As a matter of fact, they should do far more together instead of competing. I am all for Maybachs based on RR and BMWs on the G Wagon platform. Work together to make outstanding products, share the R&D and make f' ing amazing cars together.

Mercedes is shit at working with other corporate cultures. BMW on the other hand have proven very adept at it.

It's the exact same culture in the most basic sense of the word. Two German cities not far away from each other. These people all went to the same schools, and have the exact same mentality, way of life and whatever else you can think of.

What benefitted BMW was the anglophile former CEO Bernd Pischetrieder, who was in fact distantly related to legendary BMC engineer/disigner Alec Issigonis. M-B's Jürgen Schrempp, on the other hand, often alientated top Chrysler Corp. decision makers with his boisterous and rumoured philandering behavior. His predecessor Edzard Reuter was said to be notoriously arrogant. In addition, the notion that ANY automobile coming from North America could be nothing but junk was deeply engrained at Daimler-Benz AG.

It should be noted that faster charging = worse battery degradation. But indeed yes it's impressive tech. The biggest barrier now is the charging infrastructure which is mostly <150kW with only a few places or Tesla stations offering like 300kW.

This is exactly what every EV buyer should think about.

Until some new revolutionary tech/chemistry comes out , higher charging speed without any damage on the long term, is impossible right now.

My pre-facelift Taycan has an option in the settings to limit DC charging to 200 kW, the motivation being to reduce damage to the battery while charging. The facelift Taycan doesn't even have this option because, after investigating some of the early build Taycans, Porsche discovered there wasn't enough battery degredation to warrant it.

Oh yes definitely tech wise. Purchasing too, but them trying to build a car together would be a complete shit show. Traditionally and fundamentally they were totally different takes on a luxury car.

Nope.

Now that the EQs are going to look like their Ice variants, I expect Mercedes to return to design form. Even if the EVs aren't as ultimately well proportioned as their ICE counterpartz, they will look vastly better IMO.

The ICE sedan's have been stellar for 2 generations.
