My new Audi RS5

Color is nice. I personaly don't like the aluminium trim, would prefere gloss black, but its your car, so it should please you. Sound should be really nice, better much better than M3 (stock).

Beautiful colour combination, aluminium package isn't generally my thing but with Daytona Grey it really does suit it. What spec did you end up with?

Sorry, did not understand...what spec?

Yeah, I thought about keeping the car one colour but decided I wanted it to stand out a little so went with the aluminium package.:usa7uh:

Many happy miles! I understand that you had some differet thoughts regarding colour, are you happy with your choice? I think it is really good looking in that grey...

Yes, I have always had a black car but found that the RS5 did not offer the brilliant black option. They have their own type of blacks. Two choice, can't remember their names now.

Add to the fact that it was getting harder and harder to keep clean for whatever reason, decided to try and be "practical". Most practical to keep clean would be silver. Did not like that. So decided on this grey. Similar to the RS6 which I love.

Now I have it. Wow, yeah, love it. No more black from here on I think.:D

NICE! One of the very few Audis that I like, love that colour too, dark grey is maybe even overtaking white as my favorite colour on a car

I love the colour white but can't keep it clean. :t-banghea

Yeah, it has been pretty much 50-50 to the ones who like the trim and those who don't.

Sound is great, especially in the morning at start up. Usually I get in, close the door and start the car. Now I leave the door open :icondrool

What a beautie, love the colour, the silver trim bits, the big 20" rims, everything in fact. :usa7uh:

Did you get it fully loaded?

How do you find the ride on those big rims, can you feel the differences between the 3 options on the DRC suspension, like does comfort feel comfortable, does sport really feel stiff and lock the chassis down with little lean in the corners and does auto give the best balance of both these settings?

What do you think of the sportdiff, does it do what they claim and kill almost all the understeer in dynamic mode or can you feel the difference between the settings at all?

The steering has has most complaints levelled at it but is it really as bad as they say and is it better or worse than your S5?

Finally how does it compare to other cars you have owned and drove?

Would love to own one of these at some point but the same is true for the M3 and Carrera, all great cars but very different and I don't know if I could decide between them so will have to continue doing the lottery and hope my numbers come up so as I can have all three. :D

Thanks very much. Let me answer your questions but note that it is only a few days old and so is still in the running in period and I have not really opened her up.

Fully loaded? All the specs like sunroof, MMI etc? It comes that way in Asia. Everything is included that you find in the manual as a option. Only thing that is obvious that is missing is the Side Assist.

Yes, there is a obvious difference between Dynamic and Comfort. Dynamic stiffens everything up. Comfort feels really "loose" if you know what I mean. I had a S5 before and cornering is better on this car. You don't lean in so much. The car is more planted. Then again, like I said, have not really opened her up.

The steering issue needs a little * next to it I think. I understand the M users hating this because of lack of feel. The die hard Porsche guys will hate it also. I have driven the M and Porsche on the road and the track and yes, it gives more feedback. However, I am going to be driving this 95% of the time on the expressway, where there is a lot of traffic and the city, where again there is a lot of traffic. I am not on a track trying to turn into a corner correctly to cut down my lap time by 0.05 of a second. So the steering is fine for what I am doing. It feels the same as the S5 for me. Just that the steering wheel is now a little thicker. So the question is really 1) what is your history with cars 2) what are you going to do with your car.

Just keeping with my Audi's...I went from A4 to A5 to S5 so definitely I am most happy with this one. The power, the holding...the little silly things like a lap counter and a fuel monitor...the fin that pops up so the cop knows you are speeding:eusa_doh:..the blip sounds when you change gears:bowdown:...the RS badge...I love the colour I picked...yeah, I am pretty happy haha

Ah ha...there you go...the Audi, the M and the Porsche...it really depends on the person you are. I love the Audi. Why? 1) I am not a good enough driver to really squeeze out everything from the other two cars. 2) I like the space this ones gives. 3) I like the comfort which is the best among the three 4) I like all the bells and whistles that are included in this car...it works for me. But it does not work for many others. I have friends who own cars like the GT3 and have test driven the RS5 and say...."no feel...no sound....hmmmm....nice but....." So really, you need to figure out which one you are:D

Steering feel will be all relative to who you talk to, I suppose it was a really stupid question to ask because the answer will always be different but thanks for your reply. The whole RS vs M vs C2 wasn't meant to start old battles, it's the cars that appeal to me when I think of a mid sized coupe with lots of potential.

