He's Legendary.

I still can't call it on this car though. I have yet to see it in person. It has the best interior you can buy in a car, along with the Mulsanne, but that over all froggy shape I'm not sure about. It's absolutely breathtaking from coming towards you in the video, but that side profile. I've got to see it. I think the look will be killer on the Flying Spur, and where is the Convertible?

I loved this car at debut time but don’t really like the exterior design anymore. The shape of the front and the tail light treatment don’t do anything for me. I’m in the minority though.

The all new Bentley GTC will be launched in Shanghai on Nov.27 this month, and it also will be shown in 2018 LA AUTOSHOW which begins on Nov.28 the same month.

Major VAG shareholders, the Porsche/Piech family (aka Porsche Automobil Holding SE), have set an ultimatum of "up to but no longer than 2 years" for a turnaround of the Bentley Motors subsidiary. While not explicitly mentioning consequences of non-performance, spokespersons have alluded to, for example, the discontinuation of a model line (Bentayga...Mulsanne ?) as well as a faster-track electrification of the brand (alluding to a shared BEV platform for the successors of the current Audi A8 and Porsche Panamera as well as a new Bentley line of cars).

I have always wandered how Rolls Royce is performing financially. BMW are not giving any separate information except the intention to leave the impression that it is exceptionally successful

The Chinese will buy it :D

I strongly suspect that the powers-that-be in the VAG organization are closely exploring the "success potential" of future Bentleys that will NOT be produced/assembled in a post-hard BREXIT U.K. Will the relinquishment of the brands' perceived "British panache" leave potential future customers avoiding the brand ? Or will an awareness of the already substantial "German input" (body stampings in Zwickau, body-in-white assembly in Leipzig, for example) render the "British image factor" increasingly negligible in a new, progressive, digital, tech-savvy marketplace ?

With VW Zwickau preparing to become a dedictated BEV vehicle facility, Stuttgart-Zuffenhausens' Porsche Taycan manufacture as well as Audi Sports' new Böllinger Höfe (upcoming eTron GT) assembly plant, one would think that capacities would be sufficient (or could be easily expanded) in accomodating future Bentley products.

Bentley is teasing a "Centenary Edition" Continental GT as its' 2019 Geneva Motor Show premiere. Fair enough I reckon. But yet, I would have preferred some "New Flying Spur" teasers.

I cannot help but suspect that the BREXIT calamity has thrown a huge spanner in the works.

Hard to believe that the Bentley is "only" 400k more expensive than the Merc. You'd have to really love Mercedes to buy the S63 over it.

INSPIRED BY A RACING LEGEND: CONTINENTAL GT NUMBER 9 EDITION BY MULLINER

Distinctive Continental GT celebrates Bentley’s centenary year
Mulliner will handcraft just 100 limited edition collectors cars
Unique design inspired by Bentley’s illustrious motorsport heritage
Number 9 badging honours Birkin’s historic ‘Blower’ Bentley
Each model features wood insert from seat of his Le Mans race car
Two exterior colour options available – Viridian green or Beluga black
Heritage hides echo those found in cars from the ‘Bentley Boy’ era
Exclusive British Jaeger dashboard clock inspired by 1930 dials
18K gold plated organ stops inspired by those of vintage race car
Limited edition makes global debut at Geneva Motor Show

(Crewe, 4 March 2019) Bentley has created the ultimate collector’s version of the all-new Continental GT to celebrate the company’s centenary in 2019.

The Continental GT Number 9 Edition by Mulliner is inspired by Bentley’s illustrious motorsport past and incorporates a number of distinctive features into the world’s most luxurious Grand Tourer. Just 100 examples will be handbuilt by Mulliner in Crewe, England, based on the Continental GT this year.

Number 9 Edition by Mulliner pays homage to Sir Henry Ralph Stanley ‘Tim’ Birkin – one of the original, ‘Bentley Boys’ of the 1920s and ‘30s. Birkin was a Bentley customer, investor and a racing driver, full of entrepreneurial spirit and ambition – and through the determined collaboration of man and machine, the 4 ½ litre ‘Blower’ was born.

