Right now, I think AMG pack looks more like a SUV than the real AMG.

This is one of the few time I have to agree with you.
I looked at the pictures and examined it from a design POV. There is simply not enough developement here. It`s not aggressive enough and lacks detail in quit a few places where it needs to stand out as an AMG Mercedes. The previous version ML63 might have not been best looking SUV but the aggressive developement was underpinned quit well. It stood out and you noticed it.

Looks like most of the "design money" went into the interior of the new ML63. This is where it really stands tall.

I saw this car yesterday. It's nice, and I don't get the necessity for it to look too fussy/crazy because it's an AMG. It's actually the cleanest and most cohesive ML in the lineup, and the large airdam is a bit much, but that's the AMG giveaway in this case. It actually looks a lot cleaner and more athletic/sporty than the standard "AMG Pack", which looks quite truck like and utilitarian, tough, in comparison with the chrome bits and how it's all busily designed.

TopCar Mercedes-Benz ML63 AMG Preview

TopCar is working to give the new 2012 Mercedes ML63 AMG a little bit of Russian flavor, with the tuner previewing an exterior modification package for the SUV.

We are talking about a wide body kit that includes a new front fascia with massive air intakes and LED daytime running lights, beefier fenders, side skirts, special panels for the doors, as well as a redesigned rear fascia. In addition to that, the roof rails were removed for a cleaner look.

As you can see in the adjacent renderings, the vehicle will get an aggressive appearance, as well as a set of ADV.1 wheels (this is the tuner’s wheel partner). TopCar will built the kit using carbon fiber, which will also bring a psychological advantage, if not an engineering one for the owners.

There's something not quite right about this design. The back is the worst of the design and the front is just tame and boring. I also like the old ML 63 AMG, it was sporty and more like an AMG SUV than this.

Lol, I am sure it serves aerodynamic purposes. I like the way the new ML looks but it was kind of less then I expected.

Obviously mature and classier isnt always the best solution since I prefer previous ML63.

I really don't think anyone will miss the old ML after some time. It's a weak design, weak quality, just not a Classic in the making. This one might not be anything to write home about, but it's an *ML*, which by nature isn't anything to write home about. I'm sure this one will go down as the best M-B SUV to date, as it's a simple design, not much to hate, and the quality is top notch, i.e it's a real Mercedes feeling Truck.
