New Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio Verde Adopts 4C's 240PS and Twin-Clutch Transmission

The curtains came up Thursday on the refreshed Alfa Romeo Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde (QV) with a newer powertrain inherited from the Italian carmaker's 4C mid-engine sports car.
This lighter 1.75-liter turbocharged and direct-injection petrol unit that implements an aluminum block and specific intake and exhaust systems, slightly nudges up power from 235PS (232hp) at 5,500 rpm to 240PS (237hp) at 6,000 rpm, with peak torque standing the same at and 340Nm (250 lb·ft).

Channeling power to the front wheels is the 4C's latest TCT six-speed semi-automatic twin-clutch gearbox, with no manual option on offer.

Alfa quotes a top speed in excess of 240km/h (149mph) and a zero to 100km/h (62mph) acceleration time of 6.6 seconds, or 0.2 seconds less than the previous Giulietta QV with a manual gearbox. By comparison, the rivaling VW Golf GTI in standard 220PS (217hp) trim completes the sprint in 6.5 seconds and tops out at 245km/h (152 mph).

Some minor exterior tweaks include the larger exhaust tail pipes and different 17- or 18-inch alloy rims through which we see the braking system 'by Brembo' with 4-piston fixed red brake calipers and 320mm discs. There's also a glossy 'anthracite' finish for the mirror caps, front grille, door handles and fog light frames.

On the inside, the QV gains a revised instrument panel, a new leather and Alcantara trim sports seats, a redesigned steering wheel with white stitching, and leather gearbox boot and parking brake lever with white and green stitching.

Alfa said that, on the occasion of the Giulietta nameplate's 60th anniversary, it will release a special "Launch Edition" of the performance model of which only 500 cars will be made featuring specific components. These include carbon fiber spoilers and mirror caps, front and rear sports DAMs, side skirts and 18-inch five-spoke wheels. The limited run model will be offered in three colors named Alfa Red, Competizione Red (triple coat) and the exclusive matt Magnesio Grey.
