few standalone options across the range. Everything must be bought as a package. And in most cases if it's not available in a package, then it's not available at all.

I think a lot of the negative/ neutral opinions will change with the live photos.

I have the feeling this is one of the few Benzes that is not photo genic. It is going to make
a huge splash in the metal though, especially the ones with nicely specced out interiors.

sorry for being late to the party:mad:....however the car is simply as I expected, a superb representation of the current MB sensual purity design idiom, but this time with more of a German grunt compared to the C or S, everything looks fantastic, proportions, dropping line, lights, though I have to study the rear lights a bit more to appreciate fully. Everything is in the details with this car, if you look carefully you will find it's relative distinctiveness apparent, however having said all this, I cannot argue with those who think there is far too much resemblance with the 205', fair point..

what a majestic pic, it looks simply overwhelming here, for me it's the luxury grill, a no brainer, which color is this??

I think that at some time begin to appreciate the projects to which we have today some doubts. I remember the controversy that aroused W212, then he was not entirely convinced of its design. Over time, this car starts to like, has a unique and original look while still being elegant and has something of the classic Mercedes. The new model is beautiful but expects him to be so robust mechanically as W212.

I don't know why but I can see quite a bit of the georgeous legendary W114 in the new E. For me, the W213 is a fine expression of the 21st century E-Class, this is the kind of E that would be remembered. It is so clean, pure and almost free of any brashness, yet thoroughly modern, being unmatched by it's competitors (yes even the next gen 5er) and the w212 E (which it bounds over significantly).

Monster You asked me what I suggest instead of today's digital display, in Spied thread. Customizable! You should be able to choose where you want the speedometer, tachometer, etc.. You should be able to choose the size of them. You should be able to adjust them vertically on the screen. You should be able to choose from 5-10 different layout, each of some of them from earlier models. You should be able to choose how much top speed the speedometer to show, so you get a meter that is clearly in the speeds you usually drive into.

I do not know what the digital display will cost. But it needs Command and Europe will cost extra plus the meter display. It may be $ 5,000 or more for both. Today, you get two additional layouts for the sum. Very bad.

I'm sure they offer that with the facelift. Remember that the S-Class came with just one option. Now you've got three. So there's hope for more customizations.

So what are the colors so far?

Based on the prototype photos, there is:

Iridium Silver
Diamond Silver
desingo Diamond White
Dolomite Brown
Obsidian Black
Tenorite Grey
designo Cardinal Red

And I'm assuming that will also include:

Polar White
Hyacinth Red
Steel Grey(?)
Selenite Grey

But what amazes me are these two:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but is that Selenite Grey Magno and Anthracite Blue?!

The classic grille is or should be the definite choice. The sports grille is out of place here. The E should be Elegant and with classic grille it is. I am hoping that the E coupe would be more edgy and a bit more creative. This time the E coupe should also have a choice of classic or sports grille. If sedan is taking the coupe territory than why not the other way around.

The classic grille is or should be the definite choice. The sports grille is out of place here.

Clearly, the Classic Elegance grill is the best looking! It's just absolutely spectacular and pairs with the sportiness and cleanliness of the design perfectly! Especially with those 10-spoke wheels, it's flawless sophistication!

The AMG package came out outstanding, however, and again, takes advantage of the designs sportiness. The large intakes, the aggressive lines, the commanding presence! I can't wait to see the E63!

Now, the Avantgarde package, to me, is rather, well, unexciting, compared to the other packages. It doesn't have the grill or chrome accents of the Elegance package and it doesn't have the aggressiveness of the AMG package. Clean? Yes. But it's too normal.

There is no doubt that the luxury grill is all glitz and glamour, and the definite one to go for, however I don't think the sport grill is too bad either, it is more understated and dynamic imo, esp. now that the new E is curvier it goes well with the overall design, it looked out of place on the edgy W212, so both grills have their benefits, seeing the sport grill on it's own, the design is pretty nice, better than the W212 or W205. Like always the AMG is a big NO from me, the AMG kits have hardly appealed to me up to this day..

The first is designo allanitgrey magno , the second smaragdgreen

I love the green colour. The red colour is very controversial as red is typically a colou that's unflattering on large sedan. I dare you to find red as a standard colour option of any other car larger than an Audi A4.

Still nothing official from MB or did I miss something? They seemed to have had the same response with the leak of the SL facelift?

I Very much like the new E. The design is very elegant, without compromising its sporting ability but there are a couple things i dislike.
I really don't like how much the new E resembles the S and the C. The designs of each of the sedans are very strong but i feel the E has ultimately lost its identity.
With BMW and Audi it isn't difficult to spot the design differences between an A4, A6 and A8 or a 3 5 and 7.
When i see this vehicle on the street I'll initially be confused as the what model im seeing. The only way I presume i could spot the difference is by checking the dropping line to confirm its an E, or the two LED strips in the headlight clusters...(Or checking the E model designation from the back ;))
I always praised the previous E's for being individual, by opting for a rectangular rear light design in the previous generation rather than following the conservative designs of the S and C really set the sedan apart from the other two in my eyes, but I guess that's just my opinion. Either way a fantastic car and i'm excited to see what the AMG division do to the vehicle :D
