CLS (C257) [Official] Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class (C257)

The C257 Mercedes-Benz CLS is the third generation of the CLS range of four-door sedan, launched in 2018 as the successor to the Mercedes-Benz CLS (C218). Production: January 2018 – August 2023. Model years: 2019–2023.
You took it out of my mouth. It’s as the front half of a coupe has been glued to the rear half of a sedan. The car isn’t banana enough for me.
It's hard to recognize on the pics, but the front lamps and the rear lamps harmonizes. You will see it in real life, that the designer's idea is complete.

The rear part is hard to digestible, it's true. Not a simple design, need to see in 3D.

Hm....

Front: love it!
Side: till the C-pillar very sexy, then too ''saloon''-ish and less coupe...(the passage from the c-pilar into the luggage compartment door and into the mudguard is too much ''Renault Thalia'' for me if you guys know what i mean)
Rear: disaster (cant have edgy lights to the organic body)
Cockpit: not impressed at all, because its only an copy-paste e-coupe with illuminated vents
Both generation CLS had their own cockpit, to light up and get the car above an e-class. Now this is ''only'' an 4-door E-coupe. This is not an CLS for my opinion.
And the 1.generation CLS is for me still the most perfect designed car in history, just beautiful, gorgeous and an design-icon already.

I have made 2 pictures how the rear would look better for my opinion (if the rear lights would be integrated wider in the mudguard like in the 1.generation and if the rear light in the door would fell off).
What do you think ? should i send it to Wagener and Lešnik as a suggestion for the facelift? :D :D

Thanks to you, now everybody who thought the rear was ugly will now think it looks good and you should NOT send any of your designs to Wagener or Lešnik.

Official pics didn't help, I still think it looks bloody awful.. it's just a mess.

Can I just eat half a hat ? still not so keen on the rear, the front angles look much better in darker colours.

I can't say I like it. The interior looks cool, but I strongly believe that this interior phase of MB won't age gracefully.

The range of engines for the CLS is completely new. Three six-cylinder models will be available on market launch:

  • CLS 350 d 4MATIC (210 kW/286 hp, 600 Nm; combined fuel consumption 5.6 l/100 km, CO2emissions combined 148 g/km)
  • CLS 400 d 4MATIC (250 kW/340 hp, 700 Nm; combined fuel consumption 5.6 l/100 km, CO2emissions combined 148 g/km)
  • CLS 450 4MATIC (270 + 16 kW/367 hp + 22 hp; combined fuel consumption 7.5 l/100 km, CO2 emissions combined 178 g/km)[1].

Completely disagree Giannis. These MB interiors are quite classic in their aesthetic and I think will age gracefully. It's the new Audi's that are going to look atrocious in 5-10 years. But for the time being the new A7 interior looks impressive and I would for now pick the A7 interior over this and make everyone who sits in my car wear microfiber mittens.

You know what?! No! The more I look at it, the more I realize that this car is just f***ing gorgeous, ass included! I wasn't sure, I looked at it more and more...I LOVE IT! And if you don't think so, I pity you! This is just sensuality personified!

I believe Wagener described it as "Emotionally charged with with an almost erotic beauty". The guy certainly has a way with words. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

But you are right, the more you look at it the more you realise it is one damn fine looking vehicle. I really believe the rear end is going to be glorious in person and speaks to the front end perfectly. You just don't appreciate it in 2D.

The issue with these new Benzes is when you see the first press photos you just think, 'What? That's so boring.' It's when you start to apprciate the proportion, the purity and the tiniest detail that you start to realise how pretty they are. This new CLS is as good as if not better than the original in terms of proportion.

Conversely it seems like Audi is trying to create as much surface play as they can and the impression of technicality and sophistication with sharp edges and creases. This is what Mercedes tried to do with the W212 and I suspect these vehicles will look old quite quickly. I really like the A7 now, though I feel the front grill is overly wide and the lighting trickery quite gimmicky. I love the technical sucker punch the interior delivers, though I feel it will look dated in 5 years.

BMW is at the moment straddling the middle ground and it's a very pleasing balance IMO. And things are about to get a whole lot hotter over at Munich IMO.

"Emotionally charged with with an almost erotic beauty"

So, a desperate, needy woman >:3...Hmmm...I can see that.

It's been a long time since I've seen opinions on a car's design be so polarizing. Not just here, across the web and social media.

Forget about the Aston Martin Vantage already? I've been trying to as well. ;)

These official pics totally transform the appearance of the car and it looks much more attractive, especially the red and dark grey metallics. Matt finish in grey and white is revolting and spoils the car totally. The rear end looks odd from 3/4 rear view but from head on it looks ok, but not outstanding and is the cars most controversial design aspect.

This looks so damn sexy in this red

And elegant and sporty in this dark grey

Why does it look smaller? Oh well it will grow on me. Loved the previous model. Rear lights are concerning, but I will need to see it IRL.

The front is fine. The rear is not that bad in the official pics but it definitely can be a lot better than this. After the beautiful S-E-C coupe, I really expect something better.
