It's a bit different when you are in a position to buy an M5 with your own hard-earned cash. It's very easy to say "it's better" than the other 5 Series. Of course it's going to be better, it's the halo model. But just being better isn't good enough. How is it going to be better? How will it go about giving driver satisfaction? Does it justify the much higher price over the lesser models? These are the questions that a serious buyer has to have answered, as opposed to a fantasy buyer who doesn't have to give it serious thought. This is why it annoys me that when I dare criticise the M5, I get a hail of abuse from people who aren't in a position to buy the F10 M5.
As it is, I've yet to see a video/picture that is making me sign on the dotted line. This is partly due to the car itself, but also due to the lesser 5 Series being so good. Why spend 35-40K more on an M5 when a 530d is so accomplished and in 95% of everyday driving, will be exactly the same experience as the M5?
