Does anyone know if it's possible to put a Sport body kit (rear bumper, front bumper, and side trim) onto a Luxury E350? I've been offered a nearly new E350 Bluetec Luxury from a family friend at a great price but really like the sport body. I wouldn't think that it would be to hard as i believe it is just cosmetic parts that can be switched out but does anyone know otherwise? Might I run into some problems with sport parts not being compatible with a luxury model?

Everything will fit perfect, the only thing you have to chenge is Lower bumper grilles at front. The only problem that it will cost you about $3000 just in parts, plus wheels, labor and a paint job . So you might be better off just buying one that has Sport pack on it already.

Thank you. I'm being offered a 11' model year with under 10,000 miles, way below market value from a family friend whom is switching to a CLS. Even if it costs me 5,000 it'll still come out cheaper than buying new one. I can do labor myself. I also really want to do this because it is a luxury model with full tan interior which I really want but the sport's all have black/tan interiors or black/grey or black.

Nice video on the design and development of the W212 E-class. I enjoyed the wear and tear testing of the leather on the seats.

This E-Class only redeemed itself at facelift time. Pre-facelift was a mess in looks and ride also. Still my least favorite E since I've been paying attention to cars, since the W124.

The saving grace pre-fl was it's bank vault build. That thing felt like a proper Mercedes tank.

The AMG kit also looked decent.

I have sat in many W212s and they felt built to last, most things in the interior feel really solid like a proper Mercedes. The only thing maybe I thought they could have paid more attention to was the look and feel of the door trim, it feels flat and hard and doesnt feel as nice to touch as the soft pleated leather door panels on the W211. The FL models looked nicer with the updated infotainment screen and analogue clock on the center console.

According to surveys conducted by German motor vehicle inspection agencies, the W/S212 E-Class ranks among the most durable, most reliable automobiles. While the W/S212s' exterior/interior design may be "questionable", it is considered by many to be, in the sum of its' attributes, one of the best M-B sedans/estates...ever. I'm often amazed how fresh and "unused" 7-8 year old pre-owned examples appear. A very desirable car for those searching for a used German executive-segment automobile.

I believe that because the C-Class of the time W204 is tough as nails also. Both of these cars are as close to that true old-school build that Mercedes made it's name on. I just wonder how, what, when Mercedes decides on such things. It seems to me that you either get the old school build and mediocre materials (for a Benz) or you get a lighter build, but more luxurious interior. Or as in the case of the current SL you get both, but scaled down from the post. The W222 walks a very thin line between both. When I get into my W140 S500 I wonder how much that car must have cost just to put it together vs a "modern" Mercedes. I know they can do it, but it would cost too much: just put that same build in everything they make. Back in the day of the 190E it rode, smelled and felt like the E or S of the day. The DNA was just that strong. Curiously enough the new GLE feels like something like those old Benzes in it's build. Go figure.

Back in 1984 through 1986, I owned a W201 190E. The assembly and material quality was simply remarkable. And save a seal leak (fixed under warranty), a defective rear door recovery hinge (fixed under warranty) and a very slight rust blemish just over a C-pillar ventilation outlet, it was a very solid, trouble-free, no-nonsense automobile over some 100K+ kms. Unfortunately, at the time, M-B dealerships/service facilities were notorious for their arrogance. That had me defecting to BMW for an E30 320i.

I prefer this 4 light version of the W212 to the FL model and especially in this E63 AMG trim it looks great. That 6.2 NA V8 is a really charming engine with a fantastic sound and very responsive.

Agreed, the pre facelift w212 looks much better, more aggressive.

The FL was a confused car. Hard lined car shape mixed with soft shaped lights. Not my cup of tea.
