XF [Official] Jaguar XF (X260)

The Jaguar XF (X250) is an executive luxury sports saloon car that was manufactured and marketed by the British automobile manufacturer Jaguar Cars. Launched in Autumn 2007 as a replacement for the S-Type, the XF was designated internally as the X250. The X250 was succeeded by the X260 in 2015.
Yes, because people buy a mid size executive sedan for the same reason they buy a Caterham 7?

Seriously, isn't there a voice inside that goes "this shit doesn't make any sense" before you click that submit button?

It's an example of how pure the motoring experience can be. There is a middle ground.

A lot of the tech in cars today is solely there IMO for manufacturer and owner bragging rights, a lot of it isn't needed, many people play with it once and never use it again.

I do agree, but I think people from the younger generation are far more easily impressed and reliant on these gadgets than we do. I saw my brother's friend who only rely on the surrounding cameras to park his 3-series, it was painful to watch.

My car has active park assist. I've never used it. On small, curvy roads, I shut off the active lane keeping system. Owner bragging rights? No, not particular. Some of it not being absolutely neccessary? Yes (active park assist, for instance). Brake assist however has "saved" me a few times allready, after a long day at the office and being not alert enough.
The problem is, that some features come in packages and you have to take them, with the extras you do want to have.

I don't have parking sensors on my car (but I would choose it if available;))
But I there are many of the new gadgets I find ridiculous and I would never ever choose. It was a lot better ten years ago when all the fancy stuff didn't exist. People are lazy and spoiled these days.

But do people actually use the tech, my car has all sorts of crap in it which I never use, I often wonder if there is simply too much tech in cars today, the most fun I've ever had in a car was in a Caterham 7, the 7 is about as tech free as you can get.

Doesn't mater, lol, they want it all the same. I turned off the HUD in my car after about 3 days. It was annoying. That said, you can't sell a car in this class without a lot of techy stuff on board, it is par for the segment.

I'm assuming the plate around the front emblem is a retracting camera or radar, similar to the S-Class.

Yes, the front emblem plate is for the ACC. They used to position the ACC sensor (in the old XF and in the X350/pre-facelift X351 XJ) in the lower grill/intake area.

Immediately above the emblem in the upper part of the grill is the micro camera for the forward aerial view.

Says fighter jock to mission control: "Control, I've just turned off my HUD because it's annoying. Gonna go in commando style..."

Yesterday I sat in a XF. Interior in real life looks good. To me, it doesn't look inferior to current E-klasse or 5er. It's Jag-typical cosy. The XF I sat in was specified in Portfolio version (most luxurious package they offer, with leather upper dash etc.). Exterieur realy looks like a XE; even an interested car enthousiast must look twice; in the showroom that is. On the road it may be different. I'll be driving the 3 litre diesel in a few weeks and take some pictures then. Looking forward to it!

It's a good looking car indeed.

Jaguar XF L spied for the first time

Jaguar XF L spy photo

Rumors about a long-wheelbase Jaguar XF have been floating around for a couple of years but our spies have finally caught the model undergoing testing on the Nürburgring.

Looking virtually identical to the standard model, the long-wheelbase variant is distinguished by longer rear doors and a more accommodating rear passenger compartment. There's still no word on how much the wheelbase has been stretched but it seems to be at least a couple of inches.

There's no word on how many engine combinations Jaguar will offer but the standard XF can be equipped with a variety of different engines including:

  • A 2.0-liter diesel with outputs of 163 PS (120 kW) and 180 PS (132 kW)
  • A 2.0-liter petrol with 240 PS (176 kW)
  • A 3.0-liter diesel with 300 PS (220 kW)
  • A 3.0-liter petrol with outputs of 340 PS (250 kW) and 380 PS (279 kW)
The Jaguar XF L will be aimed at Chinese consumers so we wouldn't be surprised if it is unveiled at the 2016 Beijing Motor Show. Previous reports have suggested the model could eventually be offered in other markets but nothing is official as of yet.

This is a nice review of the new XF from Autogefuhl. The cars styling looks great, I think its a nicer car than the XE. Interior and refinement though is its weak spot as per Autogefuhl review.

Spoiler, old boring rant about bias following:

It's fun how slow to react the Jaguar infotainment screen is, to the point it even froze. A couple of weeks ago I saw Autogefuhl review of the new Megane (and Talisman) and their screens were much smoother ( although not Audi or Bmw like)
The thing is, as usual, that piece of crap called Autocar overlooked the Jag infotainment calling it fine even if not on par to Audi/BMW, yet were harsh on the Megane system, who as seen on Autogefuhl videos, proved to be better. The Autocar bias towards Jaguar is so thick, you need a chainsaw to cut through it.

/end of rant.

It was a huge mistake to extend the glassh house beyond the rear door. So huge this XF has totally lost the 4 door coupe look the first one had, looking thin and not muscular at all.

@Carmaker1 I do hope you guys are really moving forward with the new XJ. This car, together with the XE, is a HUGE missed oportunity. A proper evolution of the first XF would have moved Jaguar much closer to the germans. With the launch of the W213 (and surely the G30 5er), this gap is larger than ever IMO.

China-built Jaguar XF L teased ahead Beijing

Jaguar XF L teaser

Jaguar has released a teaser image for the XF L, the brand's first China-built model.

Jaguar is ready to stretch the XF midsize sedan for the Chinese market where the model will be locally assembled. It’s actually going to be the first China-specific product from Jaguar Land Rover and will be produced at JLR’s factory in Changshu (north of Shanghai) where the Range Rover Evoque and Discovery Sport are made.

Set to become the first Jaguar built in China, the XF L will hit the assembly line later this year and will come to life with help from JLR’s joint venture partner Chery Automobile. This will be possible after JLR and Chery inaugurated a body shop worth $1.7 billion to cater the XF, XE, and F-Pace models.

Last year, Jaguar Land Rover was supposed to open a new engine factory at the same Changshu plant to make the turbocharged gasoline 2.0-liter Ingenium engine. That didn’t happen, but a company spokesman now says the facility will be opened in the next few months.

Getting back to the long-wheelbase XF, the model is due to be unveiled later this month in Beijing and it’s not really hard to imagine how it will look like. It’s basically going to be a stretched XF with an elongated wheelbase to enable more legroom for rear passengers. The decision to extend the XF’s wheelbase beyond the standard model’s 116.5 inches (2960 mm) is not surprising at all if we consider rivals 5 Series, E-Class, and the A6 all have long wheelbase derivatives.

Further details about the Jaguar XF L will be disclosed on April 25 when the elongated midsize sedan will be unveiled at the 2016 Beijing Auto Show.

XFL where the hell is the XF Estate, same as the XE I personally think Jaguar is nuts launching a LWB version of the XF before launching an estate.
