Continental GT [Official] Bentley Continental GT (Third generation, 2018-

Banishes the Phaeton era Continental to the dustbin.

Took long enough.

At the same time, it's a testament to how great the Phaeton platform was. I'm no accountant, but the success of the last generation was a good ROI for VW despite the Phaeton itself being an utter flop.

So, what do we think - is this car going to become a classic in 30 years time?

In other words - should you buy one, and keep it (for your children)?

Considering that "condition 2+" M-B C126 560SECs' with 50K or less kms on the odometer are curently trading hands at around 40K Euros (circa 65K Euro new in 1987), I would surmise that the new CGT would constitute a relatively good longer-term investment. Probably superior to that of a comparable M-B product (C217 S65 AMG), I reckon.

We should be getting full reviews soon.

Details. Perforated steering wheels are underrated:

I also like perforated steering wheels because - when new - they look great and have a pleasing texture.
The problem with them (and I'm not suggesting that CGTs will do nearly as much mileage) is that with protracted use the perforations fill up mainly with - yuck - skin cells from your hands.
It's inevitable - no matter how clean you keep your hands.
So, my suggestion is to drive your CGT with fancy (and poncy-looking) driving gloves.

Why some people compare Mercedes S65 AGM with Bentley Contenintal GT. Maybe on paper there are competitor ( the same price). But in the real world is Bentley much more exclusive as Mercedes. Just the name Bentley is a hundred times more exclusive as Mercedes.

I know for a fact both Rolls-Royce and Bentley benchmark against the S-Class. The brand perceptions may well be different, but they are chasing the same peoples money, that's why it is relevant to compare them... however they want to dress it up, they're still trying to pinch each others customers.

You're right. But i see Mercedes, Audi, BMW as premium Brands. Rolls Royce, Bentley, Aston Martin, Ferrari... as exclusive Brands. Mercedes S65 AMG looks like just bigger C coupe, on the other hand Bentley Continental GT looks unique and much more prestige in my eyes.

Yes we all know this, price will do that. There hasn't been anything exclusive about a Mercedes since the first ML hit the road. Now certain models maybe be exclusive, but a Mercedes in general no. Same thing for all the rest: BMW, Audi, Lexus etc. All mass market luxury now.

The GT is gorgeous in person; I was impressed more than I though I'd be. Nothing under a million is touching the GT's build quality. Not even the Phantom 8 I sat in right after.
Sako thank you for your detailed impressions about CGT! Build quality looks exceptional on photos, but it is much more convincing when we get first hand impression. They will sell V8 and hybrid versions like hot cakes!

Saw the GT again. Ridiculously nice car. Just needs more wheel options, perhaps more 3-dimensional rims like the last gen.

This looks as good as atomotive gets nowadays. I would only change that so so looking two style wood insertion.

So what is the general consensus? Is the CGT interior better built than the Panny one?
By a long shot.

It’ll be relatively comparable if you go Porsche Exclusive everything on the interior. However, a full Porsche Exclusive Panamera Turbo would cost the same or more than a Continental GT.
The Bentley will be built in far fewer numbers and of course has a certain amount of handicraft that is not possible on a normal car assembly line.

Let’s not forget that Bentley is the true heir to the long history at the Crewe factory. There is a genuine sense of history and culture in that factory ...with two or three generations of some families having worked there. BMW had to reinvent Rolls-Royce from the ground up whereas Bentley had the advantage of retaining its cultural heritage and most of the skilled workers at the Crewe factory.
