Official: 2012 C63 AMG Coupe

I don't think I can wait that long, and more importantly I want the naturally aspirated V8 of the current M3 (if were to go the BMW route). The next M3 is going to be some turbo I6 or even (gasp!) V6 model according to some. I think the current M3 is a masterpiece, and the last of its kind from BMW. The RS5 and the C63 models will be the only game in town with similar engines after the M3 exits the stage. I just wish the RS5 was here now and not a year from now. Audi moves so damn slow! I will look at wide range of cars when the time comes: CLS, 5-Series, M3, C63 Coupe, S5 even the Jaguar XFR. Something to be done before the end of the year is the plan.

FWIW I was looking at an M3 next to a new 6'er Vert last week, and I gotta say, the M3 looked nicer to me. This isn't a fair comparison, as the M3 was a popping White, and a Coupe, whilst the 6 was a "hide-the-design" black, with a Vert, but something about the crisp and lean look of the M3 kept my eyes swaying toward it.

I don't mind owning a nice car when it's an old body-style, but I agree in that it's no fun to JUST buy a car, and have it immediately replaced. It bugged me like crazy when I got my W211 so shortly before the W212 launched. I like to grow with a model and experience it when it's new as well.

If I was shopping for an M3, I'd only get into it if I could work a crazy discount, as that's par for the course when any car is about to be replaced.

I saw a regular C-Coupe in Paris last week (fully loaded, AMG kit, pearly white paint).

Not very nice, side profile/greenhouse looks terribly cheap and like a cross from some old Pontiac/Chevy and the new Accord. I mean, maybe I'm being harsh, as from some other manufacturer it would look okay, but from M-B, it doesn't look right. Lots of weird empty space over the rear wheels, which prove that it's based off of a proportioned body that is meant to look good and appropriate with a Sedan greenhouse and 4-doors on it.

Good news!

But only for me... :D
Next weekend i will be lucky to drive the C63 Coupe. My local MB dealer got a demonstration model and i can have it from 12 to 14 August!
I don´t now colour or equipment, but that does not bother me ;)
If the weather is good, i will take some pictures, if i´m in a very good mood, i will place my ... alongside. Psst, enough for now!

BTW: YES YES YES!

Take pics either way, with bad weather too!

Looking forward to reading your impressions...

GTA: your posts make me laugh out loud. Keep it up.

Here we are!

Ok, first, lets have a look at the beauty! You will recognize the amazingly awesome styled hood. It just looks great, like a knights armour with its dents and edges. Incredible look from insight!

Hoooooood!

The breaks, a little disappointing, i expected them to do better with "only" 1730 kilos.

The interior is very good, look and feel is simply Merc.

And finally a little comparison with my CL63, smallest vs biggest merc Coupe.

LOL Jabba, you really like Mercedes. One CL63 and one SLS and now a C63. Ever heard of BMW or Audi?:D

Regarding driving experience. Is it anything close to SLS?

IMO the black color looks WAY better than the shots of it in red and white. Very impressive!

Wow......nice, but I have to say next to the CL something is lacking in the C.

I think so too... C63 is hot but a C-Class can never match the prestige of the CL. Well that's what you get for 90K more. :D

Awesome. I was scared in the first pic, the C63 was actually looking better to me than the CL (I think it's because the color was emanating sharper, and the better angle), but in the second pic, the CL shows why it's so much more expensive, thankfully ;).

I like the C coupe, but like someone mentioned above, next to the CL, there is something lacking. The car is not ugly by any means, just looks bland considering the design is simply lifted off the current C class sedan, which we have been used to for several years now. Also, the car, around the C pillar (between the door and the c pillar), exhibits something similar, IMO, to the Cadillac CTS. It is a huge surface area with not much going on.

Hi!
First: I did not buy it, i just was able to drive last weekend. ;)
Unfortunateley i did only something about 150 Kms, 30 on the autobahn with pouring rain, the rest on nice curvy streets, mostly dry conditions.

First impression of course the outer appearance:
:D
I could not manage to get the big grin of my face! The nicely styled hood, wich reminds me of an ancient knight´s armour, the fenders and the small rear spoiler fit very good togehter. It´s also a colour thing, i like black, the car is just like i would configure the style.
Open the door, a little surprise:
It´s not a real coupe, the window is not frameless (i hope you understand me), that means, though you have only one big door, you can not open the side windows to have one fameless window from front to back.
Next, the rear headrests can not turned down, they are fixed. OK, who cares? But it would be better for the all around visibility.
The seat fits me very good, enough space (184cm), very comfortable. The dashoboard is neatly arranged, i like the speedo very much with its coloured screen inside. Maybee a little overkill, too much information with the standard view. But i´m sure, you will get used to it.
Starting, vrooom: Louder than the CL, but less noisy than the SLS. The SLS has a hoarse, far more aggressive sound, the C sounds rumbling like you expect a V8 to do. The CL also has a nice sound, but more discreet, inside its very quiet.
Ok, transmisson on "C" and go. Very smooth, without any remarkable loss of power up to 7k+ rpms, whoopee! Ups, 160, 180 ok Jabba, calm down, 100 allowed. After a while i´m getting jused to it and there are some surprising first impression results (pls remeber, i drove only 150+ kms!)

The acceleration is not as good as the SLSs,but thats no wonder, the C is heavier and has less power. But it also does not feel faster than the CL, wich is a surprise for me, couse of the very big weight advantage. So the brakes: Good, but i was a little stressed sometimes and have to step a little bit harder on the breaks..
Putting transmission to S, next surprise: The shifting became so aggressive, that i turned back to C... (Driving the SLS, i never use C, mostly S or S+). OK, that will need more than some kms to get common.
Driving around, cruising is very nice. I think its very comfortable, nearly as good as the CL. That is good on one hand, but shows one thing, i really miss: a driver adjustable suspension! Especially the CL lacks this.
The fuel consumption is considering the small tank capacity of only 66L a little problem: Pushing hard, 20+ is easy to reach, that means less than 300 Kms range!

Ok, thats all i remember to be remarkable.
Here is a pic of the dashboard:

Finally, one more: The C with the performance package is limited to 280!
The car i had was something about 74k Euro + tax, much extras. Considering what you get, this is a real challenge. But mainly for the E coupe, the E 500 Coupe has nearly the same base price and is not really bigger (in fact i think the C Coupe will steel a lot from the E Coupe)

So far so good, if you have some special questions, i will do my best to answer.
