Official Thread [Official] 2014 - Peugeot 308

^ The interior yes, but the exterior is fairly clean for a Peugeot imo

Apparently there was a new CEO a couple of years ago that claimed the pre-LCI 308 mkI was nothing but a disaster in terms of design, and wanted to return to the previous classy designs from this brand, with a more traditional grille, without the stupid nose of the first 308, smaller mouth on the air intake, and a bit nicer (which was not a dificult task).

Pre and post LCI, the previous 308 was bad either way. The 306 on the other hand was a normal design you could hardly dislike.
They're not there yet, but Peugeot is moving in the right direction imo. Good for them!

I can agree that they found the right direction design-wise, but I believe they lost their traditional driver involvement. The 208 is kind of dull to drive, with its ESP system being triggered VERY easily, thus not allowing the driver to have some fun. You can't switch the ESP off in the 208!

I know, the driving part isn't all that hot. I've been watching a few 208 GTI reviews and it's a far cry from the original, the 205 GTI (and even 106 XSI/306 XSI). Exactly like you say, a bit dull and with annoying ESP. A shame because it has an excellent drivetrain and 200 hp!

A bit bland exterior, reminds of the 306 somehow. Weird they stick with the 308 nomencature.

So this will compete with the A-Class as far as I can see :)
Can't touch the A3 and the 1-Series tho... maybe their premium program still doesn't get the go.

2014 Peugeot 308 SW announced with 610-liter cargo capacity

Debuts in Geneva
Peugeot has taken the wraps off the 308 SW which will be publicly showcased at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show in March.

The French marque says its new 308 SW has a "class-leading" capacity which is not entirely true since the Honda Civic Toureroffers 624 liters (22 cubic feet) of cargo area, 14 liters more than the 308 SW and theSkoda Octavia Combi. Nevertheless, the number is still very impressive and is the result of extending the car's length from 4253mm to 4580mm which has increased boot capacity by 140 liters compared to the hatchback.

Engine lineup will be carried over from the five-door hatchback, including the BlueHDi variant which will have CO2 emissions of only 85 g/km. The vehicle rides on the same EMP2 architecture and is 140 kg (308 lbs) lighter than its predecessor.

The 2014 Peugeot 308 SW will be showcased at the Geneva Motor Show in March and will reach European dealerships this spring.

Not yet, I'll do so when I get the chance. Should be a winner if it is 508 quality! I'm starting to slightly like the interior, it looks good in those commercials on tv!

I didn't find it bad to be honest. I liked the general quality, better than VW IMO and much, much better than Ford and the koreans.

Thanks Klier. I love the 508 interior by the way.

^ Because small Peugeot hatches used to handle great without any electronics coming between you and the car. There is no fun to be had with the ESP on in these cars right now.

Just design a car that handles neutral and good without any electronics next time Peugeot. The ESP should have an off button. At least in the hot hatch versions like the GTI.

Why would you do that, it's not M3?

Because you will be surprised with how much fun you can have with such a small hatch. Older Peugeot hatchbacks used to award you a massive smile with their characteristic lift-off oversteer, even at moderate speeds. The 206 was massive fun, yet the 207 was much more politically correct. The 208 is nowhere near half as much fun to drive as its predecessors.

Also, given the low weight, it's also very easy to have fun with the handbrake. But ESP kills the joy.

My daily driver is an old Renault Clio and when it rains, I can't resist to take the last few corners from my home with the handbrake. ;)

Peugeot

Peugeot is a French brand of automobiles owned by Stellantis. Founded in 1810, Peugeot is regarded as the oldest car company in the world. On 20 November 1858, Émile Peugeot applied for the lion trademark. Armand Peugeot (1849-1915) built the company's first car steam tricycle. They joined forces with Léon Serpollet in 1886; this was followed in 1890 by an internal combustion car with a Panhard-Daimler engine.
