Thanks Klier! Yeahh, lol, it's been a long story, I wrote some "Logs" about it on the W212 Official Thread I think it is, but I think some of it got moved to the E-Class Picture Thread. I got it a little over a week ago. :D

Thank you though! I appreciate that. :) :t-cheers:

Well well well.... I thought we had you locked up in the BMW camp for a while, but it turned out the other way.... Hahaha

Either way, I've just checked out the thread and your pics and I have to say the car looks awesome. With a fantastic looking interior too. I'm shocked after all your rants, but you made a fine choice!

Now back to the 5er :usa7uh:

Yeah, it's crazy, and almost unexplainable, it all happened so fast, I dunno, lol. I'm just going with it, and enjoying the car a lot so far! I was very close to coming to the BMW camp, and I gotta say, timing had a lot to do with it, as I was too impatient to wait for the F10 with M-Pack (and the initial potential mark-ups to come down, etc.).

Back to the 5'er, after a "strongly worded letter" to said Dealership, I've almost immediately received a call (Message) back. Should I call them back? :D

I went to a BMW Dealer again today (second attempt), let's just say I've had such a bad experience with this place, and my treatment there (today), that before BMW could even start to get me to warm up on themselves, I'm done. I may be childish when it comes to these things, but in such a struggling Economy, I honor Companies that stay on top of their Dealers, etc. I'm sure M-B appreciates my consistent business lately, and I've never been more proud to drive a Benz. THIS is what a bad Dealership experience can do, take note BMW! Many people vow off Cars due to one Dealer experience.

Anyway, I finally saw an F10. I sat in it, didn't drive it, as no Salesman seemed to profile me as "worthy" (I'm "young", and don't look the part of the "try-hard" SoCal BMW D-Bag owner (I'm stereotyping back here).

Upsettingly, I was underwhelmed, but this could be in part due to my crap experience.

The body is a mix of round and sharp, which either works or doesn't (I can't tell yet), and it's lean, yet still has a bit of that "BMW bloat" carried over from the Bangle era I think, which is something I'm not into.

The rear seemed pretty nice (it was parked against a wall), but it might seem a little bulbous, gotta get a better look at it.

The styling just didn't really strike me, which is fine (I don't necessarily always like "striking" designs, as they get old fast), but I don't know yet whether it has that elegance and understated opposite of the mentioned, that I could love almost eternally.

The car was dirty, and a kind of drab dark Blue, so I need to see a better example, and WITH the M-Pack.

Also, the all tan interior isn't my thing.

As far as the interior, big improvement, I liked it. It felt a lot more "right at your fingertips" than the E, and is cozy, but also not as roomy and airy feeling, and a bit more cluttered. I guess I'm used to and partial to the Benz interior themes (although they've changed a ton, so even that is hit or miss), and the Benz materials. The E's interior does feel more sturdy, solid, and abuse taking to me though.

I think materials are comparable between the two, some areas I liked the 5'ers, and some the E's, however, it'll really come down to which you're partial to.

Just got back from the BMW dealership as well KA. Test drove the 5-series for a good 45 minutes. I am impressed for the most part, but I wouldn't change our choice. Will probably write a bit of a more detailed review later on. To summarise, Mercedes nailed the E-class and BMW nailed the 5-series.

K-A, i hear ya. I'm also in SoCal, and depending on the individual salesperson, my experience either really good or downright paltry. First time I went, I was treated well. Eight month later, not so much. A week ago, pretty well as I was invited for a testdrive event by a salesperson. It's a real crapshoot.

What's the name of the extraordinary F10 on the previous page? BMW have created a truly remarkable executive saloon. The personality is such right neo-classic: Unconventionally decorated with organic lines but yet manage to command the respect of a pin striped suit.

Nice! Interested to hear your Review. Yeah, I'm glad to say, so far, I'm solid on the choice.

I agree with you. I'm VERY glad to have "My BMW and Mercedes" back. Mercedes styling was never a question to me, so in that regard, I'm so glad to be "on the side of" a BMW, styling wise, instead of against it, like before.

Interestingly, it was the W212 I was all so obviously against, styling wise. But that unbreakable SOLIDITY and Engineering is back, so it really puts these two at the top of their games.

I think the 212 charmed me so much with what it does do so amazingly, that it got me to really try and see it with a clear mind, and no "I like the older model better" mentality. Since it did all that so well, it got me on board so much so that I bought it, and now, as naturally expected as an owner, I'm just loving looking at it. No doubt my first impression was bad, whether due to old-body bias, or a true design criticism (a bit of both really), but now, all I know is, I'm just seeing it in ways I never did before, and am in a true Honeymoon with the whole car, body (Design) very much included. :D

Yup, it is. These things are so critical. A lot of people don't want to waste time with a Company who's representatives don't want their hard earned money. I feel like I want to stick it to *BMW* for that treatment, and for having such a sloppy Dealer operating under them.

Oh, I totally forgot to mention the FRONT of the F10. THIS aspect was the worst of the whole car by far IMO. The front of the W212 is very "statement"-y, and as such can be very polarizing, and can be seen as a masterpiece, or over-tried. However, no doubt it is in another league than the F10's. If the F10 had an elegant and sleek front, that would be a different story, but it looks very bland and non-Premium to me, aside from the nice headlights. The hoods cutline is just bad, and the super flat front end is quite lacking in both character and elegance/grace, so doesn't hit any note. It also looks like it hit a wall, it's so flat. Surely BMW could have done better (or put more R&R money into that area like M-B did) with the EU Regs than that?

Anyway, I'm still very impressed with the car, and will enjoy seeing them around. No "Owner Bias" or stupid "Brand Bias" here, I will continue to be a fan of the F10, unless I get really tired of them fast (doubtful), or another Dealer pisses me off.

Next time I'm going to a Dealer where I can pull my W212 up and all the pretentious Salesman D-Bags can SEE for themselves and not judge a book by its cover.

Ohh, P.P.S: The B-Pillar area inside the F10 is HUUUGE, just something I noticed.

Thanks! So far so good.

Yep, seriously, how is a Salesman gonna be pretentious toward a Customer?

I'M HERE TO LOOK AT YOUR CARS IDIOTS!! MAYBE I'LL BUY ONE!! YOU LIKE COMMISSION MONEY YES??

:D

I was really hoping when they called back, as a nice gesture, they'd go above and beyond in proving to me how much they'd love to keep the good name of BMW going, and earn my good word toward them back.

.... And offer me a new F10 for free.

.... Or at least, fix my curb rash.

No such luck. :D

^^That sucks balls. Hope the person survived that.

BTW...on June 19, I will get my chance to drive the 535 and E350 side by side thanks to BMW. Can't wait and I will come back and write a review with pics.

Plus, I'm hoping they also let me drive the M3 that I told them I would like to drive when they "asked" what else I would be interested in driving that they have. LOL

Jeez, that police sticker-job on the 5er looks better than some schemes on racing cars.

Arrest me please!! ..I'd love to take a ride in the backseat! :D

Thanks for the correction Giannis. :)

In that case... heart attack over here!! (I shouldn't joke about that).

Will be interesting to see this unmarked police car on the road:

Quite nice - would like to drive such 5-series… :D still can't wait to see this car in english and german police livery…
