7 Series [Official] 2019 BMW 7 series LCI

The BMW 7 Series is a full-size luxury sedan manufactured and marketed by the German automaker BMW since 1977. It is the successor to the BMW E3 "New Six" sedan. The 7 Series is BMW's flagship car and is only available in a sedan bodystyle (including long wheelbase and limousine models). It traditionally introduces technologies and exterior design themes before other models in BMW's lineup.
As brilliant as the G05 is, it’s not perfect. Those who polish the turds, are quintessential fanboys. Let’s just be honest when required please. This instrument cluster is second only to the upcoming rat-face grille..

What an utter tool you are. Incredible.

So anyone who likes a BMW or Mercedes or Audi that you don't like are "those who polish the turds and quintessential fanboys".

So no one is allowed to have individualism and everyone must conform to your way of thinking.

Interesting.

I was referring specifically to the Live Cockpit. I love the G05 and most BMW's.. So please read the thread and don't jump on my back - it's one of fanboy @klier favourite thing to instigate. My point is that @klier will polish anything turdish that comes from BMW. Except for hood shutlines!!!!!!!!

I just think calling anything at the 3/C/A4 level or above, a turd is just wrong. No matter the brand. Mercedes, BMW and Audi rarely make an actual car that I'd call a turd. You may not like the design or whatever, but it isn't a POS or a turd IMO. The reason why we're all here is because we believe on some level of the superiority of GERMAN cars. Even the FWD MB and BMW and Audi models that pander on price aren't exactly turds. Not true to the brand, maybe, not true XYZ maybe, but a turd? No.

@braaf - since you disagree with my opinion on the UI design of the new Live Cockpit, please place some substance behind that click of the mouse. Why do you feel the UI of the Live Cockpit - which has also been universally panned by most motoring journos - is a good UI design? (.... waiting and watching you spin.. haha!).......

I don't agree or disagree with you. I have a problem with the fact that you not liking in this case live cockpit absolute law. Your hatred or dislike for live cock pit is your opinion and should stay that way.

That is why Klier jumps on your back.

For the record I'm not a fan of any digitilisation of analog dials. For me these systems are unneccessary. I love the old school needles.

I dont mind the screens that go with the needles but they should just give you basic info that you require with little customization.

Having said that I'm not naive nor do I live under a rock and I know technology plays an important role in society and in this case the automobile industry. This is just one of the ways technology makes driving easier for most people.

Then why did you "disagree" with this statement I made?

"Yip, BMW stuffed this one up. They ignored user interface principles for a “look” they thought was basically, “cool”. Thank god for a very good head-up display. Hopefully the LCI, or over-the-air update, will correct this instrument cluster BUNGLE."

And what is your learned opinion on the UI of Live Cockpit?

Jeez, this is like playing digital ping pong!

I agree - and I never called BMW or any brand a turd..

I was referring to Live Cockpit being a turd of a design. Which it is, according to those who review it and live with it. It is a step back. Another TURD will be the ridiculous rat face grille that appears to be all but certain to make it to production on the 4er.

I hate to say it but you are IMHO right here

This is just one of the ways technology makes driving easier for most people.

Except it doesn't make it easier in my X5. It makes it more difficult. It's really taken the shine off owning this car, having to live with the foibles of the new iDrive and LIVE cockpit. The X5 may look better than the GLE (and may drive better), but the UI and the instruments are things you cannot avoid day to day, so really they're more important, and I admit I've been watching videos and speccing up a GLE and wondering if I made the right choice. And I'm a BMW fan who loved the chance I had to buy an X5. I'm also thinking the obvious choice to replace my F30 3 Series with a G20 3 Series is not so obvious any more.

People talk about over-the-air updates and the LCI, but the updates are irrelevant until they happen, and the LCI doesn't help me.

Oh, and don't get me started on the inability of EITHER BMW I own to connect reliably to my iPhone. Completely random. There are few things more annoying when you're two minutes into a three hour journey and your phone that connected fine at first is now not connected to your car, just after you've joined the motorway, leaving you unable to play any music or take calls. Have I had that problem with any Mercedes or Audi in the last five years? Nope. Oh, and Apple CarPlay was free in my VW Polo, yet I get it free for only one year in the X5, and I don't even get a free trial in the 3 Series.

Oh my word.. If I could tell you the pain and trauma I have had keeping the connection with my iPhone and F15 stable. It disconnects all the time and has me doing the 7 step process to reconnect whilst driving, over and over again. I'm lucky I haven't had an accident. But my main issue with the latest UI is the fact that key information centres are irrationally placed, poorly designed and quite frankly not legible - apart from being a complete departure from traditional BMW speedo/tacho design etc. BMW - are you listening - if you are going to go all Knight Rider on us, please let us be able to read our speed without needing a head up display. Thank you..

Because your turd and fanboy comment implies that no one else opinion matters but yours.

And what is your learned opinion on the UI of Live Cockpit?

Jeez, this is like playing digital ping pong!

I don't have a learned about these systems because I don't like them. I prefer needles and a small screen in between them needles. ME NO LIKE FULL DIGITAL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WHICH INCLUDE BMW, MERCEDES, AUDI OR ANY OTHER MANUFACTURER SYSTEM.

However if you had to put a gun against my head I would say the Audi system is the best.

I don't like the one in a colleagues Q7, it was saved by the fact that mostly once I got used to the HUD I didn't look at the display.

What a cop-out of a response..

I think the same, maybe it will be that way for a while while novelty and fashion lasts, as happened with digital watches, in some years, maybe we will see the best combinations of both analog / digital worlds, at least I hope so.

Call me old fashioned but I just like the them analog dials. I actually don't mind HUD because for they display very little and only the important stuff.
