My new Audi RS5

Finally a road trip

Finally took the car out on a long trip to:

1) Test the power and speed

2) How she is on a long drive.

Point 2 first. Pretty much the same as the S5. Haha. Same car, same feel really. Very comfortable on long drives. Don't get tired at all. Went for a 1,400km round trip door to door.

Point 1. Now I see the power. Able to open her up and can see the significant power as was driving with a regular bunch. Use to be pretty even with them in terms of speed. Now I see the difference.

Watch ‪Audi RS5 at 230km/h‬‏ - YouTube

Even I am surprised how easy it was going past from position three in the convoy. Filming car was a 335i and the first car travelling at 160km/h

so does all that power make up for the troubles and hassle or do you miss your S5?

I don't think about the S5 anymore. Only cause nothing I can do about it now. But if you said I could somehow turn back time with what I know now of this power, would I still buy the RS5? No I would not. I would have stayed with the S5.

New problem today. Sigh that popped up: "Tail fin malfunction". Sigh....it would not go down. Had to stop the car. Restart and manually move it down. Then it was ok again.

Sell this "car" man :) Just an idea :)

Thought about it but:

1) Too much sunk in. Can't be bothered to spend anymore on a new car.

2) Nothing out there interest me at present.

So will sit on this until something comes along that catches my eye. Then I can think about it again.

I hope it will last enough for you until you can afford a new ride :)

Just some fuel notes for the trip for those who care about this sort of thing...

Total distance: 1,500 km

Top Speed: 264 km/h

Slowest Speed: Uh 1 km/h I guess...must have done that somewhere.

Average Speed: Accoding to trip computer, taking into account town/carpark/traffic jam/open highway travel: 112 km/h

Petrol Reader on Full Tank for Main Part of the Trip driving on Auto Setting: 500-520 km. Reader showed 11.5 l/100 km

Petrol Reader on Full Tank after a 300 km stretch where I drove on Dynamic Setting: 430 km. Reader showed 16.7 l/100 km

I think the high COE is also making everybody wait! :D

Took the car onto the track yesterday (Sepang, the F1 track in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia) and the quattro is really something. It started raining at the beginning of the session and Type R's, 911's, Golf"s all were spinning out. The Audi stayed planted. The car was going right, my body was going left and she was staying on, no twitch at all. I could have pushed her harder I think but really was at such bad body angles I did not try. I need to work out how to make my current seat belt not 'give" and hold me in. You guys who live in areas of snow and ice, this car will keep you on the road!

The other point of note was the brakes. I could brake at the 50m marker whereas the Type R's were all braking at the 100m marker or above.

The Lap record for F1 at the track was by Montoya at 1.34. I came in at 2.45. He laps me by the third round! haha

Well, the car has finally "settled" down. 17,000km done and the exhaust has such a great sound. I often don't turn on the radio anymore and am happy to sit at the lights and listen to then rumble.

Fingers crossed everything seems to be working now.

Been back to Sepang several times now and I just can't say enough about the quattro and the road holding. Just so grippy.
