M3/M4 Official: BMW M3 E92 Concept

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M
Re: Officiall: BMW M3 E92 Concept

Check this out. The M3 under the covers has different rims, the same as those on many of the test cars, i'm betting those are the stock 18" rims and that 19"s which we have seen, will be optional just like on the e46. But what I want to know is why would they swap rims?

Thats very interesting. I think that might be the production version that they're going to showcase to the dealers or something? :t-hands:

Re: Officiall: BMW M3 E92 Concept

Interesting that EVO's cover says 400 bhp V8. I'm betting it's more but I doubt we're going to see specific kw / litre approaching that of the in-line six S54.

Hopefully time will prove me wrong and I can bask in knowledge that the benchmark for engine outputs has been raised yet again...

426 hp / 313 kW - those are logical power output figures for me...

If Audi "only" manage 309 kW and 430 Nm from their high-revving, long stroke FSI V8 at 7800 rpm, how would BMW achieve 330 kW and this from the same configuration without putting the revs through the stratosphere...?

Re: Officiall: BMW M3 E92 Concept

hmmm, i really try to love this m3, but i am not liking this generation like i did with the last one, it was love at the first sight. i think this generation the styling is too exaggerated, dare i say, it's a bit ricey. i will give it some time, hope the design will grow on me.

btw, when will bmw debut the sedan version?

Remember that this isn't even the production version but a concept that is a hybrid of the forthcoming M3 and M3 CSL. :usa7uh: The production coupé version M3 will debut next September in Frankfurt Autoshow (IAA).

From m3board:

Hi, this is my first post here.
I just came from our dealer. He is just doing the "Ersthändlerausstattung" for the M3. That means he is ordering the dealer car for display in the showroom.
I saw some specs:
Tires back: 265/40 18"
Tires front 245/40 18"
19" are optional
CFK Roof is standard
Xenon
6 Speed manual (no DSG available at the moment)
8 Colours will be available (some grey shades, white, black and a very redish colour)
Leather is optional

So if the leather is opional I'm guessing suede would be your other choice?

sorry but "suede", what does that mean?

EDIT: i looked the word up in dictionary,I understand now. And I have no idea.

Re: Officiall: BMW M3 E92 Concept

Sorry, didn't pay attention at the moment for tranny and in fact i'm ok with manual, but leather optional? C'mon...:t-crazy2:

Suede is more expensive than regular leather (it's leather too, but 'fluffy', J_M ;) ) I think the other option would be standard fabric.

Leather is a must imo, and so are 19"ers. CF roof standard is very nice.

Re: Officiall: BMW M3 E92 Concept

Suede is the stuff you see you the steering wheel of the Concept M3 :usa7uh:

Re: Officiall: BMW M3 E92 Concept

Well in the US suede inserts on the seats are used alot with after marketing companies, it looks outstanding with the leather surrounding it.

Re: Officiall: BMW M3 E92 Concept

Yes, and in high end cars the ceiling and dash sometimes are completely suede

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