No.9 was the supercharged Bentley ‘Blower’ Sir Tim raced at the 1930 Le Mans 24 Hours. He commissioned the production of a series of 4 ½ Litre Bentleys, powered by a supercharger developed with independent engineer Amherst Villiers. Power increased from around 110 bhp to 175 bhp with the supercharger installation. The imposing green car has since become the iconic racing Bentley of the pre-war years.

The Number 9 Edition by Mulliner is distinguished by No.9 badgework and a bold, matching front grille graphic. Customers have the option of either Viridian green or Beluga black exterior paint, with 21”, 10-spoke wheels also in these colours, plus Black Line Specification and carbon bodykit.

Inside the Number 9 Edition by Mulliner customers have the choice of Cumbrian Green or Beluga heritage hides, with increased gloss levels to the seats, inner door panel and other areas. Debossed ‘B’ logos adorn the seat headrests and door panels as they did the door pads of the 1930 ‘Blower’.

A uniquely crafted dashboard features Engine Spin on the centre console. Often known as ‘Turned Aluminium’, Engine Spin was a popular racing car and aviation finish in the 1920s and ‘30s as it limited light reflection.

The centre console of the vehicle is enhanced by the inclusion of an exclusive British Jaeger clock face. Developed through a partnership between Mulliner and British Jaeger, the clock is inspired by the original No. 9 ‘Blower’s’ dials and uses the same traditional manufacturing methods of race car dials from the vintage era.

The Continental GT’s revolutionary Bentley Rotating Display has been further enhanced with a Bentley ‘Blower’ artefact. The Continental GT Number 9 Edition by Mulliner features a wood insert from the seat of Birkin’s iconic 1930 No. 9 Le Mans race car, which was removed during a sympathetic renovation. This backlit piece is set in resin and situated in the middle of the centre dial of the rotating display, adding a piece of history to each car.

Each of the 100 cars also features 18K gold plated organ stops inspired by those in the No.9 ‘Blower’ and ‘1 of 100’ treadplates.

Bentley’s Centenary Celebration

Bentley will celebrate its centenary year on 10 July , 2019. From the very first prototype created in a London mews to the phenomenally powerful and exquisitely crafted cars driven across the world today, Bentley has transformed the face of luxury motoring. W.O. Bentley founded Bentley Motors in order to ‘build a fast car, a good car, the best in its class’. That principle has remained at the heart of Bentley’s vision ever since.

Every Bentley built during 2019 will have a collection of carefully curated design touches on both the interior and exterior of the car. On the outside, the badges on the bonnet, boot and wheel centres will feature a specially created metallic finish around the ‘B’ in the logo in Centenary Gold. The bonnet and boot badges will also display the years 1919 to 2019.

On opening the door, a welcome light illuminates the ground with a Bentley symbol, while treadplates highlight the key years. Inside, the Bentley wings and Bentley ‘B’ on both the steering wheel and gear shifter are adorned with Centenary Gold, as is the ‘B’ on the key.

New Continental GT – A Powerful Statement of Intent

The latest, all-new Continental GT combines spirited, focused performance with handcrafted luxury and cutting edge technology.

Lighter, faster and even more refined, the W12 TSI-powered Continental GT will sprint to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds (100 km/h in 3.7 seconds), with a top speed of 207 mph (333 km/h) and a range of 500 miles. [WLTP drive cycle: fuel consumption, mpg (l/100km) - Combined 20.8 (13.6). Combined CO₂- 308g/km.]

Mulliner – Rare by Design

Mulliner exists to respond to the requirements of Bentley’s most discerning customers. Any type of personalisation can be undertaken to create a unique Bentley of individual taste.

Mulliner's roots date back to the 1500's – the firm's original focus was creating luxurious horse-drawn carriages. In 1923 Mulliner showcased work on a Bentley chassis for the first time, exhibiting a two-seater 3 Litre Bentley at the Olympia Show in London – just four years after Bentley Motors was founded.

