Mustang [Official] Ford Mustang GTD

Turns out my OptimumLap simulation wasn't far off 🤓

Although this is more than just a re-do under better weather conditions. They re-engineered the car on all fronts:
With the start of production this Spring, the Mustang GTD that will be delivered to customers exceeds the early production model that became the first car from an American automaker to lap the Nürburgring in under 7 minutes. Changes since August include:
  • Revised chassis tuning with increased torsional rigidity
  • Updated suspension hardware and alignment for even more precise, predictable handling
  • Aerodynamic tweaks for improved downforce
  • Powertrain calibration updates
  • Revised ABS and traction control behavior
  • New Active Spool Valve development

Not a perfect comparison, since the GPS speed readout cuts out at couple of places:
  • Schwedenkreutz - the last speed update was 283 and the car didn't look like it gained much speed after that
  • Fuchsrohre - last update had about +3 kph over the old run, so I just went with 281+3
  • Kesselchen - a 272 kph video frame just before braking zone. he might have gained a little bit, but I left it at 272
  • Dottinger - he might have gained 2 kph at best after the last update, but I left it there

Wish they'd have showed it with a little more telemetry, like how Porsche showed the braking, acceleration, speed and gear. I would have loved to compare this with the 992.2 manual GT3

@Revvd if I look at your chart, is it a weird thing to say that the AMG One is only on top because of very fast straight line acceleration? It's quite a bit slower on the technical parts than some others?

Yeah, that's fair. It's just a bit heavy to excel in those slower sections. But also, I think a car like that favors a bit different driving style, where the most important thing is to straighten the car to then explode out of corners using electric boost. In a sense, bad apex speeds (that you trade in) almost don't matter with mega powerful AWD hybrid.

The GTD wins because of 200 hp extra on the straight. And the GT3 is absolutely incredible.

Edit; 300 hp lol

Rumor has it that there's a customer who said the MSRP starts at $600k. Yikes 😬.

Why would they compare it to a GT3 not a GT3 RS??

This one is pretty interesting.
(GT2 RS runs 20.6 km layout on standard Cup 2)

It's cool how the suspension in track mode returns to normal ride height if you turn the car off (or lose hydraulic pressure). It's the exact opposite of Valkyrie, which cannot be towed away if the car breaks down due to suspension sag.

Finally! A downforce claim!
"almost 2,000 lb at 180 mph" (almost 907.185 kg at 289.656 kph)
Since it was engineered by Multimatic in Canada, let's just say it was 900 kg at 290 kph before conversion. That would put it at 869 kg at 285 kph, slightly more than 992 GT3 RS with 860 kg at 285 kph.

But it's weird to quote it at 180 mph, since they said GTD's Vmax in HDF mode is 295 kph.
There's a chance Farley rounded down the speed from 183 mph, which isn't as easy to remember.
Then it would be 900 kg at 295 kph = 840 kg at 285 kph... less than GT3 RS.

I know the difference is totally negligible, but this is for bragging rights, and that's why some critical interpretation is warranted.
