Yes, but the limiter is at 6900 rpm.

First performance comparison of the tuned versions by Sportscars. :) Oettinger is the only one with manual gearbox.

Thanks Dede very interesting comparison as they all have same power and almost same torque but different performance figures!!

I noticed they have the same power/torque as the Merc A45 AMG, do you have the acceleration figures as well as lap time at Sachsenring for the A45 AMG by ABSC? That would make a good comparison!!

Yes.
0-100 kph in 4,4 s, 0-200 kph in 17,0 s. Sachsenring on street tyres in 1:40,79 min.

Mmm interesting!!

The A45 AMG is slower than all of them from 0-200km/h!!!

If this car had a front bumper that didn't look 10 years old it could be a master piece. The other day I was behind one and it looked fantastic from the back. But the front bumper and the grille look entirely anonymus.

I disagree, SKY. The great thing about Golf R is that always looks classy and assertive at the same time - never ricey. It's a quintessential approach within the Golf recipe. There's nothing boy racer about the Golf R yet at the same time you know it's the business.

Hockenheimring: 1:16,0 min
Nordschleife: 8.15 min
0-100 km/h: 5,4 s
0-200 km/h: 20,0 s
110 m evasive test: 145 km/h
Acceleration figures are slower than the other tests at least 0.4sec to 100km/h and maybe 0.5sec to 200km/h.
Nordschleife time pretty quick maybe just as fast as an E46 M3!

With 2 persons onboard these are the pretty much the fastest times. Only AutoBild Sportscars and AutoZeitung were quicker, both with 1 person. :)

Lovely car, so understated but sporty at the same time. Performance Golfs have always been a force to be reckoned with and without a doubt amongst the best hot hatches ever made.

Volkswagen Golf GTD R under consideration?

Could have 240 PS (176 kW) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque
Volkswagen's head of powertrain development, Dr Heinz-Jakob Neusser, recently confirmed the company is considering additional R variants and one of them could be an all-new Golf GTD R.

In an interview with Motoring, Volkswagen's Hanno Jelden said the Passat's new 2.0-liter TDI biturbo engine can be installed in the Golf. However, he noted "the issue is that is it the heaviest engine currently used in the [MBQ] platform."

As a refresher, the engine produces 240 PS (176 kW) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque. It is connected to a seven-speed DSG transmission and an all-wheel drive system which enables the Passat to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 6.1 seconds before hitting a top speed of 240 km/h (149 mph).

Nice to have so many choices but if I were to buy myself a hatch with so much power, I'd like it not to burn taxi fuel. Gasoline FTW!

:D

The Scoob without thinking twice.

It's a car that's got character. It's old school, more raw, less refined, more interesting. It's far from perfect. But it's involving and a blast to drive.

The Golf is very close to perfection. Stunning attention to detail (given its segment), very refined, excellent engine, un-exciting handling, a very fast hatchback, not a hot one.

I know that if I were to drive a 2014 Impreza, many things in its interior would drive me mad. But the drive would reward me for everything.

At some point in my life I hope to own one.

Volkswagen Golf R Variant spied in production trim at the Nurburgring
Debuts in December at Essen Motor Show
A prototype of the Volkswagen Golf R Variant has been spotted undergoing last minute testing around the Nürburgring.

Our sources have confirmed Volkswagen has green-lighted the Golf R Variant for production and the hot wagon will make its official debut in December at the Essen Motor Show. Just like the hatchback, the more practical Variant adopts an aggressive body matched with a stiffer suspension, enlarged brakes and beefier wheels.

Borrowed from the Golf R is the four-cylinder 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine generating 300 HP (221 kW) and a maximum torque of 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) channeled to a 4MOTION all-wheel drive system through a standard six-speed manual or optional six-speed DSG. The Golf R hatch needs 4.9 seconds to reach 62 mph (100 km/h) when equipped with the DSG and 5.1 seconds with the manual but the wagon will be a few ticks of a second slower because it's a bit heavier.

We remind you the Volkswagen Golf R hatchback costs €38,325 in Germany so expect the wagon to be a tad more expensive.

Love the Golf R wagon, damn shame it would be stupid expensive in Norway.

After your post I looked at the Norwegian Volkswagen homepage. Converted 77.000 EUR?
Wow. That is a word. That's the twice as much of the price in Germany.
