Continental GT [Official] Bentley Continental GT (Third generation, 2018-

No, I sat in the 2018 Phantom VIII Launch Edition right after.
Interesting, because the sales representatives at the Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Brussels seemed to be adamant that leather steering wheel is an option, at least when I talked to them during the Brussels Motor Show last month....All that aside, the interior quality of this thing is exponentially better than that of "at least" the Wraith, absolutely no question about that

Ive spent a considerable amount of time sitting in all three, and I have a FL S63 with designo Exclusive coming soon... the R&D processes for material sourcing is well advanced of the other two.

The useage of glass and metals is next level, nothing that is visible is shared with any other VAG brand. The statisfaction you feel when you press the center console buttons leaves a big impression.

- 0.3mm gap between the rotating screen and the veneer panels.
- 2 miles of interior stitching & 310.000 stitches. No other car comes close.
- Every knob is diamond-knurled metal.

What annoys me about the $500k+ Phantom is how BMW shared parts and plastics are in plain sight. Zero attempts to make it “bespokely” RR. I’m still waiting for the day a RR has a leather steering wheel column. Or a non-7 series sourced steering wheel column for that matter.

I love the S Coupé’s interior, but there are some quality aspects that are a tad suspect. Lots of parts are shared across the MB range at this point. A S65 interior is no different from a S560 with full Designo.

Glass or metal; no plastic:

Nice write up. Aren’t those Panamera buttons? I’ve sat in it and although build quality was good the interior was ver Panamera like. Both in terms of screen, buttons and layout, height, angle of console.

The electronic hardware underneath is the same as the Panamera, but Bentley refinished it and added actual glass buttons instead of a flat panel with haptic feedback.

No Rolls-Royce R&D here, just sourced from the BMW range. All Phantom seat switches come from the F01 7er (& Ghost), but are coated silver.

Fair enough, though I wouldn't be surprised if you can also customize that, as they were telling me out here in Brussels

Damn nail in the coffin type of pictures.

Correct...I know I have pressed buttons like these before. Bentley did not engineer all new buttons. I remember thinking I had pressed a handbrake button that was almost the same as the CGT buttons. Rear of the Panamera? Help me @sako97 lol!

What’s your question?
Yes that the rear 4 way climate control screen of the panamera.

I still love the Phantom (though those pictures leave me devastated)....is it bad?
Yep it’s pretty damn bad

Whether you can customize that or have the steering column covered in leather, I still can't believe RR didn't cover that for their fully loaded press car, even the rotating switch at the end of the stalk is black plastic. It is simply not acceptable in a RR Phantom.

Question is that I have pressed buttons like the Bentley CGT. I just don't remember which vehicle. The Panamera rear seat has similar buttons but I don't think that was it. Anyway, my point is that Bentley did not spend millions of € for all new buttons.

Well BMW certainly didn’t for the RR either and it shows.

I don’t care what they spend as long as it looks good

Wow i'm actually shocked to see and know that 500K RR doesn't have leather steering..Kudos to Bentley for offering that on thier baby coupe. Why didn't you order the new CGT instead of the FL S63?

That looks like a console from the Death Star.

I haven't sat back in the Panamera with that display, so don't know if it's the same buttons. I know the front center console is one flat panel. The buttons on the GT's center console felt cold like glass and was extremely sturdy to the press.

Leather steering column was also standard on the last Continental, as well as a full leather headliner (a $8k bespoke option on the Phantom).

I know I'm being nitpicky, but for the this price and brand name like Roll-Royce I expect nothing but the best materials. Nevertheless, it's a superb automobile.

Yeah @sako97 , what made you not go for a Conti GT?

I placed an order the MB before the GT was revealed, so that's the main reason. I also missed having a S.

I learned the hard way with the last Continental GT to never buy the first model year of anything. I'd only be interested in the 4.0L V8, which is a year or two away.

An additional question on the infographics, @sako97 , how is the meter cluster/ infotainment screen/HUD? Are the graphics/speed as good as they seem in the pictures?
