Truth be told, the only 7-series I have seen in Hong Kong is in a movie. I'm not even kidding.

The movie is called 'Cold War II' and role of the Commissioner of Police rides in a chaffeured 740Li and other main characters also drive BMW's.
I saw an advertisement on the movie. Is the new Bmw 7 a replacement to the actual police commissioner official car?

I doubt it, the Commissioner of Police of Hong Kong probably rides in a Volkswagen Phaeton (3.0L engine model) like all the other top ranking government officials.

Dutch price of the M760Li is official: from 242.000 Euros. In comparison, an S600L costs from 228k, the S600L Maybach from 254k, and the S65 AMG from 307k.

Either way, it's the most expensive Bimmer ever made.

I wonder what was the price of 850Csi back in the day, and converted to what it would cost now

Once you become entirely proficient. You can use the sleight of hand and people think you're some kind of secret agent.

Fag-packet maths time!

Don't know in Euroland, but in the UK the 850CSi was the most expensive car BMW had ever sold* and was £77,500 - 1.4× the cost of a 750i, and 1.5× the cost of an M5 at the time. If we multiply current 750i and M5 numbers by those multipliers it would put the 850CSi at around £112,000 (currently about €133,000)

*this is according to Performance car who reviewed it at the time. However in 1979 the M1 was about 100,000 German Marks, which was about 3 times the price of the contemporary 728i (base-ish). So based on the G11 730d (base-ish) costing about €85,000.. at 3 times that, the M1 would be €255,000 in todays money.

So using these very fuzzy comparisons, if Klier's right, BMW are pricing this as though it is the modern equivalent of the M1!!!

this is one of the few pictures on the net of a crashed G12 :(

unfortunately a police car crashed my car while chasing an Audi… why? because the Audi driver was "breaking the law" by tinting his windows above what is allowable and he refused to stop to get a ticket.. so lets chase him and endanger other road users…smh.

as you can see..the windows were slighty opened to let the airbag powder escape, hazards were switched on and the car automatically called the dealer emergency center... i remember someone speaking to me shortly after the crash.. which is helpful, especially in more severe situations.

not sure if i am going to order another one.. heck i might end up buying a challenger for now and wait for the facelifted RRS.. who knows.

the car wasn’t perfect, but overall.. it was a nice short 6.5 months. i will miss her.

What a joke, gimmicky laborious waste of time lol!
It's stupid. You can shove your car in a tight parking spot, but you block the entrance to the car next to yours. This feature is a nice 'fck you' to other people driving normal cars.

This is one view. An other one is when your car is blocked you can leave via the remote control the parking lot in an easier way.

As a police officer you never know what is the reason why a driver tried to escape. Is it only the small traffic violation or has the driver still other reasons?
- the driver could be drunken
- he could transport drugs or weapons
- the car could be stolen and the owner doesn't noticed the theft why the car is still not in the police searching system
- it could be a warrant of arrest out for the driver ( you can find out who is the owner, but is he also now the driver? )

Questions and still more questions for the chasing officers.
But the civilian is seeing only the little traffic violation and not more.

Nevertheless is also one important point to gauge the situation and circumstances every second and to stop the chase if you say the risk for you and innocent bystanders is to high.

@HMS I'm sorry your car got so badly damaged. I'm also interested to hear what your gripes with the car were over the time you owned it?
