7 Series (G11) [Official] BMW 7 Series (G11/12)

The BMW G11 is the sixth generation of the BMW 7 Series, produced from 2015 to 2022. Model codes: G11 (short-wheelbase version), and G12 (long-wheelbase version) luxury saloons, collectively referred to as the G11. Production: July 2015–2022. Model years: 2016–2022.
Quite right, I made an error here. The B57 is indeed the newest version. The one found in the 5er is still the N57.

@Mick Briesgau

This is a great site which explains the BMW engine codes over the years.

I have a continuously updated spreadsheet that I use to log stats of the models offered by Audi, BMW, MB, and Porsche. Doing that helps me understand the development of engines and how cars have progressed over the years.

What do you guys think of the tech design of the speedo/tachometer? I find it disappointing for the supposed top of the range product from a tech leader..

Clean, simple, familiar.

Considering a good HUD is much more useful, I'm beginning to think some modern instrument clusters are a waste of resources.

It's the standard version, I instantly thought it was strange to see this car comes with the basic dash and not the full LCD screen, even before I read your comment.

The vid may come from a test car or something, it's not yet out I believe?

Maybe cause the speedo has increments in MPH instead of Km/h it looks a bit sparse in the speedo, but this will be system that you can configure and change the look of the display for different driving modes.

Acceleration on 760iL is really quick:

0-100kmh in approx. 4sec
0-160kmh in approx. 8sec
0-200kmh in approx. 12sec
0-250kmh in approx. 18sec

There should be no such thing as a basic dash for any 7er, even a four cylinder car.

Yes, his car.
And also in the new Panamera, you have to pay for the good stuff, because their whole business model is based around optional equipment. Same for BMW.

Oh Please. Your Panamera has rows and rows of fake buttons that are no buttons unless you pay 20k extra.

You are like a child! LOL!

Be a little more mature.. We are talking about the BMW 7er, not other brands. And we are discussing the fact that BMW's top of the range M760iL has an entry level screen setup which should not even be optional in base trim. Or do you disagree with me @klier ?

BTW - even a Rolls Royce has optional extras..

The primary human/car interface in the top of the range product should not be entry level. Add the unseen tech extras in elsewhere..

PS - not really the case if you go for a Turbo S, which is the equivalent to the M760iL..

And again, I would like to point out that this is a forum run by friends, for friends. I'm all for a bit of light-hearted banter, but let's keep it nice.

Questions? Feel free to send a PM to me or your mod-of-choice.

You are presenting this screen as a fact. Have you seen the standard option list for the M760Li already? Is it already out where you live? Do you know this YT vid is not from a test car? Maybe an idea to read post number 2412 a bit better?

Doing some research on the German BMW website, the M760Li xDrive doesn't go on sale until November, so no info yet on whether the multi-function display is standard or not.

I totally agree with you @JLBM for a car in that bracket especially a top of the range model such as the M760iL which costs about 150K Euros the top notch display should be standard. The S-class has a full digital display even on the S350d and S400 base models and is the same as the one used in the S65 AMG (except the AMG instrument graphics included).

What I just noticed is the display on the video on the M760iL doesnt even show the M-motorsport badge. The much less expensive M235i has it shown on the right side bottom of the instruments.
