Z Series [Official] BMW Z4 (G29)

The BMW Z models are a line of roadsters manufactured by German automaker BMW. The Z stands for Zukunft (German for future), and has been produced in four different series with six generations consisting of roadster, coupé, sports car, and concept variants. The introduction of the M Coupé and M Roadster in the Z3 line marked the first of the Z series to have a high-performance BMW M variant. The first generation Z4 also continued to offer M Coupé and M Roadster variants. The current Z4 (G29) uses BMW's (B58B30) inline-six, its platform is the basis for the current Toyota Supra.

The SLC, the TT, and now the 370Z disappear, all the premium roadster segment is left only to the Boxster and the Z4, time will tell whether that is good or bad.

Hopefully the effort made, very well expressed in the following quote, will have its reward in the response of the buyers

QUOTE BMWblog:
The fact that BMW is still striving to allow us to indulge in such simple pleasures of life with cars like the G29 Z4 says a lot about how this brand views its customers, and the lengths it will go to in order to keep them happy.

The best Roadster on the market just now is the Mazda MX-5.
Unfortunately some areas betray its Maziat Fiata roots. But it's the best on the market!

A roadster in my opinion should raise sighs, passion and make you stay static with your head spinning as in the exorcist to see him pass, in that the Boxster was the champion, the new Z4 all say that calls a lot attention and attracts all eyes.
All the previous ones achieve it even resisting the passage of time.

The Miata is a nice small sports car and a success without discussion in sales and with great handling, but I always seemed lacking in that aspect and the indispensable wow factor to make it complete

MX-5 is no compromise. FIAT just co-opted it. The MX-5 is a true modern representation of roadsters of yesteryear...relatively simple and just sprightly enough. This is no hairy-chested monster nor does it need to be.

BTW, I am not Miata-head that's seen on Jalopnik and elsewhere on the web, but I do appreciate that we still have a car like this today.

Edited, in my previous post it is well written, it is an unforgivable mistake and I hope that the competent authorities show indulgence

You're taking everything too literally. Of course Porsche take an interest in their competitors, but I don't think they change their plans one iota. They lead and the others follow.

Even with the 4-cylinder turbo engines, once you've driven the Boxster, you don't want to drive anything else.
Well they started making Cayenne, Macan and Panamera...I think that can be called changing completely their plans and following others...?!

My original statement was "If there's one manufacturer that doesn't care what anybody else is doing, it's Porsche". What that is essentially saying is "whilst all companies copy each other and are influenced by others to some extent, if we had to choose ONE company which is set on its own path, then it's Porsche".

It doesn't literally mean "Porsche have never copied anybody ever in history"!

Why does this even need explaining? Why are people unable to grasp nuance nowadays?

This needed explaining because you expressed yourself unclear. But I believe you have now claryfied what you meant.

I'm coming back to this seeing as you brought it up again yesterday. It was perfectly clear what I said. "IF there's one manufacturer that doesn't care..." The word "if" is literally the first word in the sentance. The word "if" introduces doubt in the original premise. This is basic English. If English is not your first language then you are forgiven to a certain extent. If it is then kindly work on your comprehension before judging the clarity of another member's post.

Move on, Betty Sensitive, please....

Move on, Betty Sensitive, please....

Oh I had moved on. It had long been out of my mind. But then you contributed to it being brought up in another thread yesterday. Why should you get to carry things on whilst also asking me to "move on"? Not really fair to take something I've said, twist it, and then expect me to "move on".

April Z4 sales only Germany
Very good news
Bimmertoday, source KBA

The BMW Z4 Roadster also had a good start, with 697 buyers in its first full month of sales and already more than 1,250 times approved. The open tandem with the internal code G29 was introduced at the same time as the 3 Series at the beginning of March, it is also technically related to the sedan and apparently has a high demand.
