Hot! Mercedes-Benz, What's Next?

I would think EQ would disappear now if they're going to go with one design with various power sources. Doesn't make any sense to hold on to the EQ junk marketing anymore. The G580 proves this. EQ just needs to fall off and die.

this was peak Mercedes design and it has been a downfall since then imho

Mercedes_Fans.de reminds us of the ‘baby G’ with this render. I feel it’s a mix of G-Class & Suzuki Jimny, hope they won’t make it any entry level/small SUV! IMO they should consider it between GLE & GLS

The Regular G Wagon is already smaller than a GLS and maybe slightly bigger than a GLE.
A Baby G would have to be GLB/C or smaller otherwise its just the same size.

And I think it should be a rugged no frills off roader with some luxuries optional. Undercut the defender with something truly indestructible and pure Mercedes Benz.

That would be a good approach IMO.

Deliver the core of what a G truly is, a massively capable off roader, and put in the usual G luxuries. And that's what the market will respond to.

What I meant is the product placement, not just about the size. If it’s positioned lower than GLE in pricing then it’ll not carry the value of having that iconic shape.

Recalling the rumour of having GLG to compete with Range Rover Sport by positioning between GLS & GLE

Yeah I didn't think about what they should or would call it. GLG sounds good. Mercedes probably won't do "G-Sport" like everyone else does with the smaller versions of the big product. Do we know if this model will have it's own platform?

For volume and to give the G-Class breathing space, I think pricing will be between GLC and GLE. It will likely have interior quality of the former + rugged(cost-cutting measures) but with off-road capabilities of the latter. No V8 or I6/V6, just BEV and 4 cylinder hybrid drivetrain.

All I want from the next S/Electric S is a traditional S class design. Regal, imposing stance, great materials, RWD proportions, and elegance. In fact, I would be happy if an electrically underpinned version of today’s S class replaces the EQS in 2030 (around the time the ICE S class gets that second facelift, if that report still stands).

Poor CLS. A breakout star in 2005, but a washed up has been by 2023 that has retired. Gorgeous car that ultimately failed for a myriad of reasons.
