M3/M4 [Official] 2021 BMW M3 and M4 [G80 & G82]

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M

I do not think I have read any comments about the horizontal bars inside the kidneys, basically the most radical change and it fits so well that it goes unnoticed, although it is basic in the general vision of the front and it looks better than any vertical interaction they would have put

Absolutely splendid picture of the M4!

For a moment I thought you were saying "radical change" as in they've changed the bars inside the kidneys for the xDrive...but it appears not, so I guess you mean change compared with previous models of the M3/M4 (F80/F82)?

That light blue color on the M4 looks new, otherwise I don't see any noticeable exterior differences

Santorini Blue has been around for a few years as an Individual colour. I assume it will be available as an Individual colour on these models, rather than as a regular no-cost option.

In terms of external differences, there doesn't even appear to be an "xDrive" badge, which I find surprising.

Weight and height comparisons between the RWD and 4WD:

M3 Comp RWD = 1,805kg (1,433mm)
M3 Comp 4WD = 1,855kg (1,434mm)

M4 Comp RWD = 1,800kg (1,393mm)
M4 Comp 4WD = 1,850kg (1,394mm)

So, 50kg weight increase for the xDrive, and just 1mm ride height increase.

The standard xDrive adds 65 kg, here they managed somehow to decrese it with 15 kg. It was said that the drive shafts are M specific but I doubt they can remove 15 kg only by lightening them.

Don't be worried by Johnny's face, @dalab. He loves the new M3.

I was referring even further, historically radical, I do not remember any BMW grille in general with horizontal bars, maybe some with cross bars like in the 507

Right, I had not seen it in this generation of the M4

vid showed what a great car the RCF is...

for most non pro drivers, the BMW's performance advantage will not be exploited, so it is somehow of no use.

where the BMW truly wins, is that with a tune and AWD AUTO it will be a drag-strip monster.

Most expensive version of the RCF vs least expensive/most basic G80. M3/M4 versions further up will likely not need a tune to be more than effective for the 'average' track user.

Why? M440i has no trouble putting the power to the ground thanks to all-wheel-drive.
I was surprised by the performance of the old m4 compare to the new m4 which seemed that it was trying hard to catch the old m4 in the races

While the new M4 is more powerful than before, it struggles to put the extra power onto the road for being rear wheel drive still. G82 M4 doesn't perform much better than the F82, because of the massive weight gain of 140 kilograms.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
