Motortrend gets it's hands on one for a review:

MotorTrend said:
It takes just one clockwise turn of the 2012 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe's weighty black and chrome fob. With that sole click, the C63's hand-built, all-aluminum 6.2-liter V-8 welcomes its commander in one of the most evocative ways possible: by barking raucously.
The bark conveys a lot. It serves as a muscular hello, demanding that I respect the C63's tremendous capabilities. The instantaneous WHOMP! WHOMP! as the Coupe roars through the gears also means my relationship with the asphalt-laden world will be fraught with naughty tendencies. I'm talking Chuck Sheen naughty.
" It takes only a few hundred feet to understand that the C63 AMG isn't just a horn-mad pit bull "

But it takes only a few hundred feet to understand that the C63 AMG isn't just a horn-mad pit bull. Based on the brand's sharp-looking 2012 C-Class Coupe, it's really a puppy at heart. Offering rides with a distinct dual personality is how Mercedes' go-fast division likes to do it, so getting from Point A to B can be as awesome or scary as you'd like in the 63. And when the going gets slow, commutes aren't nearly as frustrating when you're strapped into its bolstered Recaros.

The degree of stress relief -- or adrenaline rush -- all depends on what modes the 2012 C63 AMG's seven-speed MCT transmission (Controlled, Sport, Sport Plus, and Manual) and Electronic Stability Program (ESP On, ESP Sport, ESP Off) are set to. In any mode, at any time, the shifts are smooth and unimaginably quick. Jenson Button impersonators can skip straight to the 100-millisecond-per-shift Manual mode with the most lenient ESP Off indicated on the digital console. With 481 horsepower and 443 of twist below the right foot, it's best you'd train like said Englishman before unbridling the 63.
Over uneven L.A. pavement, the C63's athletically inclined three-link front suspension and wider axle matched to a stiffer sprung and dampened multilink rear setup returned a bumpy, yet responsive ride. Put against the harder current-generation 2011 BMW M3 Competition Package, the Merc's ride is a tinge more civilized, enough that your co-pilot won't complain on an extended road trip. Front and rear track widths grow in the name of grip by an enormous 4.3 and 3.2 inches respectively, but on city streets, this hardly made a difference aside from giving it a lower, more seductive stance that caught a number of discerning stares.

AMG's styling squad is obsessed with subtle details. Three badges -- two pasted on both front fenders, and one opposite of the alphanumeric designation on the trunk -- are the only blatant "I'm special" signs posted on the 63. Other hints are its bulging hood, Autobot-like nose, chiseled side sills, and a sculpted rear diffuser. It's also hard to miss the six-piston 14.2-inch front brakes, quad exhaust, and brilliant LED DRLs. Look even closer and you'll spot the unique grille, darkened headlight housings, and a miniscule carbon-fiber rear spoiler. The C63 continues AMG's clean, simple, and to-the-point design mantra so well that it easily gets overlooked as something more sedate.

Our $81,715 tester's all-black MB-Tex and Dinamica cabin (a leather- and suede-like combo) wore the optional $2590 carbon-fiber trim that gives everything a classier, athletic feeling compared to the garden-variety Coupe. Like the triple-fin diffuser, the flat top and bottom Dinamica-wrapped steering wheel is pure DTM; hands love this helm, especially when hustling through the esses. Another pricey option, AMG's $6050 Development Package, raises top speed to 174 mph from the usual 155 mph limit, colors the calipers lipstick red, and ups horsepower by 30 courtesy of SLS-derived forged pistons, connecting rods, and crankshaft.

Pushing the Coupe on our figure eight proved supremely fun. So fun, in fact, that MT test team hot shoes Carlos Lago and Kim Reynolds tormented the track multiple times just to experience the 63's extraordinary stick and responsiveness. (Side note to potential owners: You'd better think about investing in a Brazilian rubber company, stat.) Its best time of 24.9 seconds at 0.78 g average is something to be proud of, but a cheaper, less potent 2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca edges the Merc out by a few fractions (24.6 seconds at 0.81 g average). With a 0-60 mph time of 3.7 seconds, the torquey C63 slaps a twin-clutch BMW M3 in the face (4.2 seconds) and then laughs out loud to the finish line. It bested both to a stop from 60 mph with a distance of only 105 feet.

As expected, the 3800-pound C63 Coupe dances as skillfully on mountain roads as it did at our test facility. The firmer suspension, matched to a palatable helm and grippy rubber, produces highly controllable corner transitions with little slip or slide, specifically in ESP Sport mode. Its heft and an almost too-generous low-end torque doling, however, would put it at a disadvantage against such ballerinas as the Boss or M3.

Like the rest of the crew, associate road test editor Lago didn't find much to dislike about the AMG, but did mention he wasn't fond of how easily it switched into tail-wagging oversteer. Indeed, going easy on the fun pedal allows the car's full performance potential to be tapped. Summon all of the C63's 443 lb-ft too early while exiting a corner and you'll be doing your favorite Formula Drift impressions before you realize it. And although sticky, the available 18-inch Continentals were relatively small (235/40R-18 front, 255/35R-18 rear) and could be wider to improve lateral gluing. Then again, that's what the Black Series is for.
With the C63 AMG Coupe, Mercedes-Benz has dealt a potent, V-8-packed punch to its M, V, Quattro, and F archrivals, months ahead of any next-generation competition. It has also set a high bar. Now if they could only all sound this good...

Instrumented Test by Car & Driver

November 2011
BY JARED GALL

Many cars have challenged the perpetually great BMW M3 over the years, with the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG sedan—introduced in 2008—among those that have come closest to knocking off the M3’s crown. With the C-class coupe debuting this year, AMG’s newest product was a bit of a no-brainer. Still, we don’t see the C63 AMG coupe so much as a two-door version of a sedan but rather as the M3’s most formidable and natural competitor yet.

Both M3 and C63 are based on a famous German luxury brand’s cheaper U.S. offering. Both demand an ante about 50 percent higher than that of their entry-level siblings. Both are available as sedans and (now) coupes. (In Germany, the lucky Hunde can even buy a C63 station wagon.) Both offer seven-speed automated transmissions (the C63’s is standard). Both have more than 400 hp—but only one has way more.

Hello, My Name Is Torque

The C63 AMG’s 451 hp surpasses the M3’s output by 37 ponies. If, however, that isn’t enough, AMG offers the Development package, which swaps the regular C63’s pistons, connecting rods, and crankshaft for the same pieces used in AMG’s gullwing SLS flagship. These plus a reprogramming of the engine-management system net 481 hp, 67 more than the M3’s. AMG’s bruiser also crushes the M3 in torque output, its 443 lb-ft—with or without the Development pack—representing an advantage of 148 lb-ft.

Not surprisingly, then, this gnarly Mercedes coupe will quickly become a dot in the distance to the M3 driver—and to drivers of most everything this side of supercar territory, really—which is more impressive when you consider the AMG’s 400-plus-pound weight disadvantage. The C63 takes 3.7 seconds to rip to 60 mph, 8.6 to hit 100. People whose driveways are a quarter-mile long will need 12.1 seconds to get to the mailbox, and we’d be very interested to see the solution for collecting the mail at 120 mph. And check out the 30-to-50- and 50-to-70-mph passing times of 2.5 and 2.7 seconds.

All the C63’s straight-line miracles are accompanied by some of our favorite vocals in the industry, a voice like velvet woven from razor wire. (Click here to hear our recording of the C63 sedan.) As proof of how little Mercedes refinement survived AMG boot camp, consider this: At 83 decibels under full throttle, the C63 is only 2 dBA quieter inside than a Dodge Viper coupe.

Although we always prefer a manual, the C63’s seven-speed swaps gears in as few as 100 milliseconds. The pull to ever-higher speeds is relentless, and the “screw you” effortlessness with which the C63 driver can relegate challengers to mirror blips is simply amazing. We were torn by our desire to conduct the engine manually using the steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters and the reality that the transmission doesn’t always get the full message regarding multigear downshift requests.

Here and There and Everywhere, Right Now

Like the C63 sedan, the coupe has a remarkably solid structure and a stiff ride that lands barely on the right side of abusive. The updates made to the 2012 C63 sedan guided Mercedes’ hand on the coupe as well, with more negative camber at every corner and revised springs, shocks, and bushings. The car’s exemplary “hit it and forget it” body control faithfully reads and transmits every divot and lump in the road but dwells on none of them. The C63 coupe corners more neutrally than last year’s sedan but is still riotously easy to slide, and abrupt inputs at the limit can easily turn cornering into drifting. Hold it together, though, and it sticks for 0.91 g. Although that figure isn’t as high as some of the numbers we’ve recorded from the benchmark M3, the C63’s utter lack of body roll means the Benz changes direction with seemingly supernatural immediacy. We like the quickness of the steering for informal back-road blasts but found it a touch too light and twitchy when chasing lap records.

As a whole, the C63 AMG coupe is a shocking, intimidating, and tremendously rewarding car. Is it better than the BMW M3? You don’t expect us to answer that question without a head-to-head, do you? We’ll get back to you.

2012 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe - Instrumented Test - Car Reviews - Car and Driver

I have only seen the C63 Coupe once and it was red. Easily one of the hottest coupes on the market. It's on level with the CLK Black Series.

Yikes....thats a delicious spec sheet. Your car?

Like the C63 sedan, the coupe has a remarkably solid structure and a stiff ride that lands barely on the right side of abusive.

That part is true, the ride is firm and feel everything. This would make a great weekend/play car, but everyday it would be challenge in the Dallas area with the grainy, humpy roads we have here. Sure would be a great car for the weekend though. Some adaptive damping is in order here.

No doubt that the Black Series version is going to be a track only car.

Soon to be, hopefully! Roads here in MD are pretty smooth. Adaptive Dampening would of been nice like on the M3. I'm sure the ride isn't as bad as my 328xi on runflats. Car felt like it was going to break in half when I hit a pothole. I was very tempted to go with an M3, but the fact that it's the final model, it just doesn't do it for me.

Wait a second...did you order that? Euro Motor Cars is right down the road from me lol
Anyway, congrats on the purchase the new C63 coupe is sick. Maybe I'll see you driving around haha

They have ti coming in and I plan on picking it up. You're in MD too!? I'm Potomac. I use to go to school at MC Germantown. I hope to see you around!

Have you driven one already? If so, the ride was ok with you? Is this going to be your daily driver?

Damn small world haha. Yea man I was there as well for a couple of classes. I live in Rockville now. I will definitely keep an eye out for you lol. What color is the car?

Right now it's White with Black and Red Leather. I am thinking of changing that though to Blue and Black leather. I think I still have time. :)

Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe Production to Continue through Spring 2015

Mercedes-Benz is giving natural aspiration fans a good reason to rejoyce - while the 2015 Mercedes-AMG C63 is here in full boost form, you still have time to get yourself a naturally aspirated C63 AMG, as the Coupe version is set to stay in production through early 2015.

The carmaker is planning to keep the C63 AMG Coupe rolling through Spring next year, as Car and Driver writes. The move makes full sense, given the schedule for the new C63 doesn’t include a coup yet. The Mercedes-AMG C63 is set to land in showrooms across the US next spring, so the Coupe should keep us warm by them - the model continues to be offered in both European and US markets.

Sure, you’ll have to check with your local dealer in case you’re actually into the M157 V8’s natural aspiration thing, since we don’t know how many units are still available.

The future looks dark... and we mean that in a very positive manner

As for how the two cars stack up against each other, we’ll have to wait for a drive in the 2015 model in order to give you that verdict. Still, we’re not concerned about any of the AMG spirit being lost. On the contrary, the torque-laden character that has always defined Aufrecht Melcher Großaspach products will be here in even greater numbers.

We’re not concerned about the typical AMG soundtrack either - the M133 two-liter turbo on the 45 AMG models has taught us these Germans could probably make a bicycle sound like a thunderstorm. And while we haven’t heard the voice of the new C63 yet, the Paris Motor Show has brought a little demonstration of what the Mercedes-AMG GT can do. The two share the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8, which, by the way, you can regard as a pair of M133s. Oh, wait, the C63 has slightly more oomph...
