The Mercedes-Benz W213 is the fifth generation of the E-Class range. It succeeded the W212 E-Class models. The coupe/convertible models (C238/A238) share the same platform as the sedan/wagon, in contrast to the previous generation. Production: February 2016–2023. Model years: 2017–2023.
The new VW brand chief Herbert Diess checked with his staff, the new E-Class.

The new E Class is definately the star for the show, just look at the overwhelming crowds. The launch of C E S class seems to be the most popular highlights from the automobile industries.

Yes something up with the engine lineup. For the U.S. there is only the E300 so far, even though there is a E400 being shown on the floor. Since the E300 goes on sale in summer maybe by fall we'll get the new I6 engines in a new E350 and E450 AMG Sport with 325hp and 440hp respectively. That would be so perfect.

The engine line up appears to be lacking in higher performance variants.

Ah im sadly not convinced

i cant deal with those headlights, or actually the graphics. they give the car a soft and kind appearence. i like my benzes to be imposing, this is very much the exact opposite.. it looks gentle.

Yes, my gripe as well. I'm just worried about the S-Class facelift.

I think it has to do with the fact that they only used one projector for the lights and it's on the inner part of the headlight. If they used two projectors or the S-Class' lenses, it would have been much better.

Is MB trying to pass the W212 facelift as separate generation E-Class?
Most definitely so, sadly it is probably the marketing people at work again, also notice they stopped using the classic grill in the photo

This is becoming a common occurrence with the all the German automakers and their marketing teams. BMW calling the the LCI 6-Series all-new and Porsche calling the 991.2 Turbo all-new; I just don't understand.

Does a car merit being called all-new despite relatively minor exterior, technology, and powertrain upgrades? It's as peeving as the model year of new cars being one or two years ahead of the actual year.

The W213 is also the only one without the headlights/DRLs on. I think they should've been on.

Also agree that the headlights look soft but I need to see them in person. I wasn't a fan of the W212 FL lights until I saw them in person and in my rear view mirror, very aggressive.

LOL...that is crazy nitpicking. When are you ever going to see it?

That said you can already see micro scratches on the center console gloss black trim.

I'm still betting that there will be an option to change it. I don't believe MB would miss an opportunity to charge for different trim options.

Its actually the Chevrolet Bolt. I was on face time in Munich with colleagues trying to get a look at the Bolt at the NAIAS but could not even get near it.

The ONLY reason I can think MB might have standardized the trim is because on some of the trims in the C-class it can feel a bit creaky when you press on it.