In 1953, Mulliner coachbuilt one of the most iconic Bentleys ever – the R Type Continental. This model inspired the design of today's Continental GT. In 1957, Mulliner introduced the Continental Flying Spur, a special four-door saloon built on the Bentley Continental chassis. Mulliner officially became part of Bentley Motors in 1959, setting up its workshops in Crewe.

Love the green leather and machine-turned alu. Replace the black piano laquer with woodtrim a brown or reddish stain with actual wood graining, and that interior would be decadently heavenly.

I honestly don't think anybody cares about the perceived 'Brutishness' of the product other than the Brits themselves.

That is so damn beautiful! I can’t even stand it! Hands down the best looking 2

I wonder what the price is?

(Crewe, 18 March 2019) Bentley is introducing two new versions of its third generation Continental GT and GT Convertible models this year. The definitive luxury Grand Tourer is now available for US customer order with a powerful V8 petrol engine, ensuring a lively and engaging drive that complements the unparalleled levels of luxury and cutting-edge technology.

Both V8 models are equipped with a new-generation 4.0-litre, twin-turbocharged engine developing 542 bhp (550 PS) and 568 lb.ft (770 Nm) of torque. It combines immense power with greater range, plus a characterful V8 burble though the stylish quad exhaust pipes.

Designed, engineered and handcrafted in Crewe, Great Britain, the Continental GT V8 and GT V8 Convertible combine driver-focussed performance with exquisite refinement and cutting-edge technology. Both cars feature 20-inch, 10-spoke painted alloys wheels, subtle V8 badging and a sublime, handcrafted interior.

Bentley created the modern luxury Grand Tourer segment in 2003, with the launch of the first generation Continental GT and, sitting at the core of the ground-breaking Continental GT line-up, the new V8 models offer customers a unique breadth of Grand Touring abilities.

Customer deliveries will commence in the US in Q3, with availability for other regions to be scheduled from Q1 2020.

Thrilling Performance – Even Greater Efficiency

The new V8 versions of the ultimate Grand Tourer combine immense power with impressive fuel efficiency. Excellent weight distribution makes the dynamic V8 feel even more agile and responsive with a distinctive, higher revving engine personality of its own.

The new-generation 4.0-litre, 32-valve V8 petrol engine develops 542 bhp (550 PS) and 568 lb.ft (770 Nm) of torque. It also features dual twin-scroll turbochargers located inside the ‘V’ of the engine, together resulting in a top speed of 198 mph (318 km/h) and 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds (0-100 km/h in 4.0 seconds) for the Coupe; and 0-60 mph in 4.0 seconds (0-100 km/h in 4.1 seconds) for the Convertible.

Spirited performance from both eight-speed V8 models is complemented by refined efficiency, stemming partly from the ability of the engine to de-activate four of its eight cylinders in suitable conditions, without compromising the drive. The seamless change happens in just 20 milliseconds and is imperceptible to customers. Stop-Start technology, which operates at ‘near-to-stop’ speeds, is also available.

Muscular Exterior Design – A Statement of Intent

A statement of true luxury, the third generation Continental GT and GT Convertible represent the pinnacle of Bentley’s design and engineering achievements. Effortlessly elegant and more sculpted and sharply defined, the body and materials combine to create truly breath-taking cars.

The new V8 models feature 20-inch, 10-spoke painted alloy wheels and the option to choose from nine other designs measuring up to 22-inches. Bentley offers seven standard exterior bodywork colours, with an extensive palate of additional paint choices available. Both GT V8 and GT V8 Convertible are distinguished by quad exhaust pipes and subtle V8 badging to the front wings.

The GT V8 Convertible’s tailored roof can be deployed or stowed in just 19 seconds, with the car travelling at speeds of up to 30 mph (50 km/h). This transforms it from a luxurious coupe into an open-top Grand Tourer at the touch of a button. Seven different fabric hood colours are available, including an authentic tweed finish for the first time.

