5 Series (F10/F11/F07/F18) [Official] 2014 BMW F07 5 Series Gran Tourismo

The BMW F10/F11/F07/F18 is the sixth generation of the BMW 5 Series, manufactured for model years 2010–2017. The body styles of the range are: 4-door sedan/saloon (F10), 5-door estate/wagon (F11, marketed as "Touring"), 5-door fastback (F07, marketed as "Gran Turismo"), and 4-door long wheelbase sedan (F18, sold only in China and the Middle East).
I don't know why, I thought this car was an abomination. But it's growing on me, like the A7. My dogs can fit in the back and it will ride a hell of a lot better than the range rover. It also has a little ride height.

If you go by the reviews, the GT's ride is anything but plush. Conversely I've seen numerous that describe the ride of the range rover as 'lush'.

Believe it or not, the Range Rover Sport doesn't have a very cushy ride. The air suspension works well offroad, when the car absorbs all the hunky bumps, but on dodgy tarred roads, it's a lot firmer than you think. I can confirm this as I own one. The Cayenne feels more resistant to "vibrational" inconsistencies on tarred road, if you can understand what I'm trying to describe...

I have done some long distance with and in the passenger seat of our Operations Managers 2010 RR-Sport. I 100% agree and get what you say (I can't talk with neither describe off road ride in the same car though) but on normal town tarred roads, highways and byways it's firmer than one would expect. I can add this, on municipal town roads (normally not good) short bumps and shallow potholes sends jolts through the cabin AND so does the new Grand Cherokee's air suspension.

One thing I have learn t in general and I would not believed it if I haven't experienced it nor do I ignore tech terms i.e. Bump and Rebound SETUP. Air Suspension deals badly with town roads vs Steel springs. And remember I do drive BMW's with ROF's.

Btw. X5 E70 with rear Air springs rides worse over short bumps than a X5 E70 (without the self leveling suspension) and normal steel springs;)

Why do we think THE BEST and most innovative suspension strut in the world form DAIMLER AG has steel springs!?

It took a sh!t load of time and money (R&D) to develop this: ABC Struts

Ah man! Still one of my favourites. Now better than ever and IRL these cars has HUGE presence.
Talking about niche ideas, here's one:

If BMW can bring to life a BMW X5/X6M (rouhgly based on the F10 platform) so includes the M5 and obviously the 5 GT.

Ja, you've guessed right! How about a M5GT!? No extra expenses from BMW Group, it's all there in the ///M GmbH parts bin!

Bright ideas are born, late at night in South-Africa;):D

Thank you. Thus no CS but a FWD 2 Series. You are the customer BMW is interested in. How unfortunate.

I can't just buy what I like anymore, like most and even living in SA not EU, inflation is getting the better of me honestly.

Also if I was a dad with two children I would have been the first owner of a 5 GT in my town etc...

If you were a dad with 2 children you would have a lot less money to spend on cars... and you would have two little people telling you what type of car you're "allowed" to drive them in. My kids would be happy with the spacious 5GT interior but wouldn't be seen dead in a car that had that exterior. It's not as simple as you think;)

Like I said, we have Admin that includes the staff (Moderators). Then we have Contributing members. Intbetween there are a fanatics, fan boy's, Sensible and Crazy members also a few non-participating folk. And at the other end of the scale we have the Levi68 section, currently as far as my knowledge goes it has but only one member...guess who?

Gotta love you man! You are famous!(y)

I have to say I love the new rear end of this car. In fact I even prefer the way this car looks than the 5er. It's a pitty it is a hatchback, if it was a sedan I think it would be a nicer 5er than the one we have.

I'm going to go right ahead and admit that I now really like the LCI GT! What a difference that change made!

BMW shows 670-hp plug-in 5-series GT concept

Think the upcoming Model X crossover from Tesla sounds good? BMW has something that might be just as enticing for eco enthusiasts who like their cars to be green and mean.

BMW quietly revealed a 5 Series GT concept earlier this week at an event in France, and it sports a plug-in hybrid powertrain capable of a whopping 670 horsepower. That's right, a hybrid BMW hatch-crossover with more estimated power than the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06.

BMW's setup is called "Power eDrive," and it uses a 20-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack that provides juice for two electric motors; they work with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. This 5 Series GT would be able to travel for 62 miles under electric power.

The prototype shows the high-performance potential of the system, but the 5 Series GT is "purely a concept," BMW spokesman Julian Arguelles told Autoblog.

The GT made its global debut alongside plug-in versions of the 3 Series and X5. They used more basic eDrive systems with one electric motor teamed with a turbo four cylinder.

BMW revealed the prototypes to illustrate its plans to increase production of plug-in hybrids. Its goal is to add plug-in variants to all of its "core-brand models," though specifics and timing are unclear
