Stunning! These new wheels are awesome.

Mercedes Benz is forging ahead with a new design direction - some may not like it - but there's no denying that it's entirely theirs. Watch this space for a raft of imitation.

THIS makes me so happy. MB has regained its confidence and design leadership. It's no longer fumbling and trying to imitate. It is self confident, assured and once again at the forefront. As a whole it looks like no other car on the road. I hate to use Wagener's catchphrase but it is so pure it is going to be one hell of a task for others to imitate.

The W223 is going to be absolutely bloody glorious.

Now please Dieter, let's address these interior quality issues and make Mercedes a bastian of ride refinement once again...

The W223 is going to be absolutely bloody glorious.

In terms of technology and engineering, it's a relatively safe bet that the W223 will be the segment benchmark. It is usually that way when it comes to the S-Class. At least since the W116. A bit of "same old, same old" so to speak.

Exterior design-wise, we'll see. For me, the W126 (waaaay back in fall of 1979) was M-Bs' last S-Class grand slam. Superiority in all aspects.

I consider the W222 a grand slam. Neither the 7 or A8 have dated it.

So Jimmy...about this CLS...

...still "kinda liking" rather than "loving".
"I said, 'No, I like it. I like it. It's good.' She said, 'You like it now, but you'll learn to love it later."

I have made 2 pictures how the rear would look better for my opinion (if the rear lights would be integrated wider in the mudguard like in the 1.generation and if the rear light in the door would fell off).
What do you think ? should i send it to Wagener and Lešnik as a suggestion for the facelift? :D :D

.

This is how I imagine better rear end:

But GT4 will get similar lights...

Has it got a newer LED lighting technology or not ? usually the CLS premiered a new form of lighting tech ?

I don't think the black wheels suit this car at all. Look at how much classier it looks with a decent set of conventionally finished alloys.

Yes- in 20" or 21" form (BRABUS should be more than happy to accomodate in the case of the latter).

I must say, the integrity of the C257s' proportions cannot be reproached. The "hood/greenhouse/boot relationship" is outstanding. The rake of the A- and C-pilars very appealing.

With all due respect, but if that design came from any other brand, the reaction in here would be very different.
As somebody who is clearly more of a Pfeiffer admirer than a Wagener follower, I do not see a lot of positives in this vehicle.

My personal reservations with regard to the C257s' aesthetic are anchored in details (flank sculpturing primarily) rather than the proportionality of the "fast" 3-box architecture.

And I actually like the headlamps and grill.

I not really feeling the front or the rear. Design-wise, I am still E sedan > CLS. The CLS' offer of some less-traditional looks gives the CLS a slight edge in the interior department, but I think it's a wash since they are virtually the same in both the CLS and E.

Now, the current lack of the I-6 in the E sedan would make take a hard look at the CLS if I was dead-set in getting mid-sized 4-door MB.

MB Passion took a few more pics in LA for us. :)

Now imagine these in a showroom with the new AMG GT 4-door, new G, new GLE, and facelifted C-Class!!! Add in all the AMG "53" cars and you've for a showroom to pass out in. I personally can't wait for the E53 Cabriolet. The 2019 model year is going to be really something for the U.S. market and summer 2018 for Europe. I just hope the "53" cars have more than 429hp though. Should be closer to 500 since there will be no V6 in the CLS or E Coupe/Cabrio.
