Mulsanne [Official] Bentley Mulsanne

It depends on whether you have married into the family of a Bentley repair specialist.

Servicing costs won’t be frightening but a hose leak or suspension rework can be VERY costly because of the lack of used spare parts and a minority of Bentley specialists. However, if you buy a £60-70k Mulsanne it would be sensible to budget £8,000/year for repa...
Servicing costs are not repair costs and a premium car should not need any repair at least up to 100-125k miles.

RIP Bentley Mulsanne - very sad day. Last of it’s kind.

Will there be a replacement?

The Mulsannes' retirement will herald a halo car that brings Bentley Motors into the BEV age. Progress in battery development (solid state presumably) will dictate the cars' presentation date. No earlier than 2025 apparently. And it is highly questionable whether this car will be configurated as a "conservative" 3-box sedan.

The EXP 100 GT pictured above may provide us with some remote hints regarding the cars' design elements.

^^
Given how chiselled and majestic the FS looks, I am not surprised that the Mulsanne will not have a like for like replacement.

It’s a low volume car and coupled with diesel gate and the cost of investing in EV technology, there is little business justification for investing in a custom platform for the Mulsanne and updating its ancient engine.

The vast scalability of BEV platforms is a major asset. In the case of Bentley, a VAG PPE platform derivative that can accomodate up to 4 e-motors and solid-state battery packs would appear to be the logical foundation that underpins its' halo automobile. Economies of scale, impressive packaging advantages versus ICE platforms hence enabling a multitude of configuration possibilities, whether sedan, sedoupe, or some form of crossover, affording designers an ideal canvas to realize visually stunning automobiles are of key significance. And this will be trend that will find increasing application when it comes to the mesosphere of automobiledom, not only at VAG. Rolling BEV platforms/drivetrains produced by, for example, Bosch/Benteler, ZF, Rimac, Rivian among others, will be provided to smaller, highly specialized boutique manufacturers of highest-end automobiles.

A legend in my eyes, loved it from day one to the last. Just like the Arnage.
I hope whatever comes next is baller as these before, but knowing bentley these days its gonna be something to behold.

I am super excited about high end BEVs by Bentley and Bugatti. Although the Tycan is fast, it hasn't pushed boundaries.

No replacement?

Bentley will soon have one less model in its lineup but a new flagship when production of the low-volume Mulsanne large sedan ends this spring.

The British ultraluxury brand said Tuesday that the redesigned Flying Spur sedan will take over as the flagship model going forward. The Bentayga SUV and Continental GT coupe and convertible now round out the portfolio.

It's the latest sign that consumers worldwide continue to migrate from traditional passenger cars, no matter the price, prestige or pedigree.

"This decision has been taken at a time when we are experiencing significant customer demand across our other existing model lines," Chris Craft, Bentley's board member for sales, marketing and aftersales, said in a statement. "As such, we will be redeploying all of our manufacturing colleagues who currently work on the Mulsanne to other areas of the business."

Bentley sold 11,006 vehicles globally in 2019, an increase of 5 percent.

As a sendoff for the Mulsanne, Bentley created a special edition, the 6.75 Edition by Mulliner. It comes with unique design details inside and out, including an engine number plaque signed by Bentley CEO Adrian Hallmark. Bentley will build just 30 units.

The Mulsanne's long body and wheelbase gives the sedan a commanding presence. Under the hood is a 6.75-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine.

Bentley sold 103 Mulsannes in Europe in the first 11 months of last year, three fewer than in the same period the year before, according to JATO Dynamics market researchers.

Its definitely one of the best Bentley saloons in the last 30 years. Truly elegant and majestic car that has huge status. Will be truly missed and I hope the future BEV Bentley of the future will have a great design that will top this beaut.

No surprise. In the past 6 months I have probably seen more Bentygas on the road than I have seen Flying spurs and Mulsannes in the past three years.

Here in the UK the Bentayga's done ~1800 units. The Mulsanne ~660, and the Flying Spur ~700. There's no accounting for taste!

I don't know what to say, really. Are they going to replace it or is it going to die without a successor? If they choose to replace it, will the EXP 100 GT concept serve as a base for its electric replacement?

The Flying Spur takes the post, the Musslane will have no successor at least for now, perhaps in some years ...

Sigh.................

M
Seeing those photos of the Musslane, I come back to reality, the Flying Spur doesn't even come close to its heels in elegance, overall design, presence and impression of luxury.
