Hot! Mercedes-Benz, What's Next?

Poor CLS. A breakout star in 2005, but a washed up has been by 2023 that has retired. Gorgeous car that ultimately failed for a myriad of reasons.

A nicely configured C257 CLS can still captivate me. I've always found it a pity that M-B AMG didn't use its exterior design as the basis for their 4 door GT. It was only in the very fewest of possible configurations that the X290 impressed me. But a C257 with a widened track, subtlely blistered wheel arches and those nice 21" AMG cross-spoke matte silver rims...that would have been grand. Something similar to...this:

What I meant is the product placement, not just about the size. If it’s positioned lower than GLE in pricing then it’ll not carry the value of having that iconic shape.

Recalling the rumour of having GLG to compete with Range Rover Sport by positioning between GLS & GLE

Industry rumours swirl to plans for a AMG only SUV still exist apparently.
An XM rival if you will. Whilst XM is not successful in all markets? It is in the ones that count. Possibly follow the same idea, existing platform, shared technologies, performance hybrid? Cost Effective but profitable.
It makes sense for AMG to compete with a unique brand only model in this highly competitive and lucrative segment.

A vision of a new combined S-Class/EQS sedan

So what if it’s vapourware. It looks sleek and elegant. And it looks like a Mercedes-Benz. Want something tall and boxy ? Get a GLS.
Given how many i7’s Mercedes are back-back testing against existing S-Klasse and internally virtually against the future of the model Series.

I predict the next series will abandon its evolutionary and kinship cycles for a stand alone model design to elevate its standing higher. Probably go back to the likes of the W140 more upright and provide more spatial possibilities to customise the rear passenger compartment.

High end fleets, industries and Chauffeur companies looking at an avenue for sustainable fleets in global cities are abandoning S-Klasse for the i7.
The recent drop in sales included in this small margin are an indication of this.
The plans to amalgamate both S-Klasse and EQS aims to mimic the i7/7 with both ICE/Electric options.
The EQS is too Hollywood celebrity minded for it to replace the initial idea of an S-Klasse going forward which is what Mercedes expected it to do in the long term.

I do not think the EQS was ever intended as a full S class replacement. It lacks some basic amenity of an S class, such as the rear seating position and leg room, to have ever been a suitable replacement. The EQS was always intended as a 1 generation vehicle which would morph into a full ICE replacement for generation 2. Now generation 2 will live alongside the W223 replacement, but be more in line with what a traditional ICE S offers.

Exactly. That's why I was so annoyed about all of this "EQ brand is ending" nonsense. It was never a long term naming scheme, it was just for transition. The G-wagen was actually the only model to get a name change at the last moment and what was mostly due to it being delayed. The CLA was never getting an EQ moniker.

We should be seeing first video footage of prototypes of the upcoming electric MB.EA C-Class sedan and the electric AMG.EA 4 door GT testing on the 'Ring quite soon. Perhaps with a bit less camo than we've seen so far in the photos.

Isn’t this interesting??
Not at all. Looks exactly as the FL front end of the first gen. This time most likely with the black piece around the grille. To MB that has to be the next best thing or something.

Stock is down 6,5 % today. Turns out you can't just design and produce subpar vehicles and expect the Chinese to swoop them up, when they have Chineses substitute brands such as XPENG available, who would have thought? Mercedes doesn't know what they wanna do, who they wanna cater to and what people want - looking at you, 4-cylinder plug-in hybrid C63....

Through and through disastrous EV transition for the European companies. It's shameful to witness

Xpeng shares fell by 9% in one day last month.

Share price remains a rubbish way of judging these things.
