The U.S. model E350 should have been had the 300hp I4. It would be a great selling point, but they pulled it at the last minute. Never understood why, oh @Serpens please??
Apparently it was all cost related. As you probably know there's a fair bit of Lexus owners that ping pong between the two brands. MBUSA couldn't keep the base price low enough at that time with the new motor and they figured [correctly] that fully loaded Lexus ES and fleeing GS owners don't care what's under the hood.
Seems strange to me given the ES starts $10k cheaper but consumers are never logical.
