A8/S8 New Audi A8 (D4) - Official Pics & Info

Definitely not my cup of tea. The ad isn't compatible with the car. The Lexus LS or some super sized saloon by Hyundai would be better suited for visuals of that kind. Audi would never run that ad in Europe. It's way too Americanised.

^ Very true, having a dig at a competitor is something seldom seen here in Europe, thank heavens.

taking shots at the competition is quite normal here, thats with all companies though just glad to see it done in a creative way.can't wait to see what audi has in store for the superbowl should be comical.

Goodnight old luxury? Goodnight Bentley as well? Audi dissing its VW Group sibling? :t-hands: It's not correct to call MB S-class an old luxury, with all the tech & LEDs on-board. But sure Audi is currently the most avant-garde automotive luxury offered by Germans.

Surprised they didn't say Goodnight Joy

Maybe the 7 series isn't on Audi radar. :D

Must not be for them to come after Benz like that. Of course Benz is supreme ruler of the Luxury car kingdom according to HighestOfHigh! :D;) lol

Attacking a fellow competitor isn't the done thing in my book but they didn't really attack Merc anyhow, they were simply acknowledging the S-class as the luxury leader of the late decade and where expressing the opinion the A8 was the future leader. There's no denying it's the best rival to the S-class and one could argue it is now better than it.

Classic Audi, just taking potshots at their competition to get ahead. I understand they have their sights set on "victory", but they're dismissing class to get there. I've said it before, but IMO, if you're the best, you get put in commercials by the competition, if you're far from the best, you use the competition to sell your vehicle.

At least they used an F.L W221 with AMG Pack! I'm shocked! Considering their history, I thought they'd use a W140, lolll. :D

BTW, personally, that commercial just made me swoon while looking at the W221, personally.

Well, to be fair-

The new A8 does seem to come ahead of its' German competitors in various comparos featured in the German automotive press. The Audis' quality of assembly and attention to detail, inside and out, seem to have the scales tipping towards the A8. Especially the 4.2 350HP V8 diesel version has collected kudos for its' refinement and power delivery. And the MMI has been considered the most intuitive in-car information system. Handling, agility and road composure have also been complimented, although the stiffness of the suspension has been lambasted. In the comfort stakes, the M-B S-Class appears to remain king.

But the cars' are so close in terms of what is offered, that it all comes down to personal taste in the end.

My personal favorite. The BMW 7 series.

I saw quite some D4 now, and I am every time amazed by how, for an Audi, it manages to look bad!!

I mean, you can say whatever of Audi's designs (boring, predictable, carbon-copy etc), they all look nice or even very nice.

The B8 A4 was the first Audi since the ugly C5 A6 to look only half-good to me, but that is mainly because how superb the W204 looks imo.

But that A8... Heavy, ungainly, almost bored with itself... It's really a disaster. I'd take the new A6 over it in a heartbeat. It is really the first Audi i dislike in a while.

:t-cheers:

It seems as if it is only Daimler's AIRMATIC DC damping system that delivers a true 'magic carpet' ride. I have to say that on SA's B-roads a CL63 suspension in comfort mode, ABC etc. did not impress me that much - given it is an AMG model.
Other Air suspension systems rebound and damping just can't keep up and in sport mode is mostly harsh.

The S-class will ALWAYS be the No.1 'comfort king' and M-B goes to unimaginable lengths to ensure suspension comfort (the new-upcoming tech in the 2013 S-class pays tribute to my statement)

The Audi A8 has fine interior materials, fit and finish and nice usable tech - drive train, ASF body etc. The looks is simply ugly and overall IMO an uninspiring car at best.

:bow:The BMW 7 Series has good balance in ALL departments from looks, drive train, interior, handling, comfort to also being inspirational.:t-cheers:

Give me a Jaguar XJ Portfolio Long wheelbase any day. It not only rides, steers and corners well but it's got the most elegant exterior and the most stylist interior of the lot of them.

Good enough for the Pope then it's good enough for me.:t-cheers:

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