Anyway great car and look forward to reading your opinions as you become more familiar with the car and once you can really open up the taps.

What I meant by spec was the additional equipment beyond standard as I wasn't aware of where you were from and what standard was there. You car is very well specced indeed with all the toys one would ever want or need.

Run in period is a pain isn't it. :t-banghea I usually take overtly long journeys on the was home just to shorten this as much as possible. :D

You described it as loose, my term was 'comfy' as if all the actions of the car were delibrately slower as if to smooth out the experience and give it a luxury feel. Didn't fully work in my opinion but it's quite good with the gearbox playing it's part exceptionally well, as did the steering though the ride could never truly approach what one would say as luxurious.

Good call on your opinion of it's steering, it's not as good as the M3 and it's a mile behind what a Porsche feels like but as a daily driver it accurate which is all that's really needed away from the track.

P.S.
What's the reaction you are getting on the street, I generally found it great towards RS Audis with people being more curious toward it than most other performance brands in it's price bracket. Probably it being rarer might have something to do with this.

After all I said about the RS5 I have to admit thatit is a very nice car. That would be the color I would go with as well. Congrats man. The run in is always a pain. After that, the gas station will be your new best friend because you can't seem to leave your foot anywhere but all the way down. Please some interior pics.

Yes, out here the cars tend to come fully fitted out. All options seem to be standard, even for my A5 and S5 before. Full MMI, sun roof, rear blind etc. Hence why when I read car magazines for Europe or the US, was surprised that all that I consider standard are options there. Even the Ipod cable is standard.

Haha same here. Now always taking the long way to any destination that I am going to.

Having driven it a bit more, a big difference between this car and the S5 is the gear box. The gears change so quickly now compared to before. This is in Comfort or Auto mode. However, in Dynamic, it seems to hold longer. The car also seems to drive more smoothly that the S5. Much too smooth for you guys I think. Having had a go at the M and Porsche, this car would put M and Porsche owners to sleep!:D

Yup, still think it is more a GT than a sports car. It is quiet, it drives smoothly, it is comfortable, lots of space. The only time you notice is if you decide to floor it to over take someone or something, then ...whoa....lots of horses available.:t-cheers:

Hehe this I discovered yesterday twice...once at a traffic light...two tourist...got their cameras out and started snapping! One guy saw me first and punched his friend to alert him. Second time I was back at the Audi dealer for some final paper work. A S5 Sportsback pulled in, two guys got out. One started walking away while the second who noticed my car, called his friend over and they spent time looking at it.:eusa_danc Never happened once in the two years with the S5!

Some more pics. Sorry, I took a whole lot but most were blurred. Combination of my hands and the camera I think. I rescued these....

Not on the S5, this is for fuel. Shows how much you are using. Not sure why they have this. I would expect people who buy this car not to be too concenred about fuel!

Red line on the S5 was 6500 I think.

New also, not on the S5, a lap counter

I'm sure on the S5 in Europe the trip computer shows instant, average per trip and overall average fuel usage, must be different where you are. Btw love the seats, they look the part though aren't they the same as the S5 seats, didn't you consider the Recaro Sports seats or weren't they an available option though very pricy?

P.S.
The way you describe the whole driving experience you would think that Audi deliberately steered away from producing something in the mould of either the M3 or Carrera, by the sounds of it this car shouldn't really appeal to the customers of those two cars, is that a fair assessment or am I well wide of the mark?
