Q3 / RS Q3 [Official] 2019 Audi Q3

The Audi Q3 is a subcompact luxury crossover SUV made by Audi. The Q3 has a transverse-mounted front engine, and entered production in 2011.
This is the money shot. Silver does the surfacing justice. Colour me very interested.

It looks better than the Q8 lol. The GLA and X1 look terribly dated and boring now. It's a close call between the S-Line version and XC40 R-design.

It's a shame Volvo's Achilles heel is engines. The T3 is crap, T4 pricey and hybrids ridiculously priced. I hope they update their petrol engine soon as hybrid and electric drivetrains are still 5-10 year away from making economic sense for most buyers.

Ok, so looking at this car from all angles I have a serious question. WhO will buy the Q5?

This is almost as big, better looking, newer MMI, will turn more heads ( comparing to the Q5 which looks like a big facelift of the frist gen. Q5. The Q3 is more edgy and fresher) now, keep in mind there will be the Q6 and the electric suv. A lot of models within the same brand with similar size. So i'm wondering is the Q3 looking to be so good that it makes the Q5 obsolete? ( at least the current gen)

^^^^ Oh yeah they've got a winner. This thing is going set Audi on fire in the U.S. Wow it's a stunning little trucklet. The next GLA is already in trouble. Look at that interior. WOW.

Looks good inside out, much better than the previous generation.

But I do not like long front overhang, and the wheel arch crossing into the front door.

Mysterious New Audi Q3 Hits The European Patent Office

Could this be the SQ3?
Audi took the wraps off the all-new Q3 a little over a week ago, so why does this patent filing with the small crossover has a recent registration date? Indeed, according to the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), the filing date is July 10 and coincides with the registration date, and is to remain valid for the next five years.

A closer look at these rather dull patent images shows a slightly different design compared to the Q3 models depicted in the official gallery published at the end of July. For starters, the “air intakes” of the front bumper are bigger while the lower grille has been changed as well. Looking at recent spy shots of the SQ3 prototype, the front fascia designs appears to be a perfect match, which leads us to believe we are in fact looking at the warm version likely slated to arrive in 2019 as a 2020MY.
The side profile shows the Q3 riding on what could possibly be the company’s well-known rotor-styled alloy wheels and behind them, the front brakes (at least) seem to be a tad bigger. There’s nothing particularly interesting about the rear end, but having seen the latest SQ5 with fake exhaust tips, we’re not expecting anything better from its kid brother. Those prototypes we’ve mentioned of the SQ3 had quad exhaust tips as it is normal for an S-badged Audi, so hopefully, the sporty crossover will have those as well.

Whatever these patent images depict, there are slim chances we’re looking at the RS Q3 since the rear bumper does not have cutouts for Audi’s RS-specific pair of oval exhaust tips. In addition, we’re also expecting the range topper to adopt a more aggressive body since this version doesn’t look all that mean.

While we can’t pinpoint the model’s identity, the patent images are a sign Audi is working on a slightly more exciting derivative of its posh crossover.

Mysterious New Audi Q3 Hits The European Patent Office

2020 Audi RS Q3 With 2.5L Turbo Lets Loose at the Nurburgring
The fact that it wasn't based on the MQB platform never stopped the Audi Q3 from getting a 2.5-liter five-cylinder turbo. However, the switch might allow it to become the dominant force in the performance crossover market.
After being recently photographed at the well-known test track, the second-generation RS Q3 has now been captured on video, which allows us to sample the might of its 2.5 TFSI. It's looking almost ready for production, though the official debut won't happen until 2019.

They say that origin stories (like Batman's) are the most boring and that's why the second movies in a franchise are better. The RS Q3 could also be described as an over-powered hero car, and its second version will be better, considering the original came out with only 310 horsepower.

Speculation led some to suggest that a new version of this motor will eventually cross the 450 HP barrier. However, nobody could have foreseen the impact the new WLTP emissions tests would have. The RS3 has been temporarily pulled out of the range while the TT RS might be delayed.

So if the RS Q3 comes out with 400 HP, we'll be happy campers. But if they give us 390 or something along those lines, it's still okay. Of course, there's also the off chance that they'll use a 12V mild hybrid configuration to lower emissions.

The crossover segment really doesn't have amazing technologies as you see on big SUVs. There's no air suspension or smart anti-roll bars. But that also means the RS Q3 will be pretty light at about 1.6 tons.

Audi Sport doesn't mess around when it makes RS cars, so the performance Q3 will have the strongest DSG gearbox and AWD system they have. It should launch like a rocket, giving even electric models something to worry about.

Of course, it will also be quite expensive. We predict a starting price of around €50,000, about the same as the Mk1 Cayenne.

The Q5 will be just fine. In the U.S. at least, this class of vehicle is just too small for those with kids. Once the large strollers and other items need to come along this class of vehicle gets too tight very quickly.

While I agree with you from a US perspective, I wouldn’t say the choice between a Q3 or Q5 is entirely black and white from s practicality point of view. Interior packaging in smaller SUVs is very impressive today. Unless you have the largest pram/stroller on the market, the difference in interior room between an X3/Q5 and X1/Q3 is much smaller than 7 years ago.

If 50L less boot room is hard to overlook, a roof box can almost double your capacity. For those with three kids, both the Q3 and Q5 are s joke compared with an Odessy, Discovery, Q7 or other purposeful haulers.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
