I think this cockpit without alu switches would also suit to the 7-Series and would favoured from some customers.

Are there any differences between standard and luxury line referred to switches and suchlike?
Anywhere was mentioned the luxury line would get a console similar to or like the 7.
But the price list gives no hints on it.

I agree. The reduced bling interior and exterior on the 5-Series does make look more sophisticated than the 7 series. I think the M-Sport 7-Series should have black buttons like the G30.

Eventually. But it would not be a bad thing. They can do wonders with a Six Cylinder. So there will be no significant drop in power but increased efficiency.
When the 550e comes that is also a six cylinder as is the 550d.

I do like straight sixes a lot - but you can't beat a v8 in a car like the 5 series.

In a 3er - hell yeah! The current V8 gives he 5 series a real USP

The E class looks terrible. A6 still has some life left in it.

I'm of the opposite opinion. I think the E with AMG package is striking even, while the A2 is still the most interesting car that Audi has produced in my eyes.

@rs271 @Centurion I think had the 7er not been introduced with the alu enhancements interior, people would have really compared it to a 3er interior. But having options to opt out of that if it's not your taste is always nice.

2 air breathers on the M5 will look incredible!

Is it confirmed if they're using both tail pipes? Or are they using only one, and having the other for symmetry? (I hope it's the former!)

I'm dont think it's been confirmed yet, but I can't see this car having a single set up.

I'm guessing only one of the inferior models exhausts is real

Will even the 520d and the Efficiency Dynamics model also have twin pipes?

We will have to wait and see! I'm guessing (and hoping) they will!

Interesting point - I agree. I have read numerous pieces of text where acknowledged design experts have lauded the E60 for what it brought from an exterior design perspective.
And, I do recognise the significance of some of the details such as the introduction of complex, "flame" surfaces. But, as necessary as the E60's revolution was, for me it was too much of a revolution over one of my favourite BMW sedans of all - the safe yet still progressive (and lovely!) E39. To my mind, the E39 is BMW's W124.

What was the general reception of the E60 's release? How was it received? The whole shape, front and back changed from the previous designs. I was very young at the time, so cannot recall!

I'm quite dissapointed about the design of the new 5-er. Outside there are too much going on seen from the side. Too many lines and creases, the double shoulder lines and the hockeystick on the lower part of the body is just too busy for me. I like clean lines. It also has a too tall stance for my taste. Inside is even worse. It seems like a lot of boxes forced together, there are no natural flowing lines binding the hole dash together. And the worst part is the unintegrated screen. It doesn't belong in a car in this segment at all.

Public opinion of the design was that it was polarising and divisive.

I am liking what I see. I do think the exterior (and hope) that this is the most refined design of the current design "theme". There is an improvement all round compared to the F10 but they really need to do something quite different next time round.
I think while the interior resembles much of the 7series, the 5series seem to hint a bit more of the new interior design philosophy/theme seen in the latest concepts, slowly getting there although i don't know why it has to be this slow...
The design looks boring but I think if we're 10 years or more back, when BMW probably had half the number of models, or let's say if we ignore the 2series GT, ignore the X4, ignore the X6, ignore the 5GT, ignore the X2 concept etc., the difference between a the 5 and 7 series is exactly what you'd expect. The fact is there are too many models now and we think they all look too similar.
