E-CLASS SEDAN + ESTATE: THIS IS WHAT THE ENGINE LOOKS LIKE
MARKUS JORDAN
MAY 31, 2020
With the facelift of the E-Class, sales approval will start on June 3, 2020, if not for all engines. Mercedes has extensively revised the E-model, - in the exterior and also in the interior and now offers a more efficient range of engines. For the first time, 4MATIC is also used in the plug-in hybrids. We have all the details about the engine lineup.
SEVEN PLUG-HYBRID VARIANTS AS DIESEL & PETROL
The facelift of the E-Class will offer a total of seven plug-in hybrid variants - as diesel and petrol engines with 4MATIC rear-wheel and all-wheel drive. In addition to the use of integrated starter generators in all 4-cylinder petrol engines, the all-terrain variant is now also available with two petrol engines and new off-road driving programs for the first time.
E 350 D IS NOT USED IN THE SEDAN AND ESTATE
However, there are also changes in existing engines: in the future, the E 400 d 4MATIC will only receive a reduced output of 330 hp (instead of 340 hp previously) in the saloon and estate. In addition, the previous E 350 d will no longer be used in the sedan and estate, as will the E 350 as a sedan.
The elimination of the E 350 d is more than logical, especially since this variant will be compensated with the later introduction of the E 300 d and OM 654 M ISG engine with 265 + 20 hp.
NO CHANGES TO THE AMG MODELS
The E 63 model - without S -, however, will probably no longer exist in the future, while the E 63
S will start with model maintenance with identical or unchanged engines. The E 53 4MATIC + was also not modified for the drive .
However, the
E 300 de 4MATIC with 194 + 122 PS (306 PS system performance) and the
E 450 4MATIC with 367 + 22 PS (M 256) are new , as is the
E 300 e 4MATIC (only available as a sedan) with 211 + 122 PS (320 PS system performance).
E 300 DE: NO CHANGE IN THE LOAD COMPARTMENT DIMENSIONS
For the plug-in hybrids (E 300 de), the model maintenance does not change any loading space dimensions that remain completely identical to the predecessor. The step is 153 mm high and 593 deep (and 1,000 mm wide) for the sedan, and 126 mm high and 605 mm deep (1,100 mm wide) for the T-model.
Almost all engines can be ordered by June 3 - more will follow on July 7, 2020:
