Hot! Mercedes-Benz, What's Next?

Controversial products are a valuable learning process for manufacturers. Despite often being commercial failures. The experience often spawns far better successors. This makes me rather optimistic regarding the future W224+EQ versions. Much of what is currently construed as "wrong" will in all likelihood be "righted". In the less distant future, the GLC EQ, C-Class EQ, E-Class EQ and the AMG.EA vehicles will be crucial litmus tests.

I agree, and they're going to market new tech on the EQS before it comes to anything else with higher sales numbers.

A predictable extension of the Gorden Wagener-supervised design paradigm. It will be sure to please current M-B brand fans. Fleet managers here in the EU will like it as well. Private customer conquest sales...??

With both BMW and soon Audi embarking on a far more rigidly "technical, minimalistic, scalpel-precise" design route, it will be fascinating to see how this "German Premium Big 3 Competition" unfolds. Which school of design will be more enduring ?

The VLE is HUGE. I have a feeling it's going to be a regular site all over the world. Hotels, private buyers, etc.

I agree it’s like sending a dead horse to the beauty salon.
Or sending Dolly Parton to enter the Miss World contest lol.

I dont see the EQS sales going up hugely, but those who want a large Mercedes saloon in EV power at least have a choice. Personally I think they need to sell the EQS at least 15% cheaper than the S class then possibly sales will go up.

The new Black Series looks longer than the regular GT model, probably with the diffusor and bumper intake extensions adding to extra length,
It is most likely much lower and wider too, which makes it appear longer (may even be the same length). They are totally different beasts in all respects, most notably expected price.

They are fundamentally different cars. It's not an extended version of the C192. You should judge accordingly. The car's base resembles the SLS AMG. The gearbox is on the rear axle and the engine is closer to the center of the vehicle. The only thing it will likely have in common with the C192 is the front lights.

From a new article in MotorTrend focused on primarily the upcoming CLE63: “
“The V-8 for the more discerning Mercedes owner is launching in the new S-Class, providing quiet but dominant performance; still a beast but in the background. “That is the wolf in sheep’s clothing,” Källenius told MotorTrend. “But then the wolf really comes out with the AMG version, so there will be a wolf and an Alpha wolf coming,” he said. “V-8 fans in the U.S. are absolutely going to love that.” ”

Could this mean there are two S 63 engine tubes?

Mercedes cars’ new look will come slow and steady as BMW and Audi opt for revolution

A little piece of trivia:

Achim Badstübner was project design director for the first gen Audi A7 Sportback. That's a flattering entry in any automotive designer's resume´.

FWIW...
