8 Series (G15) [Official] BMW 8 Series Coupé (G15)

The second-generation of the BMW 8 Series consists of the G14 (convertible version), G15 (two-door coupe version) grand tourers, and G16 (four-door "Gran Coupe" sedan version) executive cars (E). The G14/G15/G16 generation has been in production since 2018, and is often collectively referred to as the G15. It replaced the F06/F12/F13 6 Series lineup. Production: 2018-
I would still prefer the first generation 8 interior

Reeeeallly? I mean, I love the outside of the E31, but the interior... not so much.

I have to say the interior is one of my favourite parts. The central console design is fantastic. It reminds me a lot to the DBS interior, which always looked fantastic (before AM ruined it).

@KiwiRob: Could you explain why you disagree? I didn't come up with some information where i put a lot of subjectivity in it. I also put my sources into it.

Whoever signed off the interior and allowed that massive blank chunk of plastic in front of the gear shifter should be fired! That’s an epic fail, any one who thinks this piece of plastic has a place on BMW’s halo model needs a boot to the butt and a trip to the nearest optometrist. After Bentley released the Continental with the most kick arse sporty luxury GT segment busting interior BMW should have realised that this isn’t good enough.

The person who designed this, wanted to put a screen in it with controls about seat heating etc. Ergonomically this was such a failure that BMW fired this person. It is said he moved to Audi.

The spirit of this beauty is crying now.
Very much.
Because of the big disappointment.
This 8-series isnt worth the name 8.
Its just an evolution of an bigger 6.
Specially the cockpit - havent seen such ugly cockpit without any imagination for years...cant belive this is really happening..

I spotted an E-Class Coupe today and this the dimensions of the 8-Series will, in combination with the low nose, slim headlights and lower roof line, result in a very striking appearance. There is no way it will be mistaken for a 4-Series.

The 40i model will be very popular once it's available.

The new 8er is a mismatch product which in a niche of so called sporty GT,it's more sporty than traditional luxury GT and more comfy and luxury than traditional sports car.but in alternative words,it's not as luxury as traditional luxury GT and not as sporty as true sports car.the nature will attract some clients who love these characteristics.

To say that this car competes with the 911 and AMG GT is too funny for words, and that is why I hit the disagree button.

The homage to the original 8 Series is clear in the interior design. What's appealing for me is the clean and uncluttered design.

It's funny how BMW has gotten plenty of stick for the lack of a halo car in the vein of a two seater sports car or mid-engined supercar. Well, here's BMW's own inspiration and interpretation of what such a car ought to be for them and fans of the brand. It's a sterling effort, brave yet pragmatic in equal measure.

There's no vanity here, just a self-assuredness of a maker who knows where they've been and where they need to go. Simply put, BMW at their best.

And if it depreciates like the 6 Series, you will be able to pick one up for less than a brand new 340i in 2021.

This is probably the most driver focused interior BMW have ever built, it’s a masterpiece. The new 8 has an interior which wouldn’t look out of place in a 5 series, it’s not coupes interior.

I think that officials from BMW said that because of marketing, but like @gdm wrote it will be more sporty than Bentley & S class and more luxurious than 911 & AMG GT.

So the smart money buy’s the DB11 V8, with better resale and better looks from a proper luxury brand. If this was badged as a 6 series I think it would be a great success but it’s not, it’s the wrong concept to tackle the market BMW is aiming it at.

This new 8 series is very low and sleek when compared to the E class and S class coupes. Even the 4 series looks more sedan like now that the 8 has appeared. I hope the next 4 series will be lower and sleeker in the mould of this car.

It is clearly it's own thing. Does not look like it is based on a BMW sedan. The 4er still shares a lot with a sedan. This 8er proves that.

But yeah, at the same time the 8er can make the next 4er a much better looking thing.

This is the thing. They talk about a 6er to see how it will be the missing piece in the puzzle?
Having seen both The 8 and the G22 there is no huge gap to accommodate a mid-size Coupe you would expect to be a 6er. Hypothetically it would need to be something different entirely.

Look at the M8 Concept for inspiration, although the rear will be toned down. But Motegi Red is a must. Refers back to the original E31 still-born M8.
I assume (having seen the M8 spyshots) that the front facia will also be toned down. Will it? If you don't mind could you enlighten us being that you've seen the car?

Also, seeing the hardware & performance specs of the M850i, it seems like the M8 is going to have to be a monster!