A newly designed neckwarmer (which is both warmer and quieter than in the previous generation model), is seamlessly integrated into the heated and vented Comfort Seats, optimising efficiency and airflow around the electrically adjustable headrests. The styling highlight of the new neckwarmer is a chrome centre vane that stretches the full width of the duct, echoing Bentley’s famous ‘bullseye’ vents. Combined with a heated steering wheel and new heated armrests, these sophisticated comfort features create a luxurious driving experience in all environments.

The V8 models also employ the latest LED Matrix technology, while the design of the headlamps is inspired by the finest cut-crystal glasses. The result is similar to that of an illuminated cut gem, an effect which is magnified when the optional welcome sequence gradually illuminates the headlights as you approach the car.

A Cabin of Handcrafted Luxury

The Continental GT V8’s innovative, luxurious interior offers unrivalled Grand Touring refinement. It seamlessly integrates natural materials such as the highest quality leathers and rare, sustainably sourced veneers into the finest handcrafted cabin.

Twenty-way adjustable leather seats set new industry standards in comfort and refinement, and are available in a monotone colour split on the GT V8 and GT V8 Convertible. Four further colour split options are available, together with Contrast Stitching, Piping and Hand Cross Stitch.

New Crown Cut Walnut adorns the V8 fascia and other areas, with the option of a variety of exquisite wood veneers. V8 models also feature a 10-speaker Bentley Audio system as standard pumping out a powerful 650 watts of entertainment.

At the heart of both the GT V8 and GT V8 Convertible dashboards are an advanced, fully digital, driver-focussed instrument panel and the optional Bentley Rotating Display. The latter features a 12.3-inch touchscreen housed in a three-sided unit, which revolves the veneer to reveal the touchscreen, as well as three elegant analogue dials.

Inside the new GT V8 Convertible, the ultimate Grand Tourer for all seasons, customers can choose from a range of eight roof lining colours.

Unrivalled Ride and Handling

The driving dynamics of the Continental GT V8 and GT V8 Convertible offer the driving character expected of a class leading Grand Tourer, along with the opportunity to explore the range of performance the car has to offer via the Bentley Drive Dynamics selector.

The different modes available offer the customer the full breadth of performance, from class-leading refinement and comfort to focussed handling in Sport mode.

The Continental GT V8 and GT V8 Convertible are both equipped with front and rear hollow, lightweight anti-roll bars for exceptional handling while the technically advanced, adaptive chassis created for Bentley’s intelligent Dynamic Ride System is also available as an option.

The Dynamic Ride System controls ride comfort and lateral roll, cushioning passengers from excessive movement, as well as making the Continental GT V8 models feel effortlessly precise.

The air suspension uses three-chamber air springs which further improve ride comfort and the dynamic character. It has the scope to vary from sporting spring stiffness to luxury limousine refinement, depending on which mode is selected.

An Active All-Wheel Drive System varies the front-to-rear torque split dependent on the driving situation. The Continental GT V8 will use rear-wheel drive as much as possible during normal driving for optimum efficiency and dynamic performance.

Electric Power-Assisted Steering provides excellent feedback to the driver. It utilises a variable rack ratio, allowing increased response with higher steering angles to aid manoeuvrability whilst maintaining excellent stability at high speeds. The V8 models are offered with a wide range of driver assistance features, such as Active Lane Assist, Traffic Jam Assist and Park Assist.

Continuous Damping Control optimises comfort and handling, by constantly adjusting the damper forces in response to road inputs, vehicle movement and driver demand. It does this by continuously measuring the velocity and distance between the wheels and the body at each corner and adjust to optimise comfort and handling.

Bentley’s Centenary – 100 Years of Extraordinary

In 1919 Walter Owen (W.O.) Bentley created a company with a simple objective: to build “a fast car, a good car, the best in its class”. This guiding principle has driven Bentley ever since, pushing the brand forward and making it the leader in automotive luxury around the world today.

The 10th of July 2019 marks Bentley’s 100th year. This extraordinary milestone – reached by only a special few companies – will be a cause for celebration of the company’s history and its global success today.
