2 Series [Official] BMW 2 Series (F22) Coupe

The BMW 2 Series is a range of subcompact executive cars (C-segment) manufactured by BMW since the year 2014. The 2 Series was created when BMW spun-off the 2-door models (coupé and convertible) of the BMW 1 Series into a separate series.
43700 Euros is base price for M235i. No one knows about LSD yet. And at least in the US, 19" optional wheels available, although we haven't seen it yet.

What a premium over the M135i... which is a bargain and now this isn't!
Would be great if we get the 19" option here.
Its weight compared to the F20, anyone? That alone can justify the price tho I highly doubt that they shaved much if any!

^ 50 kg less than F20?

Amazing. This will be the ultimate driving BMW!

45kg lighter than the F21. 50kg lighter than the F20.

Very impressive weight saving.

I've just noticed that the power according to the German BMW site is 326hp. It was frequently mentioned as being 322hp. This confusion is obviously down to people not realising the difference between hp and bhp.

So, the obvious cars to compare it with are the E46 M3 and the 1M Coupe.

M3 (E46)
343hp
1,570kg
Power to weight ratio: 218hp/tonne

1M Coupe (E82)
340hp
1,570kg
Power to weight ratio: 217hp/tonne

M235i (F22)
326hp
1,455kg
Power to weight ratio: 224hp/tonne

Oh my God. What a weapon this is going to be.

This gets better and better. Best front end on the entire BMW line up.

While it won't pack as big of a punch, imagine how much the 228i will weight with that N20 sitting all the way back to the firewall....

Regardless, I'm convinced that there is still plenty of room for an M2. With alu doors and hood, CF roof and trunklid, that thing will be even lighter than the M235i with more power. Can't wait.

Yup 228i will have glorious power to weight ratios. Will feel very nimble.

Damn guys, a proper drivers BMW again! Can't wait for the first drives..

The M2 will (imo) have an I4 with more power than the I6 M235i, but a lot lighter. Like the E30 M3.
And this way, the M2 will have an I4, M3/4 an I6 and the M5/6 a V8. It makes a lot of sense.
And the competition (A45, RS3) will have an I4 too. Well maybe the RS3 an I5 I don't know that one..

What rubbish are you sprouting again? Don't you know that BMW have completely lost their way and can't make good driver's cars anymore? Sheesh.

The F20 is overweight, so not an impressive weight benchmark to beat. The M4 will be a better driver's car than the M235i, especially if the latter is not fitted with the optional LSD, which we don't know the price and weight of yet.

Now an M2 like @warot was describing (see below), that may well be the ultimate driving BMW.

I was thinking about regular Bimmers, not BMW M :) clearly an M3 will be a better car :D
And we can check the weight of the LSD by checking the M135i technical data no? I'm on my phone, too much if a hassle right now for me..

Edit:

And regarding the press shots: I sort of stand corrected, the second batch of photos looks amazing!!

I thought that M235i is supposed to be between regular BMW and M.

The M135i does not have the option of a real (mechanical) LSD at this time.

@marley71 - SIIIICK! I can't believe how good this car looks from that angle.

@klier - Point for discussion: why would one spend more on an M2 with an inline 4 when I could have an M235i with inline 6 and LSD (if genuinely available as an option)? Just putting the question out there...

Yeah it's maybe in between, but it's not from BMW M or BMW i :) it's still a 'regular' BMW.
And I was under the impression the 135i recently got some sort of e- diff? Or has that yet to happen?

Because the M2 would have added weight loss apart from the much lighter engine, it will be much more dynamic with less weight over the front axle, it would get a proper LSD, probably the M4 one (like the 1M got the M3 diff). And what would be the point of M4 if M2 came with the same engine?

geez 50kg lighter than the F20 that's amazing.. where did they shave off the weight? don't these two cars share pretty much same components everywhere??
I'm glad BMW made that track video, yea, in order to do those moves it needs to be RWD, i hope we will keep seeing videos like this.
