This car will be the most agile 7er to drive with its light front end. The power is more than enough and because of the weight advantage it will be almost as fast as 740i. Similar to 328i and 335i. The only drawback is the engine refinement.

Good, bad or 'amazingly fantastic'. Imo a 4 cylinder doesn't belong in a S-Klasse, 7er or A8. No matter how great the motor will be, it will never give the luxury feeling of a 3 litre 6 cylinder or 4 litre 8 cylinder. Try it, if you don't believe me.

Sure, but isn't that a whole different subject? I was originally saying this car will bring you to the top of the hill just fine, without having to make a huge effort and 6000 rmp.

Yes and do not rule out a 730eDrive either.

530e will have more power than 330e, probably about 280 hp so 730e will have the same drivetrain system?

I see this as technology advancement more than anything. You should be happy that a V12 is still to stay for the ultimate flagship model.

The i8 is an ugly supercar....mmmm....sports car, but a 725d will be a very interesting car. 170kw and 450nm and with super economy to match, probably 4.3ltr/100km (115g/km). About 7.0sec to 100km/h as well will be mighty impressive for a 4-cylinder luxury car. This car will probably be better than a 730e hybrid model.

You and I have a different idea of what a supercar is.

the point is, lower emission, smaller engine, more power, more torque.
get over it mate, used to think a S class and 7er should at least have a V8. now, you don't expect anyone to dumb down a 6cylinder to get it to the same level of output and emission to a 4pot which might be compressed a little more; and no one's going to pay the premium.

The 5,456 units of i8 sold for one year turn it into an almost mainstream car. And its priced like a supercar. BMW could never dream of such numbers with a conventional supercar. I remember 8 series in the 90s hitting hardly the 2000 units per year mark.

The i8 is the progressive sports car our direct competitors wish they can do but can't. The question is when they get round to doing it and they will who will be first? Because no one wants to be accused directly of following BMW.

Anyway back to the topic in hand and especially for our South African friends.
The new BMW 7er is officially now available in SA.

Of course offering stunning views, amazing coastal roads and a highway directly through the city of Cape Town is some of the reasons BMW keep coming back to Cape Town. Of which there will be a visitor there next month prior to its Premiere in Munich and Dingolfing this Summer.

No, You said it would bring you to the top and in the same post referring to other cars that, in your words, were much slower and mentioned some from 0-60 figures. I said that those figures were irrelevant and only thing that counts is Torque. Especially when you want to get up a hill

I was never comparing an I4 to a I6 or V8. Just saying MB's V6 is slower than this I4.
The 730i has got plenty torque.

Maybe a S250d with the new OM654 engine with 231PS/500nm could follow.
