A8/S8 New Audi A8 (D4) - Official Pics & Info

My god the Benz looked good in that commercial  I still see the new A8 as ugly, only thing beatiful in it is made by B&O. My personal favorite is still the 7-series.

Benz needs to do something about that...

They will be there.

Super Bowl 2011's ad space is sold out says Fox, the broadcast network for this year's big game.
Companies who are pitching their products to the tens of millions watching include some familiar names and a couple of first-timers. It is reported that thirty seconds of airtime costs an advertiser $3 million. BMW North America is almost a newbie because it has been a decade since they plugged their autos during the big event. It has been reported that they intend to introduce the company's electric vehicle, ActiveE. The agency retained for this effort is MDC Partners' Kirshenbaum Bond Senecal & Partners. Auto companies besides BMW that have committed to ad buys are Audi, Chrysler, General Motors, Hyundai and Kia, Mercedes Benz and Volkswagen.

I don't think the A8 is ugly, just not the most original design.

BTW...I thought you liked the Lexus LS over the German trio?

They will be there.

That is good to know. This would be the perfect time to show the SLS, CLS and SLK!

Well I like Audis and there can be no knocking the execution of the interior or the actual quality of it's ride, driving experience, choice of materials or fit and finish. But it's not one of it's best designs and a definite step backwards from the D3 in my opinion.

Some cars you instantly look back at after starting to walk away but this isn't one of them.

Classic Audi, just taking potshots at their competition to get ahead. I understand they have their sights set on "victory", but they're dismissing class to get there. I've said it before, but IMO, if you're the best, you get put in commercials by the competition, if you're far from the best, you use the competition to sell your vehicle.

At least they used an F.L W221 with AMG Pack! I'm shocked! Considering their history, I thought they'd use a W140, lolll. :D

BTW, personally, that commercial just made me swoon while looking at the W221, personally.

Yes, hilarious commercial. Honestly, the S-Class shown in the ad looks so much better than the A8...I'm very surprised that they went with a decked-out S.

I love how they say..."Good morning illumination."

Agreed. Maybe it's Audi reacting to the flack from using 1-2 generation old cars in their previous commercials.

For all I know, M-B is loving this commercial, as it could help sell their car. I gotta say, I don't even remember an A8 from the Ad, but I have this magnificent vision stuck in my head from a beautiful and powerful looking S-Class just sitting their in front of a gorgeous house.

Someone from Audi will be fired for this, lol.

The Audi A8 has taken over cnn.com, as well as many other sites. There's one ad where they show an S-Class being picked up and replaced by an A8...

They're relentless with this competition-jabbing ad blitz.

The A8 doesn't stand a chance. Not only does the W221 still hold more allure and captivation, even more than halfway through its lifecycle, but if the just-over-2 MY away W222 evolves on the S-Class heritage and tradition properly, it'll just become humorous.

Read some comparison reviews for yourself and see if it's fact or fiction. But by all means everyone is entitled to an opinion.

But footie, i've just recently read that comparison involving the 7er, A8 and S-Klasse. Aparently, the 7er came first in the comparo.

Surely this contradicts your statement?

Wow...they plan on doing that during the Superbowl..

Benz needs to do something about that...

Wrong. Benz doesn't need to answer anything that has something in common with S class. The S class itself is the answer :)
After this commercial I started liking the S even more and the A8 even less, so no answer needed IMO.

How so, all it proves is that in that review they preferred the 7er most with the A8 close behind and the S-class least of these 3 cars. In other reviews the order changes, surely then that contradicts your statement? :D

Really footie, really?

You make the claim that the A8 is the closest to and could be better than the S-Klasse. I remember another magazine making the same test, i think it was CAR, and put the 7er as the winner. Surely this proves you wrong...again!

Wow, the S class looks absolutely gorgeous compared to an A8. I'm sorry Audi fans but the A8 is just plain ugly and dull. I can't help but think that Audi knows this and is trying their best to change peoples perceptions by bashing the Sclass. Just wait, the 7 er bashing ad is coming still.

Ugly is quite strong an expression, don't you think? I'm also baffled by how something can be ugly and dull at the same time? Aren't they somewhat contradictory terms? At least I understand ugly as something that induces a visual sense of disgust in me, which clearly differs from dull which I understand as evoking hardly any emotion in me.

No, Braaf is right. the A8 is an ugly version of a dull design (Audi design is pretty dull wouldn't you say?).
The D3 was a beautiful version of a dull design :)

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
